  1. Both of NU's lines will heavily decide this game. The front four on defense needs to make Jones get "happy feet". That is when Landry has been very poor and indecisive when throwing. He sets his feet and has time, he will get it to Broyles and company, no matter how good our secondary is. The bigger key is exactly what was said in the OP. This is not a Boomer front four of recent years. They are good but not as dominant in the past. Beal is their stud up front and Shirles, Hardrick, and DJ/Marcel Jones MUST keep him in front of them. They are big as usual on the interior but not near as seasoned as they normally are. NU's OLine has been smoke and mirrors all year. They look like the old days against the crap teams like they should, but can be nowhere to be found in a lot of other games. They controll the fronts of Mizzou and Okie State but then get abused by the likes of KU and SDSU. Which group shows up? They need to keep the offense on the field and eat the clock and let the defense get some long rests on the sideline. Barney Cotton MUST earn his paycheck tonight for all of us Husker fans to celebrate all the way to the Big Ten!
  2. So according to the Big XII Championship Game referee selection procedure I fully expect to see Cooper Dingleberry and Mr. Davis to be officiating this game.
  3. Obviously one of Gomes' braided locks got in his eyes while typing. Anyways it's comments like this from Eddie George that continue to prove a lot of former players are crappy analysts. I am sure he is basing this solely off of Boomer's performance against the Pokies and Jones and Broyles stats. Probably hasn't watched NU's secondary except the Pokie game. The secondary and rest of the Blackshirts are peaking at the right time. Eddie George is a joke. The guy sleeps with his Heisman everynight and kisses it each morning thanking the gods that the trophey wasn't handed out one month later than it is.
  4. Let's go nuts this week. Utah State +39 at Boise State. Pissed off Broncos at home, but still nursing the hangover of defeat. Let's go AGGIES
  5. With the better frontman With the lesser frontman, but still a kickass band
  6. Nothing like throwing down a little Jimmy John's before a little boozing. Pregame party begins now

  7. Is in Sports Illustrated this week in Faces in the Crowd
  8. If only a lot of the young pups on this board were able to have experienced this rivalry in the 80's the Crouch catch becomes that much greater. Everytime we go to Memorial Stadium my dad still points out where Billy Sims fumbled and where he was sitting. EVERYTIME. I didn't get to witness these games in the 70's, but was brought up with the stories. The 80's were great. Osborne, Switzer, Halloway, the Sandman, the Triplets, Keith Jackson, Steve Taylor, and F'ing Sooner Magic, I could go on for days. It was such a fever pitch, that the rest of the schedule hardly ever mattered.
  9. After reading, and then the following 10 minutes of painful laughing, only two words come to mind........... DONKEY PUNCH
  10. The ladies looked very impressive against the Tigers tonight posting a dominating sweep. Tara Mueller(hottie) looked like the Tara of 2008 when she was an All American. Lindsey Anderson served some huge runs, including 12 in a row in set 1. We all talk of Alex Henery getting the hose in conference honors, well Anderson is a two time All American and she didn't even get honorable mention by the conference. Heading to Washington.
  11. Ronnie is in a better place right now. The pain he was in this last season was pretty bad, but he made it to every game he could and ones he probably shouldn't have. That was just Ron showing how bad he bleeds Cubbie blue. I was lucky enough to get to meet Ron when I was 15 in Denver. Growing up in Western NE, it was easier for the family to go to Denver when the Cubs were in town than go to Chi-Town. We were walking around Mile High, and ran into him after I heard another man say who he was. Ron stopped and signed a ball for me and then we had an imprompto ten minute Cub chat. He was the friendliest person I had ever met. Anyhow, Ron is in a place now where he is pain free, chilling with Harry Carey sipping Old Styles, and without a doubt a Hall of Famer. It is a travesty that this man cannot get in when dominating a position and putting up stellar numbers in an era where pitchers dominated. One last time for Ronnie, "CUBS WIN....AAAAALLLLLRRRRIIIIIGGGGHHHHTTTT." I loved his emotion no matter the situation in every game. RIP CUBBIE
  12. Congrats probably the eastiest POY selection in the state ever. We know more likely than not that Bubba will add the baseball POY, and honestly he very easily could be the BBall POY. He is that good. Not to shabby of a trophey collection either way.
