  1. My plan is to grow a beard for a couple weeks, then maybe shave it down to a goatee for a week, then shave it down to a mustache for a week. Of course, that will probably change when I realize how awful I look and end up shaving it all off after a week. If the beard looks ok, and the mustache area looks like early-Metallica then I won't go with the mustache look.
  2. I have been going at it 4 days, and it's awful. I have the worst facial hair ever.
  3. I am pretty sure it's Jim Rose, former Husker play-by-play man. "Ohhhhhh, Adrian Fiala!!!"
  4. And he had Heisman Trophy winner and a long-time NFL QB in Carson Palmer as a senior. Is Tommy Armstrong at that same level? I like TA, but I doubt it.
  5. Might as well have some fun with this craptastic season.
  6. I'm not sure if I like my coach having to "go through" numerous losing seasons and has the "experience" to deal with that. I would rather have a head coach who knows what it's like to have continued success throughout his coaching experience.
  7. I'm not sure how much he would have to be paying at Columbia or Cornell, since I don't think they give full ride scholarships for athletics. However, I would push him to go to one of those Ivy League schools. It would pay off in the long-run. He will get a lot of connections by just being a football player at one of those schools.
  8. I listened to the podcast yesterday. Sam does make great points in allowing a coach to have time to make changes and turn the culture around. However, he and Nyatawa also say in the same podcast that there are serious doubts if Riley and his staff are the guys to be able to turn things around. Riley can turn around the culture and still ensure NU beats teams like BYU, Illinois, Northwestern, and Purdue. I can even understand one or two of those upsets, but to lose all 4 of those games is not acceptable. That is where I am at with Riley and the staff. The in-game decisions and many other ways that they coach the team make it very hard for me to have confidence in Riley. I don't want to just sit here and accept the fact that we are stuck with Riley for another 1-3 years in order to "give him time". It makes me annoyed and frustrated. We have been stuck in mediocrity for years, but this year is down right awful. I'm afraid that is where NU is headed under Riley.
  9. Sorry if I mistook the intention of the OP. It looked like he is reaching out for a potential scholarship offer to NU. If that happens, great for the kid. If NU likes him as a walk-on candidate, that's good for NU, and good for the kid, but I understand how expensive a college education is right now.
  10. ..... I think you missed the recent break down of our players who started at Purdue. I think we started 6 former walk-ons? Most didn't even have a ranking out of high school. Looks like that's good enough to play here. Kid has a lot of talent, no one is blowing smoke anywhere. I'm not sure what your point is. NU shouldn't be starting 6 former walk-ons. That means the program has completely whiffed on recruiting and development. If you think recruiting a team full of 2-stars is "good enough" at Nebraska, then get ready for continued mediocrity.
  11. I don't want to be a jerk, but if NU actually recruited and got a commitment from a kid like this, people would be saying "why are we recruiting this kid?" He looks like a decent player, but he is probably more suited for McNeese State or UL-Lafayette or another area school in Louisiana. Here are the kid's Rivals and Scout profiles: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Trevor-Begue-167316 http://www.scout.com/player/193938-trevor-begue/recruiting?year=2015&s=73 The kid has no rating on Rivals and a 2-star on Scout. I know star ratings aren't everything, but they are a tool to analyze prospective recruits. HUDL videos are nice, but they are also a players "highlights". They aren't done to make the kid look bad. I am sure the grandfather is proud of his grandson, and he should be. But, I don't think it's fair to blow smoke up his butt and say "Nebraska should be recruiting him".
  12. Banker's not going anywhere, NU fans. Riley trusts him "all the way".

Maybe Riley trusts him if Banker was staying the weekend with Riley's wife. #nohankypanky

It means Banker like to wrap up before penetrating.

  13. I would put that in the tough question catagory. I think it is fair but I also think we know the answer(s) Agreed, but I still want a reporter to sack up and ask it! I agree that the question needs to be asked, but it should be done after the season is complete.
  14. I'm not a fan of what Stewart is doing with the secondary, but to say he's a bad coach because he isn't on the sidelines is ridiculous. There are always coaches "in the sky" in the coach's box. This is done to give the coaches another point of view, besides on the sidelines. That's probably where Stewart is during the game.
  15. This is Mark Stoops' first job as a head coach. He's not the Stoops brother who was at Arizona. That was Mike.
  16. 4 INT's and a bad snap he should fallen on instead of trying to pick it up with 1 hand? Yes, he played ok, but his mistakes didn't help things.
  17. Do Nebraska fans actually think that the team was loaded with only "small town guys with heart"? Yes, there were plenty of guys that fit that description, but there were a lot more super talented dudes that played with an edge. The mythology of NU history is just amazing. This fan does. I listened to it on the radio every Saturday with Bremser and watched it if it was televised. Read about it in the papers every Sunday beginning in the 70's. Not all were home grown but many of them were, strikingly similar to Gangwish, Fyfe and others. Then it sounds like you have a very selective memory.
  18. We actually had really good recruiting classes under TO. Wistrom, Frazier, LP, Peters brothers, Terrell Farley, Mike Brown, Ralph Brown, Mike Rucker, etc were all very highly rated guys. This!!!! And TO was bringing in great talent during the 70s and 80s, too.

  20. What about the buddy who sits in the corner and can never say anything to a girl, until one girl gets drunk enough to actually make out with that buddy and that buddy has to marry that girl?
  21. Yeah, Gangwish is a Husker through and through. He is one player when healthy, can be a wrecking machine. We've seen glimpses of that. I'm hoping he gets in the backfield a couple times on Connor Cook. You guys must be watching different games than I am. I don't see Gangwish doing much out there.
  22. Regardless who was starting at QB for NU, the Purdue team that took us to the woodshed yesterday is AWFUL. Do people realize how bad that "performance" by NU was?
  23. I would trade it in a second. I just want to see winning football.
  24. Riley didn't want to count Tommy as part of the travel roster, and didn't ask the Big Ten for a waiver to bring him along as an injured player.
  25. im still skeptical of his abilities but i never doubted him as a person. And True. Hopefully if this program ever does get back to doing special things, Jack would be the first invited back to help celebrate it Guys like this is what made Nebraska a powerhouse football program. Riley needs to keep finding more of them and get them on the field. A unit is only as strong as it's weakest link. No!!! Riley or whomever the coach is needs to find the biggest, baddest, and most talented group of players that he can find. I don't want the team to depend on a bunch of "plucky" walk-ons who are great examples to a lot of kids across the state of Nebraska.
