  1. Let me get this straight, we laugh at athletes like Cardale Jones who make tweets like "I didn't come to Ohio State to play school", but also get upset with Rose-Ivey for going to colleg and having thoughtful opinions on a subject matter that is very relevant in today's United States?
  2. Some people want Rose-Ivey to stick to football when he is in a football uniform, with the football team, in a football stadium, during the football game. Any other time and place, nobody would care. Barring that, then we are back to the hornet's nest analogy. If you kick a hornet's nest, the reaction and consequences are all out of proportion compared to the kick, but that's just how it is. Now he knows. Do you feel Rose-Ivey is being disrespectful to his team, coaches, and University by doing this demonstration in a Husker uniform?
  3. I understand the sentiment of "keeping football at football games", but Rose-Ivey has the visibility and ability to make a political statement that the random person doesn't have that ability. I commend him for being willing to take such action. I don't get why some people want Rose-Ivey to stick to football. He is a student-athlete that is obviously taking his education very seriously and has thoughts and opinions that he wants to speak out on. That is exactly what being college student is about, becoming interested in a topic and giving thoughtful opinions on that topic.
  4. I'm saying he exercised his right of free speech, somebody else is exercising theirs. Don't kick a hornet's nest if you don't like being stung, if indeed he did receive any texts as he described. Threats of physical violence are not protected under the right of free speech.
  5. So exactly how are MRI making a public statement for something he strongly believes in and people giving him and his family anonymous death threats the same thing?
  6. Sam McKewon was on TBL today, and made a good comment about Nebraska just having physical superiority against 3 of the 4 opponents so far. That superiority is not only S&C, but simply having better players and more of them, and that enables Nebraska to take control of those games in the 2nd half. He notes that last season, Riley and his staff struggled to do that. They didn't appreciate the pure physical advantage (through recruiting and talent) that NU is going to have over a number of opponents. The coaches were too caught up in the scheme and matchups. Sometimes, the coaches need to think "If we keep doing what we are doing for 4 quarters, eventually we are going to beat this team up", and that's what has happened. I'm not trying to poo-poo what Phillip is doing with the S&C, because I think he is doing a great job. But, Nebraska is a program that should be able to recruit a far number of better players where they have a big talent advantage over half of the teams in conference and they should be able to enforce their will and get the win through 4 quarters of play.
  7. I don't think Williams' return to in-game coaching will have any impact on the game plan and how Langsdorf is calling plays. Williams has probably been heavily involved in the game planning for the first 4 games.
  8. Actually, none of these rankings matter because none of these polls makes an difference other than as a talking point.1-4 matter greatly after championship weekend.Only the ranking in the CFP Committee poll, which hasn't voted yet for this season. And even then, only the last poll matters. The Coaches Poll and AP poll impact the opinions of the CFP committee, so they aren't meaningless. #allpollsmatterI doubt it. Look who's on the CFP committee and tell me if you think those people care about other polls. The CFP committee are human beings that make opinions based on their perception of the college football teams. Do you honestly think that the AP and coaches polls have no bearing on their perception and opinions of the college football teams? Allow me to elaborate my original post: The only rankings that matter are 1-4 decided by the playoff comittee. Hope that clears things up. I understand what you are saying, but the Coaches Poll and the AP Poll impact the thoughts and opinions of the playoff committee. So, when you say "the only rankings that matter are the CFP committee", that is a flawed statement.
  9. Sam McKewon's article today mentioned Riley and his staff seem to be coaching with a greater sense of urgency this year. I could be wrong, but I think a lot has to do with how bad last year was. Eichorst probably went to him in the off-season said "Hey, Mike, I like you and if it were up to me, you would have 3-4 years to turn things around. But, these fans are crazy in Nebraska, and you can't have another losing season, and it would be awesome for the both of us if you got 9 or 10 wins this year." So, I think Riley and Langsdorf went to work to devise an offense that best utilizes the talents of Armstrong, as well as make NU fans "happy".
  10. I'm not going to get worked up either way where NU is ranked right now. It will all work itself out anyway. At this point, it appears there are 7 teams that are a level ahead of the rest of the teams in the country, and the remaining of the top 25 could be ranked in any order. Remember, it's a top 25, so there has to be 25 teams ranked.
  11. There isn't any current research that shows this stuff works. The research is showing that icing injuries could be delaying recovery. I think all people are different. Some person may respond well with this type of therapy, while others won't. I don't think the entire team is required or doing this type of therapy. It's something that Kieron sees some benefit from.
  12. Miles isn't going to be coaching at Nebraska. The guy is 63 years old, he has a fat payout from LSU, and he can enjoy life for a while.
  13. This kid been special for us. You see him around the ball on every play except on those deep passes, obvious reasons, if he stays healthy i would argue he should at least make the end of year all big ten team Young has been pretty good this year, but he needs to do a better job of fighting off blockers. He hasn't progressed this year as much as most people thought. Outside of MRI, the LB play hasn't been all that special this year. Agreed. LB's have showed flashes but not quite enough to match the preseason expectations. Bray was great last season, so I'm hopeful the LB's will make the jump from flashes of greatness to very good to great play consistently. Just a guess, but I wonder if last year's LB play was due to stud DT's occupying more blockers and allowing the LB's being able to flow to ball and make plays. That's a good point, but I think the LB's have struggled more on outside runs and pass coverage, so not sure if that can be attributed to the DT's. Agree with you 100%. DT's can help out the LB's on certain plays only.

  16. Wilbon definitely has some nice wiggle. Reggie Davis has commented that Wilbon will be a part of the offense going forward. It looks like the coaches like to go with the "hot hand" at RB, so Wilbon could be in line for more carries this year.
  17. Why do people always want to point out "passes that should have been picked". Dropped interceptions happen all the time, and to even the best QB's. There are going to be missed throws and potential interceptions. It's stupid to play the What If game.
  18. Totally!!! The Indiana QB had nearly 300 passing yards in the first half, but had 3 INT's, including one pick 6. Super lame!!!
  19. I'm not sure, that may have been our first win in all white??The upside is our guys have picked up quite a few ladies down at the docks. Off the top of my head, here is what I have. 2016-beat Northwestern 2015-lost to Northwestern 2014-beat Illinois 2013-lost to UCLA 2012-beat Wisconsin This is the first time NU has worn an all-white "alternate uniform", but NU has won in the all-white "regular" in recent seasons.
  20. Tommy is B1G Offensive Player of the Week. Not a big surprise, but well deserved.

Proud of Tommy, he's been playing well. Great to see DL call a game to his strengths, too.

Langsdorf is getting into a great rhythm with Tommy, and that's great to see.

  21. It wouldn't be every 4 would it? You have to play 2 from the other side twice (home and away), so I think it would be 8 years? You could set it up like the NFL, where the teams rotate through the opposite conference divisions. They don't do the home and home thing for 2 straight years, they will play an opposite conference team at home in year 1, and then play that team on the road in year 5. So, you rotate through the entire conference once every 4 years, but only see them at home every 8 years.
  22. It's not a joke. Cryotherapy is an alternative to ice baths or cold packs. It is that cold (below -100 degrees Celsius) and the players are in there for 2-4 minutes. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cryotherapy
