  1. I knew this would be an interesting topic on Huskerboard. And this quote is completely true imo. A square peg in a round hole. It happens. And sometimes it's just that simple... As a Y-Town guy, I am glad he's back home and I think Bo is a great fit at YSU. He'll get hired away at some point, but it'll be fun until then...
  2. Thankya! Now go represent the Big Ten and whoop on Notre Dame! Good luck! That's the plan. Hopefully we can get it done. Want to see Purple Faced Kelly's head explode.
  3. First of all, we did not cheat, the head coach lied...there is a difference. Oh, he resigned before he got fired. I fail to see how this hire equals us to Texas? Really? First, you DID cheat. Your coach played players he knew would be inelligible, if he had reported the issues like he was supposed to. How is that not cheating? Playing players that would otherwise be inelligble is cheating. Second. You can call it whatever you want, resign or fired. Point of the fact is, if he didnt resign, he would have been fired. We all know the truth here, dont hide behind symantics. Third. How do you compare to Texas? You cheated, you got away with it, and because of your money and football power; you are able to hire a better coach because of all that money and power. That is Texas; above the law and doesnt have to follow rules that everyone else has to (and they know it, much like OSU). They can do whatever they want because they have money.... same as OSU is doing. I cant belive I use to root for OSU. I am disgusted and may have to root for Michigan; they may be elitist a$$hole$, but atleast they dont condone cheating and paying players like they do up at OSU. Whoa. You don't know a whole lot about M*ch*g*n then do you? Chis Webber could find the amount of cash involved in the Tat-5 stuff in his couch cushions. Now, I'm not here to defend any of this crap. No matter where it happens. I will say however, whenever I watch a college football game now, I have to wonder how the rest of the country is paying for all their tattoos. And as a fan, it sucks that that's what pops in my head...
  4. Ok guys, good luck today. Good opportunity to get TOSU, PSU and M*ch*g*n in your first year in the B1G. GBR!!!
  5. I think you guys will be fine on offense. Overpower them in the 2nd half. Defensively, just don't let DR get on a roll. Make the open field tackles, slow down the run and put DR in 3rd and long. When DR does run, don't let him get out of bounds. Put a hit on him. It adds up quickly with him and gets him rattled...
  6. Yeah, didn't make much sense saying 'get'. Still a little hungover. Hope Bo told your DBs to be ready today. Robinson is gonna put a lot of throws up for grabs. 3 ints would be nice...
  7. Good luck today in your first official game in the B1G! Here's to no injuries and hope you guys enjoy the BTN.
  8. Welcome to the B1G Huskers! Just an FYI for anyone who may not have heard. The BTN goes wall to wall Huskers at noon ET today.
  9. The UNL/TOSU game will be one of, if not the most anticipated game of the college football regular season next year. Some other "big name" games that day: Miami (Fl) @ Va Tech Iowa @ Penn State Georgia @ Tennessee Auburn @ Arkansas Oklahoma @ Texas Florida @ LSU All the times for these games are TBA except Fla/LSU (8:00pm est). I believe that both Wiscy and PSU "request" 8:00pm est starts when we travel to their stadiums, so I'm assuming the home team has some say in the start times.
  10. Hey guys. I wanted to stop by and say good luck tonight! Go Big Red!
  11. My take... TOSU - We will be tough again next year. Lose some defense, but offense should be better. We generally replace anyone we lose on defense very effectively. We have been very fortunate there. We are expecting another good run next year. The year after next is the unknown imo. Wiscy - They could lose every O-lineman in their 2 deep and still field a great O-line. They grow on trees...errr...dairy farms up there. Always a tough game, road or home. MSU - Their history is "Sparty being Sparty". Zero consistency. However, I think Dantonio may be changing that. Will be a tough game. I do not know their personnel situation however. Couple of good rbs, but we did not face them this year. Sorry, best I can do with them and only saw their Notre Dame game and parts of others. Iowa - Always a tough game, if you're PSU. They seem to not show up in a lot of games. They really make me scratch me head. Lots of talent, but lose when they shouldn't. Really never know until the game gets under way which Iowa got off the bus. M*ch*g*n - hahahahaha...Ok, Denard is pretty good and so is...Well, they do play 11 guys on defense. I've actually never counted. Maybe they only had 9 out there. Wouldn't be able to tell the difference anyway. I believe they will have a new coach, but I could be wrong. It's pretty much full blown Civil War in that fan base from what I've seen on their boards. PSU - I think they're going to be better next year. Always field, at the very least, a competent defense, usually a good one. And they're offense will be a year older and better imo. Rumors of a split inside the coaching staff. Have no idea if it's true or not, but if it is, that's never good for a team. NW - Everyone around the country still calls these guys a "bottom feeder". I don't get it. They are as scrappy a team as there is. Should've beaten Auburn in their Bowl game last year, even after throwing 5 ints. On any given Saturday, they can beat anyone in the Big Ten+2. Ask Iowa. And I don't see that changing. Love their coach too. Minnie - Awesome new stadium from all accounts. But yeah, they don't have Maroney and Barber any more... Purdue - M*A*S*H unit every year. Have no idea how good or bad they would be if they could actually stay healthy. Indiana - Decent, sometimes good offense. Don't have the athletes to win many, but are capable of giving a lot of teams a scare. In conclusion, I think you guys are capable of winning every game on your schedule with a year's more maturity. Don't think you will, but there are no games here that you will be "outclassed" talent-wise by any means. I think Wiscy will be the toughest game, in Madison. Wiscy will almost certainly want you at night and to me it is the toughest place to play in the country. TOSU game should be second toughest. You get us at home, but we will be experienced with tough roads games, with lots of upperclassman and with an earlier OOC trip to Miami. Just my take. I don't break down film for a living so take it FWIW...
