  1. I think it was poor manufacturing by adidas, where the jerseys turned more of a cream color after being washed. NU's helmets used to be more of a cream color, until the early 2000's, when they shifted to more of a "bright white". I think Pederson made that shift. I liked the old, cream helmet shells. Yes, that's the issue, but I just like for uniforms to be more....uniform.
  2. Good one. I actually had a conversation about different shades of red with my son the other day. His baseball team's colors are red and white (with some black trim). The past couple of years, the reds in the different parts of the uniform haven't matched. Their red jersey was more of a crimson, while the hats and socks were more of a scarlet color. I was annoyed with that color consistency. It shouldn't be hard to get matching shades of red.
  3. I read a uniform blog almost everyday called uni-watch.com. The lead writer (who also writes for ESPN) hates the trend of teams having alternate uniforms in black (or now gray) when black (or gray) isn't a team color. He calls is teams wearing "black for black's sake" (BFBS, for short). When the student section, wants to have a b*******, to me it's much of the same thought, they just want to wear BFBS. I understand that the Blackshirts are a huge tradition for the football team, but it's just the color of a practice jersey. The school colors are SCARLET and CREAM, so it's just easier to wear those colors. Now, everyone get off my lawn.
  4. I know the topic of a "b*******" is always a heated discussion, and I am a pretty traditional, 40+ year old Cornhusker fan. I don't go to many games anymore, but on Saturdays in the fall, I am almost always wearing RED. I just like having Nebraska shirts in red, because that's what Nebraska is, we are RED. I have one black Nebraska polo that I wear to work on occasion, but even that feels weird. So, if I am going to a Nebraska game, either in Lincoln or on the road, I am 99% certain I am going to wear red.
  5. I did notice more banks open this year on Native American Genocide, err Columbus Day.
  6. Columbus Day was great when I worked for a company that was closed on every bank holiday. Other than that, it's pretty useless.
  7. It's odd that there's no mention of Matt Snyder, who was supposed to be a stud recruit from the 2015 class. I know he's been slowed by injuries his first 2 years in Lincoln, but he was a guy who many thought could come in and play right away as a true freshman. This guy can't sniff the field and isn't mentioned by Riley or Langsdorf as "possible TE's to look for".
  8. Nebraska is a bigger underdog this week against Purdue, then it was in 2015 against #6 Michigan State.
  9. Plus, all the rednecks in the stands makes the Sea of Red even redder!!!
  10. I don't think new staffs do a lot of tape review of players after they take over a new program. This is especially true if the games are bad losses. I don't know how much they would get out of it, because if it's not their system, they won't know what is actually being asked of the players. I think most coaching staffs prefer to start things fresh with winter conditioning and spring practice.
  11. Sounds good. I would love Frost, but I also won't be jumping off the cliff if it's not Frost. Whoever is named, I would like a coach that is on the younger side of the age-range and that has the potential to be a home run hire. I actually thought Pelini had the potential to be great, but I didn't know he could be a complete lunatic at times. He also didn't like the Nebraska microscope and was looking to get out of here as soon as he could.
  12. I guess that's a fair question. I'm sure there will be feelers put out, but are you going to be upset because a younger, less experienced head coach is hired?
  13. Riley mentioned in his press conference today that Bryant is headed for surgery, and will miss the remainder of the season. Good candidate to receive a medical redshirt for this season.
  14. I agree that the Frost hype and hysteria has gotten a bit out of hand. I really like Frost, and I think he will end up being a great coach, and I hope he ends up at NU. I think he ends up being a "first tier" coach. However, when you comment about going out and getting a current "first tier" coach, it's practically impossible to hire a successful coach at a current Power 5 conference school, and bring him to another P5 school. It just doesn't happen.
  15. I was posting mainly on a board called Bigredboard.com during that time. Those guys were HUGE Callahan fans and totally hated Osborne, Solich, and anything related to NU's past. They just about lost it during 2007, because they couldn't believe Callahan was failing so much. They were handing out suspensions left and right to people who had the gall to question Callahan and the staff. It was all very funny. In 2007, many of the people that were posting on BRB, shifted to a site called Huskerfanclub.com. That site started out pretty well, but they had pretty tough rules of joking around and even being too critical of NU. Their tag line was "Serious Husker talk for the serious Husker fan". I started posting here regularly about 3-4 years ago. Huskerfanclub.com doesn't exist anymore.
  16. Are those stats normalized for opponent or something? I thought their offense is in the top 10 overall.
  17. Thanks for posting the HCT, Mav. That was some good stuff. I really enjoyed seeing that zone read play where each running threat had a pulling linemen leading the way. That's some good old power football.
  18. I think Gebbia or POB would be serviceable in Frost’s offense. While I think Frost would like a little more of a run threat in order to make the zone read more effective (so the defense actually has to respect the QB run option), I think Frost would be able to tailor the offense to what those QB’s do well. I know UCF’s QB was slightly injured against Navy, so he wasn’t running the ball that often, but I didn’t see their QB being Lamar Jackson or Marcus Mariota back there. I think Darlington would be a terrible idea. I understand he would still like to be a QB, but he hasn’t sniffed being a QB in action since he was a junior in high school (his injury occurred early in his senior year). Plus, he would only have one year of eligibility left. It would be best for POB and Gebbia to battle it out (if they stay). This is also assuming that Lee goes pro if Riley is fired.
  19. So, the o-line has more depth, but the o-line coach still sucks. The RB’s return, but he OC doesn’t want to use RB’s except to make sure they can block for the QB. Yes, the West is pretty crappy, but NU has become one of the crappy teams in the West. Riley is basically doing at NU, what he did the last 5 years at Oregon State. I understand he was pretty good from 2006-2009, but that’s when he peaked. Teams and coaches figured him out, and he has been Mediocre Mike for nearly a decade.
  20. McKewon has been very critical of Riley’s approach before this season, and his reversal of opinion this past week after Ohio State. Before the season, Riley said that he “really liked his team and especially what Lee could do at QB”. Then after Ohio State, Riley’s tune changed and said that he still likes what they are “building, but they are still young, especially on defense”. Riley would have been better off preparing the media and the fans that this could be a tough season based on all the new starters and young players that were going to be playing, especially on defense. This is another miscalculation but Riley.
  21. Go to the Foo Fighters. This is a relatively meaningless Huskers game in a forgetful season. Two years ago I passed on going to Illinois with a group of friends, mainly because Chris Cornell was playing a concert in Denver. I went and saw Cornell with my wife. One of the best decisions I have made in my life. The decision was made even better when NU got Rileyed in Champaign and lost.
  22. I think Green and Bounds will have the half empty Memorial Stadium during the 2nd half of Ohio State burned in their minds. That memory, along with their edict of NU athletics “being competitive” should signal the end for the Riley era. If it doesn’t, I have serious questions of what Moos, Green, and Bounds are doing.
  23. I also wouldn’t call Frost’s offense a finesse one. It’s a power spread. They spread out the D horizontally, in order to create mismatches and attack it vertically. On UCF’s big run to go up 21-14, I their WR make a block on the outside like NU used to. That was a thing of beauty.
  24. I’m not smart enough to tell the difference between UCF’s 3-4 and our 3-4, but it does look way different. It is tough to tell by going up against an offense like Navy, but I haven’t seen the Blackshirt play fast and aggressive and make big hits like UCF has today.
  25. I’ve been impressed by UCF’s D. They are fast, aggressive, and do a very good job of shedding blockers to make plays.
