  1. These comments went on for weeks. Even after David continued to make play after play. Good point I hadn't even thought about. The funny thing is he was out of position...I only noticed a few times and I am sure Bo saw it more times then I did. But athletically he was able to make up for it. I have to keep it in perspective that David is probably an exception and not the rule, so I don't want anyone to think that Carnes could do the same type of things at the QB position. I just wanted to say it is a possibility. I manage a fairly large group of people and I have a reasonable amount of turnover. If I see potential, I will take it in the shorts for a long term gain. I don't know whether Carnes has it or not....I'm just throwing it out there. Given the chance, I think Carnes is going to look terrible. I don't think Huskernation would allow it.
  2. I don't have any reason to believe that Cain would be any different. I couldn't rationally debate it and I won't even try. I think it is a fair concern and I will leave it at that. I think the people rejoiced about Libya and Egypt because those rebellions cost the US so little compared to Iraq and Afghanistan. There is no question that the costs associated with Libya and Egypt are not even comparable to those in Afghanistan or Iraq. Hell, they aren't even on the radar. My concern is that we are now getting involved if in situations we have proven previously are no win for us. By overthrowing these dictators, we have made these countries more vulnerable then they were before. I believe that these countries (Iraq, Libya, Egypt) will eventually fall victim to radical Islam rule. The question then becomes who was the loser? My answer would be Americans and the citizens of that country(Iraq, Libya, Egypt). Why do you have a problem with allowing Iran's dictator speaking at a college? Why is he even allowed in our country? Hasn't Iran been a potential candidate for invasion for 10 years now? It is a huge slap in the face as far as I'm concerned. It is like the Mexican president lecturing our congress on Drugs and Immigration a year or two ago.
  3. Good questions. What I mean by real change is getting away from our politicians being for sale. I'm so tired of the Bush v Obama debates. They were both awful and we are all paying the price. Many prospered under Clinton, but some site sellouts to hedgefunds are really why we are in the mess we are in. The uptick rule and the glass-steagall act were both taken down on his watch. The rules are a large reason why so many hedgefunds have prospered on the the complete meltdown of our economy. The change that I see in Cain is someone that really doesn't have anything to prove and will do what he thinks is right. Our country is run by lobbyist (money) and I don't see him as being as vulnerable to the influence as we have seen recently. Unfortunately, I have nothing more then 'gut feel' to substantiate my beliefs. Look what it got us? Our current model is not sustainable. We're a mess and we continue to be a mess. I don't believe that one man will change that, but we have to stop business as usual. I'm of the opinion that our foreign policy over the last two presidents has been nothing short of a disaster. One week we support Israel, then next we don't. We overthrow a government in Iraq and Americans protest. We invade Afghanistan and there doesn't appear to be a plan. People protest about the amount of money it costs. We assist in the overthrow of two more governments (dictators) and America Rejoices. There are no questions about Libya and Egypt. We allow the Dictator of Iran to come to our country and speak to college students. 'Free Trade' is for free for every country except America......I'm starting to rant now. I'm not even going to get into spending, but it has to be reigned in (by both parties). I'm not blaming all of the current problems on Obama. That is ignorant and wrong. I do however believe that he isn't going to do anything to remedy any of the current issues we are facing.
  4. It's Fox News link. Some on here won't believe it unless it is announced on The Daily Show.

  6. I would like to see a different QB and I also was a big Dillard fan when he was here, but I think Dillard is out of line and we should move on.
  7. Cain has ZERO foreign policy experience and ZERO legislative experience. In fact, other than selling pizza (where he was asked to resign by his own board), Cain's only obvious strength is fear mongering about Muslims. What exactly do you think are his strengths? I think this a legitimate concern and any responsible voter should take note of it. On the other side, if that is a prerequisite, look what it has got us. I read these posts saying we need this or we need that, but I see nothing about 'We need leadership'. I met Herman Cain in the early 90's and I will admit, I was just a kid. The activities we were involved in, we were around him a handful of times. I will never forget the impression that he left on my father, a tradesmen and small business owner that is impressed by no one. My old man is a tough guy. My dad knew who Herman was and wasn't going to cut the guy any slack. Week after week when other parents wouldn't volunteer, Herman would step in. I saw it over and over again. He was the CEO Goodfather's and he's holding the first down marker because no one either team will volunteer (every week). I will never forget my dad telling me how impressed he was Herman and how intelligent and down to earth he was. I lived in the south for several years and I started getting Herman on the radio out of Atlanta. I kind of geeked out because I remember my father talking about him years earlier. With the exception of him filling in for Rush (Rush is worthless), I enjoyed listening to him. I'm going to sound Cliche, but I'll do it anyway. I think Cain represents real change. He would definitely be a break from the mold and if he can make it to the end I will be voting for him.
  8. They are averaging 45 rushing plays a game now. In a quick glance, I only noticed Georgia Tech, Army and Navy running more. I believe this offense will get stonewalled if they try to run anymore than they already are. Might be able to get away with it against Ohio State because they have no offense.
  9. When does a pass play not work? I'm just looking for some opinions. Does it not work when no one is open? Does it not work when there is no pass protection? Does it not work because the QB can't throw the ball to receiver that is open? Does it not work because the QB can't follow a progression? Do you not call a play when people are consistently open?
