  1. Trev also didn’t have support of the big boosters (Peed). Trev had to let Frost hang himself in 2022.
  2. I just don’t think it’s that easy to say that. The defense has been very good, but they could still have blow-up game(s) where they give up a bunch of points. I just don’t get the thought of NU would run away from everyone else if the offense was above average. That’s way too many assumptions on the offense and special teams.
  3. Every other team in the Big Ten West is saying the same thing about themselves and the rest of the division.
  4. I’m gonna be there with my son for the Purdue game. Glad it’s a 2:30 kickoff.
  5. Northwestern hasn’t had a full blown coaching search since Gary Barnett was hired in the early 90s. Randy Walker was a Barnett assistant who took the job when Barnett went to Colorado, and then Fitzgerald went from Assistant Coach to Head Coach following Walker’s unexpected death. They might be due to do an actual coaching search.
  6. I think Rhule has to stick with Haarberg at QB until HH gives reason that he shouldn’t be playing. Whether this is from not getting enough offense production or turnovers forcing NU to lose games, Rhule has to stick with the starting QB who is winning games. That doesn’t mean Sims won’t play, but Haarberg has been good enough to keep the starting job. It could be a short leash for Haarberg though.
  7. Burrow lost the Ohio State QB battle in Spring 2018 to Dwayne Haskins. Haskins then had a great year in 2018, and was drafted in the first round of the 2019 draft. But, yes, Ohio State had the first “bad evaluation” of Joe Burrow. Basically, not many expected Burrow to be what he’s been in the 2019 season and beyond.
  8. I also don’t blame a kid for taking all of his official visits he has available and checking out a big national game at night. If a school is gonna pay for your travel and ticket to a big game, might as well take advantage of it.
  9. The sad part is that the rest of the division is so bad that Iowa could score less than 20 points per game and finish 8-1 in conference play.
  10. I’ve learned that getting to 20 points in a game will put NU in a great position to win that game. Also Braelon Allen was a lot better as a freshman than he is right now.
  11. The whole Big Ten West is lame, including Nebraska.
  12. Scott Frost would have been proud of the way Sparty blew that game over the course of 5 minutes of game time.
  13. Mark Jones was better with Robert Griffin III because they could both do the hip hop references and totally be bits in the booth. Those 2 actually grew on me as a duo. Now Jones and Griffin are with partners who don’t mesh.
  14. Yes!!! That's why I called Deion the "Ultimate Dad Coach". His coaching career would suggest that he's only interested in coaching his kids. I wonder if part of wanting to coach Shedeur and Shilo is because Deion, Jr. had a mediocre college football career. Now Deion, Jr. didn't have the size to be a big time college football player, but Deion made sure he could have his thumb over Shedeur and Shilo.
  15. The sad part about the CU student section is that many of them are probably thinking "I liked USC or Stanford when I was a kid, but I couldn't get into school there, and I ended up at CU, so it's not terrible to lose to these teams."
  16. My son and I went to the NU-CU game in Boulder in September. The guy behind me said he played college football at Iowa, and wasn't a Colorado fan, he was just there because he liked Deion. During the CU-USC game a couple of weeks ago, I was out at a mall 15 minutes from the CU-Boulder campus. I was sitting in the hallway, and a lady asked his son "When does Coach Prime play today?" It wasn't "When does CU play today?" she was asking only about "Coach Prime". The game happened to have been going on at that time and I gladly responded to her "It's going on right now, and they are down 14-0."
  17. Deion's team just got his asses kicked.......by a bunch of god damn nerds..........NERDS!!!!
  18. Shedeur is a lot better QB than I thought he would be, and he's been the main reason CU won games early in the season. It's also obvious that TCU was overrated, CU got way too much credit for beating CSU in OT (while 3 TD favorites), and the "close game against USC" was also overblown. Players will want to come play for Deion wherever he is coach, but what is he doing to actually build a program? I know recruiting is the lifeblood of a program, but what else is Deion doing? I think the big unknown with Deion is what is he doing to do once his kids leave college football? Shedeur may come back for another season because he's making more than $3 million in NIL opportunities, and he should have a better o-line next season. However, what is Deion going to do after the 2024 season? It was worth the risk for CU to bring in Deion and give the program and school a shot in the arm. That also worked for the first month of the season. But, as I have said in the "First Year Progress" thread, it takes more than one month or one season to build a successful program.
  19. As a team, CU isn’t very good. Shedeur is a very good QB, who has some good receivers. The media has over-hyped everything they have done this year. The media acted like CU won, because they were able to make it close against USC at the end of that game. I doubt the media will mention much of the worst blown lead in Colorado history. Where is Deion’s coaching prowess to allow his team to give up that huge lead? Also, did he tell CU to go on offense first when it was their choice in OT? He did that against CSU, too. That’s a terrible coaching decision.
  20. You are exactly right about the Florida “doc” on Urban Meyer and Florida. It’s not even a documentary, when it’s produced to be a puff piece PR show about Meyer. These Netflix shows call themselves documentaries, but they are far from it. Real documentaries are done by filmmakers with no connection to the subject, and show both sides of a story.
  21. The angles taken by our defenders is vastly improved, as well. The aggressiveness and effort seen in our tackling has been great to see.
  22. It was basically a grading of coaches performance of “Offense BAD, Defense GOOD, Head Coach combined to be average”. I think the better way to judge is by position group performance, but not coaching performance. Not sure how coaches can be evaluated given the different circumstances of available talent, injuries, and other factors.
