  1. I watched about 2 minutes til i couldn't stand it any more. I hit Instagram instead and watched Stormy Daniels fold laundry, and eat cheetos in her underwear. Much better option imo.
  2. People had all kinds of terrible reasons for voting for Trump but they did it anyway. From what i've seen average Joe voter is very uninformed on policies, and facts about who a candidate really is, and very easily manipulated into believing what they are told. They were told repeatedly that Hillary was a liar and without any research into whether that was true or not they believed is wholeheartedly. They also been told socialism is bad and reacted the same way.
  3. I think the GOP would do the same thing to Bernie, that they did to Hillary. They picked a few things to smear her and repeated them feverishly until they became "True". Centrist voters ,republican lite, swing etc voters bought the Benghazi, Emails, Crooked Hillary hype and recoiled from her. I think they would brand Bernie as a crazy old socialist who wants to give everyone free stuff , and those same voters would do the same thing. Without appealing to swing voters, i'm not sure any candidate can, win the electoral college and beat Trump Great info thanks .
  4. I like Gabbard and Warren. i just think Gabbard may be too far left, and Warren may be too much establishment, to get the votes. I saw Gillibrand on Colbert last night i think shes an intriguing choice
  5. What an idiot ugh!! Unfortunately i watched the video . Between the stupid hat, the garbage spewing from his mouth, or the completely failed attempt at humor, all i wanted to do was punch him repeatedly, until he stopped talking.
  6. All of those teams except Ohio state lost their bowl games. Why would how would putting them in the playoffs against even better teams make it more exciting?
  7. That factory still offer a pension? My company had a full pension at 30 yrs and you kept your health insurance . The payout got better for every year of service over 30 too, so was well worth your while to stay as long as possible . That’s gone now, so the younger guys really don’t care about staying here forever any more .
  8. We used to have them here all the time too . As the older guys left the parties have died way down . With no pensions any more 30 years of service means nothing . Older guys are looked at as liabilities not respected , and the influx of foreign (often short time ) workers makes long time friendships more difficult .
  9. I still want the national champions to prove they are the best all year long, to win their conference championship game, and to win a head to head match up with number 2. Bringing in the 8th best team and giving them another chance to compete for a championship in a postseason tournament, when they didn't do any of those things, cheapens the regular season, and cheapens the accomplishments of those who did. Can number 7 get hot in the tournament and beat number 1? Yes. Does that really prove they were the best team in football that given year? Not to me. Tournament Champs maybe, but not a true National Champ.
  10. As far as north vs south goes I think it’s a talent issue . I don’t have stats to back it up but I’d bet the south produces more 5 star talent than the north and proximity to home weighs on those players college choice . As far as a playoff I think this year proved the system works as is . The 2 teams in the championship game were the 2 best teams all year and proved it.
  11. My dad was a guidance counselor too . He retired at 60 . Between his Air Force retirement , teachers pension , and social security he had a comfortable income and lived 25 more happy years with no job . I think it’s great they got to do that , sadly my situation will not be the same .
  12. I think sooner or later we are going to have universal healthcare in this country . My opinion is that if it’s done too fast or drastically it won’t work though . Crashing the big insurance companies, and all the people they employ, all at once could have dire effects . My solution would be to gradually expand Medicare til everyone is covered . Start with everyone over 50 ? And go from there .
  13. I don’t think there’s any chance of getting a 70% tax on the rich, and honestly don’t believe that would work if we did. I do agree they need to contribute more to the country than they currently do I just don’t think that’s the way to do it . I would definitely want to see the massive, unnecessary, tax breaks they already got reversed, and put the corporate tax rate back where it was . I would also tighten the loopholes that allow many wealthy people to get out of paying anything at all . Personally I wouldn’t mind paying taxes if the money was used for universal healthcare , social programs , education , infrastructure , national parks , the environment etc instead of massive military spending , corporate handouts , border walls , etc .
  14. Watched a couple seasons of Ozark i thought it was pretty good. Big little lies - liked it (hbo go ) Sharp objects - liked it ( hbo go ) Sinner - liked it Unabomber - meh Bloodline - couldn’t do it Handmaids tale - super depressing couldn’t do it
  15. I would define retirement as getting to a point where i had enough money i didn't HAVE to work any more. Every day would be lived on my terms, and my way. The only reason I work is for money , and I have plenty of interests to pursue if time/money allowed it. I cant imagine being bored or needing to work at all. As far as a party, I think that's a thing of the past. People used to work the same place for 30 +years to receive and pension/benefits for retirement in return. The party was to celebrate that accomplishment, show respect, and say goodbye to coworkers/ friends you'd worked with most of your life. None of those things apply much any more
  16. The tapes I’ve seen of him look good, and we could definitely use a back like him . Rules is rules though, and we all have to abide by them, no matter how dumb they are . I hope he gets that part of his life straightened out and makes it to campus, otherwise good luck elsewhere .
