  1. Also. In 2018, Nebraska lost the turnover battle, 3-2. Today, Nebraska lost the turnover battle...you guessed it...3-2.
  2. It's hard to say how the conference will own out. NW won the West last year, and they lost to Akron.
  3. I hope they can use this game as a wake-up call, that you can't take your foot off the gas no matter what. You're not good enough to sleepwalk through a game, even if you're up 17. Next few weeks are telling. Adrian has to be a better QB. He's the difference.
  4. What came after the loss was good though, so maybe the same thing can happen again.
  5. Just revisit 2018 Northwestern. Husker offense came out and scored 14 out the gates before cooling off and allowing Northwestern to make it a game. Huskers held the lead through the 4th quarter but have the ball to NW up 31-24, only needing to keep them out of the end zone. Unfortunately, the Wildcats scored with :12 left to the it 31-31 and force OT. In OT, Nebraska did nothing with the ball, Martinez had a costly mistake (INT). NW got it, kicked the GW FG, 34-31. Sound familiar?
  6. Yeah, I really think Adrians game was due to a vanilla game plan, zone defense, and the high snaps. Half seconds are important in this offense and high snaps cost precious time. I think the largest improvement comes between the first and second game.
  7. And...a win is a win. We didn't win until October last year, so it's nice to start off 1-0, even when we didn't give our best shot and received a better than average shot from our opponent. on to Colorado, let's hope we see a different offense.
  8. A surprisingly frustrating game, but that may be a good thing. I trust the coaches and players will take a good look at this game and work to fix what went on. Mainly concerned with the offensive line. The run game didn't get going and I think that gave So Alabama some momentum and belief. A lot of reasons for that, the high snaps, personnel available (Mills isn't a run side to side guy). I'm not as concerned with Adrian, he looked tense like he was over thinking things. He should just go out and play. Football is fun, and he didn't look like he was having fun. defense played really well. So Alabama's scores came from short fields. Everything else was mostly snuffed out. Tackling can improve, but I thought it was a good start.
  9. Offense gets points here and I'm good. Not extremely impressed. Lot of work that I know theyll do.
  10. What typically takes longer to settle: offense or defense? There's a lot of new parts on offense, or at least it feels like there is. Its been putrid today, but the D has stepped up.
  11. Well we were only 4-8 last year. Wonder whats up with Adrian. He looks way indecisive back there. Not being at the game, I'm wondering if it's on him or are the WRs not getting separation. It just looks off.
  12. Anyone else getting bottom screen ads on mobile? They're kind of annoying.
  13. Obligatory... https://www.theonion.com/no-way-to-prevent-this-says-only-nation-where-this-r-1820163660
  14. The guy drove from Dallas, TX, to El Paso presumably because El Paso is closer to the border and probably has a higher Hispanic population. Go shove your thoughts and prayers up your a$$.
  15. Swalwell is a bit of a jackass. When Jon Stewart showed up at Congress to talk about the 9/11 First Responders Bill, Swalwell was nowhere to be seen.
  16. Listen - I'm willing to bet 99% of managers/coaches would have made the same decision Erstad made to pitch Gomes. That's his role so that's who's going to pitch - matchup possibly be damned. I think the real error wasn't in pitching Gomes, but in throwing nothing but fastballs. Who that's on? I dunno.
  17. And in 2017 they made the post season and lost 2 games. Maybe in 2021 they'll play for a championship and win 2 games in the regional.
  18. Honestly, it's probably the bats that he needs to find a way to get going. It seems like they have some pretty good plate discipline (perhaps too much - not swinging at good pitches).
  19. I'm not surprised with today's result. They were essentially eliminated last night. You don't recover from blowing a 5-0 lead or a 5-2 lead just needing 3 outs. The Red Sox didn't recover after losing Game 6 when they had a 5-3 lead just needing 3 outs. The Rangers didn't recover after losing Game 6 to the Cardinals after having a 7-5 lead needing 3 outs, then a 9-7 lead needing 3 outs. Mentally, it's so hard to recover from that sort of gut punch. Just unfortunate that the end of last night's game was mishandled and maybe mismanaged. 17 straight fastballs to one of the better power hitting teams in the country. Yes, Gomes's ERA was the lowest in the pen, he's our closer - all the traditional reasons why he should've closed out the game last night are fine. We weren't facing a traditional team last night. Oklahoma State was the best HR hitting team we've faced all season, by far. The next closest power hitting team we faced was Ohio State, who had hit 20 fewer HRs on the year and we were never in a save position in that game. The next closest HR hitting teams we've faced were Creighton and Michigan, both whom had hit 24 fewer HRs than Oklahoma State. But - it's baseball! So what're you gonna do? Things just happen. No need to try to learn from them!
  20. Let's see how these guys bounce back. Crushing collapse last night, can't let that loss beat them again. Win, and get a bit of revenge over the Pokes later tonight.
