  1. Hmmm . . . He and that other dude both bit on the MSU player's cut for that TD. Reminded me of Harris scoring for Miami in '94. It was just a great player making a great move. Of course, they should have surrounded him rather than both going to the same side.
  2. I don't understand how any Husker fan could dislike Steve Spurrier. Any time Nebraska destroys a team I no longer hate them or their coach. I find them amusing and hope they win to make us look better. I was thrilled that Florida won it the year after we did. Best case scenario other than us 3-peating.
  3. It also doesn't take away the fact that one season is not enough to decide whether a coach is going to work or not. Why don't his seasons at Oregon State count? We've been over this several dozen times on this forum. But there are several obtuse people who think we're comparing apples to apples. It's not necessary to rehash it. It's not that they don't count. They just don't count nearly as much as some people think they should.
  4. Ya. I haven't seen a single MSU player or coach blame the loss on that play, even when asked specifically about it. Have to give them credit for that.
  5. I flat out cried. Then I called my mom and told her 17 seconds was way too much time left.
  6. Then why was he not giving interviews and hanging out in locker rooms after wins before? Maybe he took Bo's lesson to heart. Because Bo is Bo. I find it hard to believe Bo was welcoming and even wanted him around, despite the sh#t he spewed at the meeting. SE seems to have gotten along fine with another coach named Steve Spurrier.

    Iowa

Yes. I looked last night. Last time we played them it was at 2:30. I don't see why ABC would want to limit themselves to a certain time slot for the game.
  8. I agree. I don't understand fixing a topic title by someone who says they hate anyone. Unless it's, like, Hitler or Nickelback.
  9. It also doesn't take away the fact that one season is not enough to decide whether a coach is going to work or not.
  10. Still baffled by these types of posts. I don't like Pelini but beating a top ten team isn't something he never did here. And we don't have enough data on Riley @ Nebraska to see what his tendency will be.
  11. This is exactly what I expected after I researched MR's career. Lose some games you shouldn't, have big upset every now and then, and finish no higher than 3rd in the conference. I don't expect any final score blowouts either. MR is committed to stopping the run, so when teams get big leads, they run they ball and kill clock, but don't score. With Bo committed to stopping the pass, if a team was successful with the run, the score just kept climbing. In any case, this was a win that the seniors needed, and we needed for recruiting. I hope Iowa is undefeated when we play them. When is the last time Nebraska beat two undefeated teams with at least 8 wins in the same season? Dunno. This doesn't answer your question but in 2010 we beat 6-0 Oklahoma State and 6-0 Missouri.

    Aww

At least I'm assuming that's who it is. Bet Tommy told him about the hoverboard.
  13. what? Don't recall if it was last year or the year before, but the MSU defense would clap their hands (which was our signal to snap the ball) to cause our center to snap it when the QB wasn't ready. Refs never called it. A couple of MSU defenders later admitted that was exactly what they were doing. Is that illegal? Yes it is. The defense can't intentionally simulate the other team's snap count. I remember reading about the rule after the game. One of the MSU players admitted doing it on purpose at the NFL combine. On one of the plays it caused the center to snap the ball when Armstrong wasn't looking.
  14. After the win over MSU tonight Iowa has to be looking at us a lot more seriously. I'm not suggesting they fear us again....not yet. It's going to be hard for them to get excited to play a 5-6 (or a 4-7 - hopefully not) Nebraska team one week before playing in the Big Ten Championship Game.
  15. I'm neutral on him. I think he got the hate before this season because he's a redhead and a lawyer.
  16. FOR f#*k'S SAKE! Reasonable statement IMO. I mean, just because they were 32-3 in the past three years combined (including this one) coming into this game and undefeated this year doesn't mean you deserve to be a top 10 team. They barely beat Purdue, Rutgers, and needed 3 garbage time TDs to make the Indiana game look good (it's neck and neck for 3 quarters). Those are all really good teams, right? Of course they are, that's why MSU out gains their opponents per play by so very little. It would just look funny to do so if those teams were say at the bottom of the conference standings. Those other teams listed in the top ten must be the ones playing those sorts of teams, because they're out gaining their opponents by a ton more. (In all seriousness, don't define what you do by what you think your opponent is. When you go up in the air fighting for a ball against another grown ass man, you made that play. Doesn't matter what you think of the guy. If anything the past two weeks has taught us, it should be this.) I'm guessing this is your first year watching college football. Maybe you should watch some video tape of last year where everyone thought Florida State should be in the top 4 when they were undefeated, and they weren't wrong. Even though FSU had several come from behind wins. Being able to close out games is important, as any Husker fan should know considering how this season has gone. MSU had that... until they played us.

    Iowa

Do you remember reading that somewhere or is it a guess because it's always been at 11am vs. Iowa? The highest either team has ever been ranked for those games is #17 (and the teams were never both ranked). I always assumed that was why we played at 11am. I don't know why ABC wouldn't keep it open so they can put the best matchup late and the 2nd best at 2:30. Their only other reasonable choice is Miami at Pittsburgh, neither of which are ranked. And the game still says TBD.

    Iowa

They're going to be ranked #6 or #7 whenever the next rankings come out. 3 teams ahead of them lost today. I think Oklahoma State will jump them. But it doesn't matter much if they do because Baylor and Oklahoma State will play each other. So that puts Iowa at #6 at the worst when Nebraska plays them if they win their next 2 games. I really hope they're undefeated when they play Nebraska. They have Minnesota and Purdue left. They'll only have 6 days to prepare for Nebraska. Nebraska will have 13 days to prepare for Iowa. Iowa will be looking ahead to the Ohio State game which will be the next week (Iowa will have already clinched the West if they win their next 2 games). Our game better not be at 11am but I doubt it will be at night because TCU plays Baylor at 6:30. So hopefully 2:30. I'm excited. Hopefully we can beat Rutgers.
  19. I regret searching for pictures of prosthetic asses to post here.
  20. Link So ... the word "force" isn't even in there. All there has to be is "contact". There was definitely contact. Correct (non) call. The catch is if it is judged that Rielly initiated the contact. The defensive player is entitled to his position. If the offensive player continues to run into the defender that is not considered contact by the defender causing him to go out of bounds. Its a judgment call for sure. I think its a bad call. But, I also don't care. I think we were going to score anyway and plenty of calls have cost us games that were alto worse. Michigan St. did not lose because of that play. They lost by not putting us away and leaving themselves in a position where a judgment call whether something like this or PI could cost them the game. Kick the field goal in the first quarter and this doesn't lose you the game. Don't throw a pick with great field position in the first half. Sparty had plenty of chances to win this but at the end of the day we made the plays when it mattered most. Over the course of 60 min. we beat them. Where are you getting any of what you just posted from the rule above? Contact BY a defender. A receiver is not allowed to just run into a DB if a DB has position. That is not contact by a defender that is contact initiated by the receiver. Find me a clip where you can actually see who initiated contact, assuming that has anything to do with the rule.
  21. Are you sure? I wasn't aware of that from your other posts. I think you need to say it at least 30 more times before I can be certain that I understand. Shut your pie hole. I'm not the one making the same post 200 times using almost the exact same wording. Shut your own. This is called "Celebration Thread!!!!" not "Continue to make the same exact post about how much you dislike the coaches Thread!!!"

  23. Apparently Shawn Eichorst is capable of becoming friends with head football coaches. Our sample size was just too small before.