  13. I agree with you on Robinson, he is deserving of some carries. Rex is Rex and I expect to see Aaron Green getting some carries. I really think we need another back in this class. I think Jones, Ward, and Okafor are all dogs. If they were good enough they would have gotten carries last year. I would like to see more depth at the RB position. I see it as only 3 deep with a true frosh. One injury makes the situation really thin. I dont know if Heard will make it, I hope he will. It is tricky situation waiting on Heard and trusting him to get the grades. Wouldnt mind seeing a JUCO back. Time will tell. I think we need another, but I think we should go for a h.s. back rather than a juco. Last year's two recruits listed at RB were Heard and Bell, who's now at WR. The year before was both Rex and Tray and neither one redshirted. Our youngest back next year, besides Green would be Rex and Tray. I think we need more young backs. Green prolly won't redshirt either. It'd be nice to get one in and shirt him. Bell was never going to be a RB here. It was always WR or if needed a DB. I think NU can get away without another RB this year, but more than likely be taking two next year.
  14. http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1159538 Yeah, don't think Warren Buffet or Larry the Cable guy are the type of people that could match Rice and pursuade Lyons We're screwed. Well Stanford NU will see your Condoleezza Rice and raise ya one Clarence Thomas. I believe he hit it off with Jason Ankrah on a plane ride after his recruiting trip. Get Clarence to town. Stanford you should have pulled the Tiger Woods card. Tiger would have showed him night that would have made CU recruiting coordinators blush back in the day.
  15. Named Division II Co-Defensive Player of the Year in Ohio. COngrats young man. Those are out of this world stats for a DLineman. My link
  16. It was in practice. Didn't say if it was just him kicking around or if it was live against their defense. All he said was it was during a practice.
  17. Ubben for once made a lot of sense in one of his blogs. And it is a crime that Rodney Stewart didn't even make honorable mention. I have actually liked him ever since he began outplaying wonder recruit Darnell Scott.
  18. Was I really that blind this year? Because I obviously missed Pierre outplaying Cam most games. I love me some Pierre Allen, but First Team? Honestly, I thought Cam played better and more consistant most of the year. 2nd team, no problem but first? Congrats big guy.
  19. I for one am worried about this one. His mother lives near Fayetteville and his father has family all around Arkansas. This could get iffy. On a football front the positive of playing for Bo and this staff severly trumps the staff and defense at Pig Suey. Same with acedemics. With the athletic complex they are building as we speak, the facilities could be a push. Playing in the SEC has a slight edge over playing in the Big X. But it will come down to Tevin's personal comfort, and with all that support group right around the corner it may become too much for NU to overcome. I obviously hope Tevin sees the opportunity that lays here in Lincoln for him now and his future, both as a person and as well as an athlete. Just don't like the Pig Suey thing....unless Dana Altman is standing there with no clue trying to chant along.
  20. I actually like this idea for a more serious look for a T
  21. NU will annually play the likes of Miami, FSU, Virginia, and Va Tech in the challenge. Would hate to see a top tier ACC team's RPI to unecessarily suffer by playing NU
  22. So does this mean that Eric absolutely aced the geology class better known as "rocks for jocks"? Makes sense right
  23. Demarco Murray=Marlon Lucky. Almost scarey how much their skillset compare to each other.
  24. Front-The Big X Back-At Least They Got Their $hit Together Dan Beebe, I Believe it's Spanish for Whale's Vagina
  25. Another Boomer game that always sticks out in my mind is the 90 game. NU is still recovering from the fourth quarter collapse to Hagan, Bienemy, and the Buffs in a freaking monsoon. Rebound and piss pound the Jayhawks and then head to Norman at 9-1 ranked in the top ten. It was a down year for Boomer, and I can't remember if it was Mickey Joseph(I believe it was) or Keith McCants at QB for NU, but on the opening drive he was shoved out of bounds late and crashed into the benches. The bench gashed his leg really badly, and the offense wasn't the same since. Boomer went on to roll NU 45-10 and NU closed against Georgia Tech in the Citris Bowl. The game just sticks out for that hit and how NU just packed up afterwards. Couldn't do a thing on offense after that. I just remember being pissed about that cheapshot. I was a huge Joseph fan back then. Pretty sure it was him. Any other older members remember this one.