  17. Wandale of course . He is a dynamic play maker perfectly suited to this offense. 4 year starter IMO Benhart , Giant dude will push for playing time right away, and will only get bigger/better McCaffery, One of my favorite players in the class. We are one twisted Martinez knee from seeing him on the field at QB, and if not i see him on the field in another capacity. If hes any where near as good as his Dad/brothers, we need him on the field. Ty is another giant guy who could see action early due to lack of an effective pass rusher. Plenty of upside with this guy too Hannah is a steal IMO he could see playing time also . Big body guy who i think will surprise people Garrett is a grown man already with room to grow more. Hes a Nebraska kid with a high motor, who wants this as much as anyone in the class Really like Henrich too i think he may need to bulk up some but WTH do I know lol I think the same about Hickman Rahmir is from Jersey so nobody knows who he is, but he has great speed that I'm sure Frost will find a way to use Nance could see early playing time too dynamic playmaker I dont see a bust in this class though im sure there will be one or two, there always is. I could see some of the OL and DL guys needing time to build their bodies and knowledge before being contributors.
  18. That was a great thread, that I’ll admit I spent way too much time obsessing over . Totally worth it though . Lol
  19. I think we have some talent at WR and one of them will separate from the pack as a solid number 2 to JD. I like seeing them target the TE and use possession guys like Warner too . Plenty of weapons for Martinez to throw to . I don’t see Mccaffery beating out AM for a QB spot and if he doesn’t I think we need him on the field, possibly at reciever . I think Frost will want him on the field making plays whatever way he can .
  20. The difference between this year and last year for me is the feeling we can compete with anyone, and that the program as a whole is getting better . Last year felt hopeless, and I thought if Riley stayed the program could actually get even worse . I turned off 2 games last year at halftime for the first time in 30 years of Husker football and I’m confident I won’t have to do that any more. I don’t see how anyone who actually watched all our games this year couldn’t see a vast improvement in almost every aspect of the program . The future is definitely bright for the Huskers . GBR
  21. 1. I learned there's no quit in this team. They battled awful weather, bad reffing, and turnovers to win the game. Unfortunately i've become used to the Huskers losing games , or getting blown out in situations like that ,and im confident that will not be the case going forward. Proud of the total team effort, and a hard fought win. 2. Great to see on the field leaders this year like Tre Bryant. Mo Barry, Mick, Adrian, Stanley, Zig etc. Their play making abilities, knowledge, and presence on the field make everyone else better. 3. Great to see guys like Jack Stoll and Kade Warner, making some plays too. They will be solid contributors going forward. With Allen and Rafdal at T.E. and Speilman, Mcquitty, Woodyard, Williams plus new recruits i think A.M will have plenty of targets next year. 4. Cool to see Pickering getting some love after a shaky start. He stepped up when we needed him big shout out .
  22. First game ever . 1996 Colorado game . Great game , lousy weather . Rain ran down my poncho and Into my boots til large woman in front of me sat on it and ripped it off . Soaked and freezing but Huskers won ! Went to several more Husker /buffs home games through the 90s all good games and husker wins . 2005 Wake Forrest was a good game too . Beautiful weather , good seats Zach Taylor throwing darts but also getting sacked many times . I could hear him hitting the ground clear up in the seats , and I have no idea how he kept getting back up. Huskers won big . Favorite game was 2010 Missouri game when Helu ran all over them . Great seats he was running right at us on a couple of those TDs . Glorious day and big Husker win . Least favorite game was 2015 Northwestern . Missed the 1st quarter drinkin /tailgating , expected an easy win . Stadium was as dead as I’ve ever seen it , other than lots of booing and angry fans . Remember feeling we should have easily won but we pissed it away . Only loss I’ve seen live . 10-1 record overall in games I’ve attended. All home games .
  23. In the mid 90s when they started coming to the plant very few could /would speak English . The company accommodated them by changing things to Spanish launguage , hiring Spanish speaking supervisors , and interpreters . If we had to interact with them , train them etc we usually had to find an interpreter, or try to understand Spanish ourselves .I thought that was wrong . Over the years through necessity , and our own desire to get along, many more do speak English, and I’ve also learned quite a bit of Spanish too . It’s become much less of a problem . Ill address anything anyone wants to discuss further in the immigration threads . I’ll let this one get back to its regularly scheduled programming . lol