  12. I agree with this 100%. Need to make a splash right out of the gates for the next TV deal and to grow the BTN... And from purely a "fan of the game" perspective, would you guys want to come into the Big Ten+2 and not have these teams on your schedule? I wouldn't, even if it costs us a chance at the CCG. Ohhh, it's going to be a long offseason. Can not wait until next season...
  13. Good luck tonight guys. Buckeye Nation is pulling for ya...
  14. Hey guys. Wanted to pop in and say congrats and good luck this coming week in the CCG.
  15. Tough loss guys. Nobody that's watched as much football as most of us have, want to be talking about officiating, but damn. You guys just need to gut out the next few weeks, grab a conference title, and start with a fresh slate in your new home. Not gonna lie, the Big Ten+2 refs suck too, but they suck equally for everyone...
  16. Congrats guys. You're in perfect position with everyone's schedules about to heat up a bit. Gonna be a fun ride I think...
  17. I was thinking the same thing. They are probably still on the list to add if they continue to pursue more teams. I doubt Pitt was on the list. While a good academic and research institution, the Pittsburgh market is already pretty solid with PSU. The 'Big 3' I'm sure were Texas, Nebraska and ND (national brands). To me Rutgers and Syracuse was always an 'either/or', not both. I'm guessing Rutgers (population/television sets). And there was also talk about Maryland to make inroads into Baltimore and Washington DC (population/television sets). The cynic would say another motive would be to weaken the ACC for a possible 'down the road' addition of Boston College if ND was already on board. Just me speculating though. I would really be interested in seeing this list "leak" out at some point to see what they were thinking.
  18. Ya know when the network first started up, I was very skeptical. It was kind of a joke of a network. But I have to say that once they got their feet under them, it's become a pretty impressive operation. The picture (HD) is awesome. Seriously, I look forward to games on BTN now, when early on it was a pain in the #$@ to find someone/somewhere with BTN. Light years ahead of CBS's HD that's always pixelating and blurring for SEC games (at least in my area). The production is great. They still come back late from commercials sometimes, but so do the rest of them. The game announcers still kinda suck, but so do most of them. And now I watch the Big Ten Network pregame stuff more than Espn College Gameday. It's understated compared to College Gameday, but the guys know what they're talking about, are good on camera and, of course, concentrate on the games I care most about. I really think you guys are going to love the network. It has become one of the channels I always surf to now to see if anything interesting is on.
  19. I think that's the point. I think the idea that at least if it could mean knocking the other out of the CCG, then it would retain some of its importance. But right now it's all theoretical anyway. I don't see Michigan in the CCG for some time and by the time they are good enough, we'll probably have 2-4 more teams in the conference and there will be another division realignment. I very much agree, riot. I think Expansion is far from over. We'll see 16-team conferences before the end of the decade. I agree as well. And a 9 game conference schedule changes a lot of this stuff as well. And it looks as if that is 100% going to happen.
  20. As a college football fan I understand completely why everyone in the Big Ten wants Nebraska as a rival. Awesome, awesome match ups. The school administrators see awesome, awesome revenue games. But to me what the Big Ten and Delaney want is to capitalize on these huge match ups right out of the gates. They know how huge these games will be TV wise and want to open up the 'new' Big Ten with a bang. Steal some thunder from early season match ups in the SEC as well I would imagine. That is who the Big Ten feels is their real competition going forward imo. Put UNL vs. TOSU, then Wiscy, then PSU and M*ch*g*n. I'd have to look, but will one of these match ups go head to head with Florida/Tenn (one of the SEC's first "big brand" games of the year)? Alabama/LSU? I don't know, but that's how I'd schedule it. Steal the spotlight. Then all the attention is on the Big Ten for a couple years while the Nebraska thing is still new to everyone and then finally bring in ND with the threat that we won't schedule them anymore once we hit the 9 game conference schedule. That's what I see as the "plan" here...imho I know, I covered several different topics from other threads. Sorry about that.
  21. Didn't even listen, but if the quotes in the 2nd post are accurate it would lead me to believe that they have to be complete morons. TOSU invented the phrase "3 yards and a cloud of dust". If they don't even understand their team's own history and tradition, how can anyone possibly take them for anything other than being idiots. If you can run the ball every play and win, then do it! That would be domination of the highest order imo. Don't get me wrong, I understand the allure of the great passing game, but running the ball and playing defense is still the surest way to victory and has been since this great game was conceived. Not sure why anyone associated with Ohio State football would bash a team that put up the rushing stats that Nebraska did over the weekend. Eh, whatever. I'm going to continue checking in over here during the season as long as I am welcome.
