  1. My question would be why are Riley's teams consistently more penalized than others? Yes, this is Riley's first team at Nebraska, but Riley has had penalty issues throughout his career at Oregon State. To me, that's why this is a concern.
  2. Let me explain since it was my post that caused confusion. And, I admit my attitude towards this is confusing. (even in my own mind) When I say it's "weird". I'm saying that I find it weird that he doesn't want to be in Iowa instead hanging out with his future friends, teammates, coaches...etc and experiencing their fan base in a season that is starting off better than any of theirs have started off in a very very very long time. I would think that atmosphere would awesome for a HS player that....well....ultimately wants to play there. On the flip side, if the coaching staff still wants him, I don't blame them for allowing him to come visit and enjoy the magnificent, sites, sounds and excitement around Husker football. You never know when maybe that might put some doubt into his head on his decision. Just playing devil's advocate, but Iowa played an 11:00 AM game on Saturday, while NU played at 2:30. Fant had a game on Friday night and probably didn't want to wake up early and make a 3 hour drive to Iowa to go to their game at 11 AM. So, he went to film study at South, then he (and probably family or friends) drove down to Lincoln to make it for the Wisconsin game. To me, it's not really a big deal either way.
  3. I don't get why people are complaining about having Fant come to Lincoln for a visit (official or unofficial). Recruiting isn't done until signing day. So what if Fant has committed to Iowa. It's the coaches of Nebraska to try to get him to change that commitment and come to NU. I guarantee other coaches are trying to get NU's commits to flip to their school. It happens everywhere.
  4. I disagree that it's a cultural thing within the program. The penalties under Bo were not as high as they are under Riley. Under Riley, the penalties have increased. You can't blame that on the "culture".
  5. That game was amazing. The Blackshirts just wouldn't allow NU to lose. I know the offense sucked that year, but it is so fun to watch a dominating defense to not let opposing offenses do anything.
  6. The issues with your What if's are that NU probably wins the game if it manages things better, especially for the BYU & Illinois games. The offense just needed to gain one first down against Wisconsin and couldn't get it done, and then the defense gave them no resistance allowing Wisconsin to drive in FG position at the end of the game.
  7. Janovich will probably make a NFL roster because he is a beast in special teams. The last few guys on the roster have to be able to play special teams, which Jano excels at. Most teams still keep a fullback on the roster, even if they are only used 1 or 2 times a game.
  8. Yep, he gave a boatload of cash to NU. He's one of the last guys who's support to the team I would question.
  9. Do you know Lawrence personally? Or are you just calling him a punk because he had a troubled youth and his run-ins with the law. I am not condoning the assault on Kate McKewen or him going after some kids at a park. However, there are many reasons why Lawrence turned out to be the person he is today. A lot of that has to do with the situation he lived in as a child. I had a small class (25-30 students) at UNL with Lawrence as a freshman in the spring 1995. To me, he seemed like a typical college guy. He was actually pretty quiet and shy. I wouldn't say I "know him" but for a semester in that class, he wasn't a "punk" to me or the entire class. I don't think it's fair to make broad statements about a guy if you don't know him or ever interacted with him.
  10. Miami is on a bye week, so that would make sense.
  11. well we could always be like Georgia Tech and sign with russell. That is if you can deal with jerseys that aren't nice enough for a high school team.Under Armour did a very smart thing a few years ago by starting to supply uniforms to high school teams. That got the teenage kids to like their product and brand and enabled a lot of their past growth. Now UA has $ to throw at Notre Dame and Texas is going to be the next big fish they go after.
  12. Wisconsin's contract ends on June 30, 2016, Nebraska's Adidas contract runs through June 30, 2017. That is why Wisconsin is switching before us.
  13. Nike is the main company behind Jordan. Michigan agreed with Nike, and then they thought it would be cool if it was Brand Jordan rather than the Swoosh.
  14. Many of you think I'm super negative and bitchy, but I was still rocking my Husker polo at work today. I will always be a fan and a proud alumni. GBR!!!
  15. I wonder how much $ NU makes from their own "Huskers Authentic" store. IIRC, NU closed the store in the parking garage by Memorial Stadium, since they have the store by PBA. If NU does switch to Nike in 2017, and allows the Nike Town store to sell Husker merchandise, would that create a lot of competition in their own "Huskers Authentic" store? I guess more merchandise sold is the main thing, and NU could still sell non-Nike Husker gear in the Huskers Authentic store, along with Nike Husker gear. I'm just kinda rambling on here. I think it's too early to say that NU moving to Nike is a slam-dunk at this point.
  16. Suh building at Nike Town store in old Nebraska Bookstore site. Does this signal a move to Nike for UNL athletics?

  17. Interesting development with Suh turning the former Nebraska Bookstore property into a Nike Town store. I wonder if that signals if Nebraska will look to switch to Nike when the Adidas contract ends.
  18. Kate Howard ‏@kateOWH 19m19 minutes agoLincoln, NE Agreement with @NdamukongSuh will be for a Nike Town store on Q St in @UNLincoln property, developer buying space for $1.25 million.
  19. Yeah, I thought of that after I posted it. Might be an old photo. That's the excuse I like going with too. I always like to think about my posts after I post them too. I mean "I like to excuse of saying that's an old picture" when people ask if I am that fat.
  20. Yeah, I thought of that after I posted it. Might be an old photo. That's the excuse I like going with too.
  21. Do you know when that picture is from? It could just be a stock photo from fall camp that the OWH has.
  22. Yeah, I understand that you were looking at it from a fan point of view. Nothing wrong with that. Not trying to chastise you there. Yes, it would be great if Maliek came back next year and was awesome for the Huskers, but I wouldn't be upset with him if he went to the NFL.
  23. I hope Maliek does what's best for him, which would probably mean going pro.
  24. I don't like gin. What's your poison, then? I'm sure we can accommodate you with a rhyme.... I'm a beer man. Thanks for asking!!! Here goes: Root for Nebraska Even in a down year. Root for Nebraska With a case of strong beer. Thanks!!! I will always root for Nebraska. Some years requires a lot of beer to drown the sorrows.
