  1. If this isn't something done on these boards then please delete this and I won't ask again. However, given the football knowledge present I might as well ask your opinions if it is cool. Kirk Cousins vs. Youngstown State or Darren Thomas @ LSU. Normally Thomas would be a no brainer pick but Cousins does throw it around quite a bit and given their level of opponents I am undecided. I am leaning towards Thomas because at least he will be playing the entire game where Cousins might be pulled to get some reps for a backup.
  2. How are they getting less game suspensions than Ohio State???

    Year Four

Big difference betweeen running QBs and RBs in my opinion. RBs tend to get wrapped up or leg tackled because of how they run and where the contact comes from - LB shedding a block at the 2nd level or flat out running into the line. QBs on the other hand typically take shots from a full speed running corner or safety as they round the edge. Also - the defensive mindset is to tackle the RB, not risk a big play by trying to get the big hit, but when they have a shot at a QB they take it full bore.
  4. I am hoping that we add Missouri before they end up elsewhere. I think they would be a decent addition. Then add an east coast team and wait for 15/16 until ND is finally ready.
  5. Off topic - when did they start to censor kchusker's avatar? On topic - we have mobile QBs in the Big 10???
  6. Thank god someone came to their senses.
  7. They might have been. I didn't have a chance to watch Iowa's fall camp special to see exactly where they were shown, but I think they are doing some construction work in the practice facility area that very well might have caused issues with irrigation - and given the heat this summer that would have turned it into a field of dirt. In the stadium itself is field turf.
  8. http://www.chron.com/sports/aggies/article/Legally-speaking-A-M-to-SEC-in-fine-print-stage-2134282.php Some relevant bits: "Let's Be Clear Part II: Everything is a go for A&M to the SEC, no matter the vocal protests of Baylor or anyone else in the Big 12, it's just a matter of finalizing details." "Finally, and A&M insiders have harped on this as well: The move to the SEC is much bigger than any knee-jerk reaction to the Longhorn Network, it's about what Aggies leaders envision is in the best interests of the university years and a century from now."
  9. In other news, ex-football player Devon Smith was found taped to the flagpole outside the football facilities this morning.
  10. Give a 3rd or 4th place team in a BCS conference Boise's schedule and there is probably a 90% chance that they go undefeated. No way in hell you can convince me that the 3rd or 4th place team in a BCS conference deserves to play in the title game. "Hell by your reasoning, the Big East shouldn't get into the MNC either (not that they do), and they're a BCS conference. " Funny you should mention that since in 2009, Cincy went undefeated and didn't get to play for the title because their conference sucked. Then there was 2007 where a 1 loss Kansas was passed over for a 2 loss LSU because of strength of schedule. Pretty much any year the Big East ends up having a team with a record that makes it to the title game, the Big East team isn't even in the conversation. Strength of schedule matters even within the BCS conferences so why should Boise get a pass?
  11. What are the odds that the winning team "accidently" drops the trophy this year and breaks it? I say at least 50/50.

