I agree that the officiating was brutal, but I honestly think that either earned or not, Nebraska has the reputation of being a highly penalized team, so the officials look for penalties instead of calling penalties.

Getting Burkhead would be HUGE. Not for because he's a phenomenal player, which he is, he's garnering legendary status in Texas High School football. Getting him on campus would attract many Texas HS studs to follow him to Lincoln.

Not that it matters much, but I read an interview from a pay site were C. Williams said that he didn't attend the Texas Tech game, he watched it on TV. There was a quote from C. Williams in that same article that I will make as my signature line once this kid gets to campus. It made the hair on my neck stand up. If we can get 21 other players like this kid, the Huskers will be where we want to be, and that my friends, is BACK on the mountain top. Getting Chris Williams on campus will be huge

I would imagine that you would be able to get it, since its a national game, but I was at Kirkwoods (Husker watch site, near downtown) last week and it was full of Huskers and even ran into a couple of old college buddies.

Not that this makes any difference now, but Wags said publicly that Calllllllahan changed the way Wags coached. Wags loves physical, smash-mouth offensive line play and BC didn't.

Plays under control and has shown the ability to take good steps out of his stance and use good leverage. Gets under blockers' pads pretty consistently, despite his height. Can be physical at the point of attack and able to hold his ground. Can play half a man and secure a gap. Has very active hands and uses them to good, violent effect. Shoots them coming off the ball, gets good position and can shed after he engages. Shows the strength to create separation, but sometimes tries to spin out of blocks. Needs to do a better job of locating the ball during plays, but he won't blindly run upfield when left unblocked. Senses when something is up, stays low and square, and shuffles. Has good speed for a big guy and flashes a closing burst. Can run a bit upright, but he's athletic enough for an interior lineman to provide support on the perimeter. Has a good motor and will pursue, but (like many high school prospects) needs to learn to do it every snap. He's a disruptive pass rusher who can push back a blocker and collapse the pocket. Has the active hands to knock a blocker out of his cylinder or knock his hands down. Runs line twists effectively, attacking tight off of the penetrator's butt, but sometimes telegraphs the stunt. Well-built and pretty fundamentally sound, Adams is a very good prospect. With additional bulk and fine-tuning, he can grow into a very good college player. From ESPN

He is essentially a running back at quarterback in an option-oriented scheme, but he is so versatile and we see him being a serious safety candidate as well. He possesses a sturdy frame and is a tight-skinned athlete-- very muscular. Runs well, has great feet and has a knack for creating and getting out of trouble when asked to throw the football in an offense that is not based around throwing to win. He is gritty and tough and has leadership qualities that are out of sight. You respect his demeanor, style and hard-nosed effort. He shows good acceleration and quickness as a runner. Vision is excellent and he is no-nonsense in his running style. Cuts, jabs and gets upfield immediately. Possesses enough vision and lateral quickness to exploit cutback lanes and cut back against the grain when at the second level. Shows very good balance and pad level and is difficult to bring down. He does show some stiffness to him and is not overly fluid in the hips. Has very good speed, but we would not term him to be a burner. He has an overachiever element to him that adds a chip on his shoulder. He doesn't show the smooth wiggle that would allow for him to make multiple defenders miss on a consistent basis. We are not so sure that in time he won't end up being a safety/strong safety candidate. He has a lot of John Lynch-type qualities to his style. Nebraska does have quite a bit of young talent at certain positions, but we are also lacking talent at a couple of positions, namely linebacker. Our depth chart at LB has two true freshmen, two other scholarship LB's, a converted running back and 2 walk ons, one who starts. I do think that Fischer and Compton are very talented, but no one around the country knows it, oh, but they will.

Hunter 94 is exactly right, and I'm not sure that Herian fits the mode either. Oh, yeah, when healthy, he was a pass catching, down the middle of the field for a long pass and TD stud, but he couldn't block you or me in a phone booth.

I like the fact that we finally have the passing attack to throw it when there is 8, 9 or 10 defensive players in "the box." Keep passing it until either the game is over or the opposing defense switches schemes.

a follow-up to the original question. What sites do you look at for information on college or NFL wagering? I've been reading Covers.com and MadJackSports.com, but I was looking for a few more, especially with forums.

I read in the weekly West Point newspaper that Micah tore his ACL (it didn't say how) and will have to redshirt in 2008. 99.9% sure he was going to redshirt anyway, but now its official.

This is a pretty good get, but he's isn't any near the talent of Salle. I've heard he has some serious grade issues and if he becomes eligible, he will have to work hard in the classroom to stay eligible. On the plus side, he's got great quickness, court vision and can light it up, but Doc's going to have to get him to play within the system and get him playing defense.

I would be freaking out, but I REALLY don't want to jinx this. He is the real deal down here in Texas. I want this kid to be a Husker! makes you wonder why more top level programs havent shown interest. especially texas, i understand they already have commitments, but if he was as good as some people are making him out to be, the Horns would have already locked him up. dont take this post as a knock towards Cody Green, i want him to be a husker as much as the next guy, but having missed his entire junior season, i am hesitant to fill up on the cody green kool-aid. Well one benefit that I know his commitment would do is start the ball rolling well for recruiting. Others will follow. I agree, once we get the commitment from Green, he'll be our best recruiter out there, but that also worked against us last year with Gabbert, but I doubt that if Green commits, that he renegs, there ain't gonna be any coaching changes at Nebraska for a long, long time.
