That's an interesting read. But I wonder how accurate it is? I mean, most of the stuff in that Facebook article seems like message board chatter. I wish I could discuss that article with an insider who worked in the athletic dept during that time. Like this, from the FB entry: Is there any truth to this, or is it just a message board rumor? Has anyone ever heard this verified by one of the regents? Inquiring minds want to know! He is a lawyer in Nebraska running for congress.

Bundle up matey, where the bowl is not a warm place this time of year. LOL Remember it is located in the Northern part of California, get that wind off the ocean and bay, cold balls! San Francisco - Bay area with Oakland across the bay and Alameda. Stationed at Alameda, Calf for a few months 1982 to 1983 before departing on a world cruise. They have a tunnel system under the bay from San Francisco to Oakland and vise versa - get a chance experience that ride. Plenty to do around San Francisco for sure - I am not sure if the trolley is still running, it had been a lot of years, changes happen. Anyone going to the game, safe trip and wish I could go!

Doing that didnt work well for the last guy. Thankfully Bo's focus on making good students is helping this coach get to a bowl game on 5 wins. Maybe MR should split his $150,000 bonus with Bo since that's the reason we qualify. They can say what ever they want about why BP was fired, he was fired because of the way he acted on the sideline, towards his bosses, towards the fan base and media. I was fine with his coaching and was very happy with the academic standards he set as a HC, but that type of personality is exhausting. If you have neve worked with or for someone like that you will never know. I have had a boss like that, it was like walking on egg shells all the time. One minute he was great and the next he would blow up about some stupid insignificant thing. If BP would have won 70+% of his games and had that type of academic record and a better additude about things, he would still be at Nebraska. He doesn't have to be the nicest guy in the world, he just needs to not be a big dick. True, Nick Saban is not the nicest guy in the world, neither is Mark Dantonio with the media, and they do show some displeasure on the sidelines, but it's not the over the top stuff we saw from Bo. I loved the Bo hire eight years ago, and I thought he was doing a good job in the first two or three years. It seems the move to the B1G didn't do so well, but then maybe after three years, that coincided with the less than stellar recruiting. But, how bad were those guys because he won nine games with them and Riley could only eek out 5......help I'm going in circles again. Harbaugh and Kelly are far worse than Bo. So is Saban if one actually watches their games. Personally, I'd rather see that than the "hands in pockets, stare at the ground and wait for it to be over" stuff that we see from other coaches. Kelly maybe Harbaugh no. Saban meh .I don't think any of these 3 cost their team a game due to tantrums like Bo did his this year. the difference is these guys win games that matter while Bo got his ass kicked repeatedly in the games that mattered and looked like a tool doing it. as for Riley, hes a f'ing zombie on the sideline and what looks to me des little as far as play calls or in game coaching. but there isn't a camera fixed on him like there was on Bo during games so I could be wrong. That was said about Oz for years when he stood on the sideling so if you are taking a shot at Riley, you are taking shot at Oz. Ozzy was calling the plays in for the O and thinking what plays to run. Riley is not calling the plays, big difference and not a smack on Ozzy either.

You know it should not only be Riley seat heating up, the AD seat should be heating up as well. Harvey is retiring as I am counting down the months.

How did Houston get Herman and we get Mr. average? I really have no idea. had we offered, I think he would have taken it. The bigger question, is the bolded. Can anyone remotely say why the hell we chose Riley. Regardless of record, past performance, culture etc the guy is 62. In the twilight of his career with nothing that screams winner or guy who can get it done. A buddy of mine said he has watched NU throughout the year and finally watched a complete game (Iowa) and said that Riley instilled no leadership on the sidelines. Walked around looking beat, no emotion, wasn't engaging the kids at all..... I'm stumped on the whole thing. Which is why I wish we had details about Eichorst's decision. Who else was a candidate? Was there another candidate? This is all just a bad nightmare. I'm convinced. Solich couldn't recruit, Callahan couldn't develop, Pelini divided the fan base, and Riley is career .500 Mr. Rodgers.... I'm convinced the next guy after Riley is going to be the one. Whenever it is. It's clear that Riley won't win here, and those who think he's going to deliver are truly (intentionally or unintentionally) blind. Bolded is false. Callahan inherited more and higher picks than Bo inherited. A more accurate statement would be that a handful of assistants fell down on the job (with a couple being on the ROAD program). That '03 staff could definitely recruit, though. Still boils my blood that we destroyed 30 years of history and success because of one man's ego. Do not forget Harvey gave the nod to letting Frank go. Yes, Frank was a good recruiter and I never believe what Pederson said about that. Always remember, people trying to cover their a$$e$ blame the lame duck in the room. I never did like Pederson or his egos.

Both of our kickers have done very well this season and should be congratulated. Read earned his salary here. But he didn't earn his salary anywhere else. I thought Stevenson did a good job when Read finally got him on the fieldWere you and I watching the same games? I thought Stevenson was an epic failure at kickoff returner. I thought Stevenson needed to stay on the freakin bench! Now he is gone.

Point out where I have said anything but being surprised about our record. Pure and simple, there has been much luck involved (and a bunch of hard work). You are right in that it is fun to gloat a bit, as Nebraska is no longer a top tier team, and there fans are no longer "the greatest blah, blah, blah" I think that many threads on this forum will support that.