    Fantasy QB

I have Nathan Scheelhouse and Robert Griffin in a Big 10/Big 12 two QB league. Oh - we were talking pro football? Rivers/Roethlesburger. I seem to like two QB leagues it appears.
  13. Academics are still important to the Big 10 so I don't think Oklahoma or Kansas State have a prayer. I don't know where GA Tech and the Virginia schools are academically. I would say probably: ND Texas Rutgers Missouri Maryland Kansas
  14. I would guess the SEC meeting today was along the lines of - if A&M were to apply tomorrow, would they have the necessary votes to be accepted. If the answer is no, then A&M is informed that they shouldn't bother to apply. Since they are still meeting tomorrow, my guess is they have the votes once the application is official. Just like what happened with Nebraska and the Big 10.
  15. I just want them to get past 99 and 2000 so I can start reading it again without the reminder of how badly we sucked in those two years.
  16. I don't think this one will even be close. Nebraska will be out for blood and win by at least 20.
  17. Maybe ridiculous statements like this are why Wisconsin engenders fuzzier feelings within the Nebraska fanbase? I certainly don't disagree with that. Knappic - I think you completely missed my point and no I don't think Huskers should be obsessed with Iowa. My point was (for those that post and do obviously think about other teams in their new conference) why the disdain for Iowa and the happy thoughts for Wisconsin when we are the same. Thank you to those of you that answered my question and helped me to understand the mindset. Moiraine - I will do my best to not annoy all of you I love your answer Foppa!
  18. For the record, you've just spent more time thinking about Iowa and Wisconsin than 99% of Husker fans have thought about them in the past month. Pretty much nobody, outside those Husker fans living in/next to Iowa or Wisconsin thinks about or cares about either team. There is no "fascination" with Wisconsin any more than there is a fascination with Boise St. around here. Really Knappic? This is the one that really gets me - comparing Wisconsin to Oklahoma and Iowa to Colorado. Another Wisky/OU comment. And yes these two in a row are what led me to asking why people are ok with Wisconsin and not Iowa. There are other examples in other threads on this board talking up Wisconsin and bashing Iowa as well so my question still stands - is it just the fact that their AD has Husker ties and their uniforms look like yours that causes them to be worthy and Iowa to not?
  19. OK - I have to ask. Is the fascination with Wisconsin simply due to the fact that their athletic director is from Nebraska? Everyone here realizes that Wisconsin = Iowa as far as on the field success right? You can't get much more equal than Iowa and Wisconsin. 42-42-2 all time record. Wisconsin has 12 conference titles to Iowa's 11. Wisconsin 1 in the last decade, Iowa 2. Wisconsin 7 BCS level bowls with a 3-4 record. Iowa 7 BCS level bowls with a 3-4 record (Iowa 1-1 in BCS era, Wisconsin 0-1) Wisconsin 11-11 all time bowl record. Iowa 14-10-1. Both teams have 4 ten win seasons in the past decade. Both head coaches learned under Fry. I could keep going with the comparisons - but it just gets silly how similar they are which is why the Wisconsin love and Iowa bashing just confuse me.
  20. Just a few little threads down: http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/53169-texas-am-is-rattling-the-sec-sabre-again-because-of-espn-8-the-bevo/
  21. Funniest thing I have read on this board in ages!!!!! Hell, I almost threw ya a +1 for making me laugh so hard. TO be honest the only "ducking" or deaf ear to the matter of scheduling a home/home came from east of the Missouri. Has NU been ducking Iowa since this???? Pretty sure that is a negative ghost rider. Yeah like KF's second year here. Oh how the tables have turned huh? We wanted you guys for 5 or 6 years now. Pry about the time KF was playing with all the kids he recruited. Who cares about KF's kids. The fact is that NU has been open to a series with Iowa and since these last two beat downs the feelings have not been as mutual from the Hawkeye administration. Face the only time in the last 20 years Iowa may have even considered talking to NU about a home/home with NU was during NU's "darkages", which as many a poster has pointed out is on par with Iowa's "glory era". Iowa fas can chirp all they want about this, the fact remains the folk in Iowa City have shot down this chance for a while. The only proof I have for my argument is heresay which won't get me anywhere, but I am going to post it anyway. I don't remember if it was 03 or 04 but both Iowa and Nebraska had a hole in our schedules for (I think) 07/08. Iowa contacted Nebraska but Nebraska already had USC on their schedule and didn't want another high end opponent, understandable as most teams - including Iowa - don't want to schedule two top OOC games. Iowa then tried to schedule Nebraska during a year when Nebraska wanted 8 home games during one of the coaching transitions and so Nebraska wanted to flip which year was home and which year was away from what Iowa had proposed. However, Iowa was already at Iowa State and thus couldn't make it work to do the away game at Nebraska in the year Nebraska wanted it. This information came to me through a friend who at the time was working in the administrative offices at Nebraska (not Iowa). So no, as much as some Nebraska fans might want to believe otherwise, Iowa has not been ducking Nebraska since we played during a horrible transition period between coaches. I would also not say that Nebraska ducked Iowa. The simple fact is that the schools were just not able to find a time that worked out for both teams.
  22. I think that you guys will rip Michigan State apart. Their game plan plays right into all of your strengths.
  23. Because we've listened to years of "smack" from Iowa. It's an Obsession that stems from wanting to pound their program into the ground like the missouri/iowa state/kansas/kansas state/colorado we know they really are. Just curious. When was the last time missouri/iowa state/kansas/kansas state/colorado won their conference or went to a BCS game? For that matter, when was the last time that Nebraska won the conference or went to a BCS game? I will grant you the fact that the last BCS game you went to was indeed the MNC game, but come on - you didn't even win your division that year.
  24. Don't troll. We don't tolerate trolls here. And if you think this is in ANY WAY "playing," you need to spend some time on some Hawkeye sites and see what they say about Nebraska and Nebraska fans. If you think this is worth getting all riled up about, you need to get out more. If you can't handle pro-Husker talk then don't come to this site. It really is that simple. The problem Knappic, is that this thread was not created as a pro-Husker thread. It was started with - or at least rather quickly devolved into - bashing Iowa, and as such the Hawkeye posters on your forum are getting defensive. I don't know about the others, but I come to this site because I am trying like hell to embrace Nebraska as my second team given my family and location but for all of the good conversations, pro-Husker stuff on this board all it takes is some of the ignorant comments to undo a lot of it. As for the idiots on the Hawkeye forums - HawkeyeNation is by far the best Iowa board that I have found as far as limiting the stupid, but there is still WAY too much stupid. If you want a laugh at Iowa AND Iowa State fans just go into the Rivalry forum over there and start reading some of the threads. The way they go at each other is just funny. Granted you might find a thread where I had just had enough and jumped into it and then you can laugh at me as well.