  10. Taylor's skillset is what it is, and its Becks job to adjust. Wrong! Its vice versa. Beck's offensive scheme is what is and its Taylor's job to adjust to the scheme. Otherwise an OC would come up with a new offensive scheme for every QB that comes into the program to tailor it to that QB. If the QB can't adjust to what the OC wants, the OC goes to the next guy. Thats why an OC recruits wants he wants out his QB, to minimize the amount of adjustments a QB has to make to get used to his scheme. The fact is, you don't change the offense to cater to 1 QB's skillset, you make him adjust to it, or move to the next guy. That was one of Shawn Watson's mistakes. I disagree, adjusting to the strengths of your QB doesnt require trashing the playbook. An OC that doesnt adjust to their players is one that fails. They all do it, that much seems obvious. Watsons problem was he didnt fit into what Bo wanted to do, Watson was a fine playcaller, he proved that in Bos first year. AGAIN, THEY ALL ADJUST!! There was a QB on the team that could manage the game very well. The offense controlled the entire pace of the game for a year. They kept a poor Husker defense off of the field. Few mistakes, fumbles, picks. A QB that threw the ball 30 times a game and completed 68% of his passes. He carried a passer rating of 153 which would put him in the top 25 QB's in the country today. You were trying compare it to what? So if an offense/defense/team is bad, it is because the coach isn't adjusting to his players? That sounds easy. Why hasn't anyone else figured this out yet? I can't wait until the coaches make adjustments to maximize Sean Fisher. The rumor is the adjustment will be to lay him on the ground near the line a scrimmage where they think the ball is going. This should adjust to his strength of not being able to be in position for a tackle.
  11. I saw him say it a few years ago in regard to the popularity of the spread offense. I think it was on a show like Gameday. It was kind of a what it T.O. doing now. It was between Congress and AD. I have no doubt that T.O. would be able to figure out an effective offense given the current game. Much like I have stated on here before, we are not dealing with Crouch, Frazier, the pipeline or T.O. for that matter. Crouch and Frazier were equally as one dimensional as T-Mart. I am of the opinion that they would not be effective QB's 15-25 years later (now). I believe there is too much speed now. You have to be able to stretch the field vertically, not just horizontally. There is a need for a little bit different personnel. But, that's just my opinion.
  12. Every one of these games, with the exception of Minnesota, is now a toss up. Persa is back for Northwestern now and they will continue to get better. He threw 4 TD's. They played tough against an Illinois team that looks like they know how to win in the forth quarter. were you looking at the stats or did you watch the game? Persa limped off the field still hurting from his achillies injury, and didn't come back in. He probably wont be right for a long time. I missed it...sorry. I just knew he was back and only saw a few of his passes.

  14. Stafford has to replace Fish. I know I'm in the minority, but I still don't think the DB's are in that bad of shape.
  15. Knapp, you know what bothers me the most about you? Whether you are talking politics, 40 yard dash times or offense on this board, you nearly always present an 'OPINION' as fact. It's constant and relenting.
  16. Some of our best play makers are at the receiver position. I've been hearing complaints the whole season about Turner and Reed not getting the ball enough. Quincy Enunwa and Kenny Bell are also good players. And now when we try to get them the ball its "were a run first team and should not be passing that much" Can't have it both ways people, make up your minds. What do you want? To get playmakers the ball or hand off to Burkhead or run a crap option to the weak side every play? You can easily get playmakers the ball without throwing into coverage or asking your rattled qb to sit in a pocket with no playaction to slow down the rush. Try a screen, a shovel pass, a reverse for turner and the backs. Try jailbreak screens and bubble screens and quick slants for the recievers. Option pass the deep ball to reed. Good gawd you act like the only way a reciever can touch the ball is if it's been thrown to him 15 yards downfield. My criticism of beck is for those 15 or 16 of 17 pass plays. That's not balance and we didn't need to panic. So yes we can have it both ways. Run the ball and sprinkle in passing plays down the field and into the flats.... Or you could dump it off to your WIDE FRICKEN OPEN running back.
  17. Stop with the straw men. This isn't what people are talking about at all. Gonna be a long year Knapp
  18. Here we ago again. If you question his skill set you attack him. Teach....please go in and add the same response to the Fischer and DB threads.
  19. Nuance, you've had a pretty solid year in the 'look-a-like' threads as far as I'm concerned. Well done.
  20. Get the player that has the most influence to getting the defense on the field a little more playing time. This can be done by moving T-Mart to safety.
  21. Replace Fischer with Stafford. I don't care that Stafford is undersized or a safety. Move him to LB.
  22. I wish he would have run on first down for two yards, second down for two yards and then had T-Mart throw a pick or incomplete on third down. Then of course punt. All this while the other team racks up points. It sounds like everyone one wants Watson back. The sad part is they don't even know it. The lucky thing for me is that I have no doubt we will see this at somepoint during the year. An OC that has weapons and no one to get it to them....poor guy.
  23. When are we going to stop comparing him to the two best QB's in the history of the program? Crouch not only was faster, he could actually make a move. He didn't need a 'Dump Truck' size opening at the line of scrimmage. Tommie Frazier had a career of playmaking. Neither of them could throw any better than Martinez. Their throwing abilities are all even as far as I'm concerned. He isn't Crouch. He isn't Frazier. They don't run anything that even resembles that offense.
