  1. I 100% believe I am better than the opportunity I'm getting - I'm also 99% confident there isn't a better opportunity out there...so changing my situation is best done in my current position, through things like hard work. Curry will likely learn something similar when this is all done. The difference between he and I is my 450k mortgage and princess wife are dependent on my situation, he's not dependent on anything yet. Nice humblebrag.
  2. Why is that a negative? Most offenses have a base set of plays, that they vary depending on the formations and tendencies of the other team. I would rather have the offense rep a lower number of plays and be able to execute all of those plays near perfectly. Then the OC can add wrinkles or slight changes to those base plays.
  3. Lol Kutcher Kutcher is the highest paid actor on TV right now. He should be able to afford a contribution to ALS research.
  4. On the flip side, since we've joined the Big Ten, these BTN guys have been wrong at near-Ed Cunningham levels. It's like they puff up teams in the conference or something. At least the BTN does it to the teams that are actually in the conference they cover. What is ESPN's excuse with the SEC? Oh yeah, now ESPN has a financial incentive for the SEC to "do well".
  5. I actually wish Beck would incorporate more of the vertical passing game. Against UCLA this past year, they figured NU wasn't going to test them deep, they had all their defense play within 10 yards of the LOS, and they shut our offense down. As far as the actual topic of this thread, McKewon and Christopherson both thought Armstrong had a good day today. But, since they are members of the Nebraska media, we can't trust them.
  6. That's what I don't get about Curry's transfer. If he is mad about getting beat out by Collins and Valentine, but he was still going see significant playing time behind those 2.
  7. I find it funny that Curry wants to transfer to be "closer to home", but is considering K-State. That extra 2 hours closer to Dallas is going to be huge. Yes, I understand that being in the Big 12 would enable him to play more games in/near Texas, but this is most likely due to being 2nd string now.
  8. I took the Ice Bucket challenge and now just donated $20 to ALS research. I know I wouldn't have donated anything prior to this ice bucket challenge going out the past few weeks.
  9. Keep in mind that the transfer rules are ridiculously complicated. That's why NU and OU compliance departments are both involved and need some time to make sure everything is correct with Curry's transfer. And a player can partition the NCAA for a waiver on just about any of the transfer rules (not sure of the success rate of these waivers). So while I think ColoradoHusk has the main ideas in his post, that's not the only way for these things to happen. Agreed, Red. I was putting my general knowledge of the subject out there for some clarification. There are always complexities with transfers, and they vary by situation. Some players will be given the release of their scholarship and the former school will allow them to transfer anywhere. Some players will be given only "partial" release of their scholarship, and their transfer opportunities are limited.
  10. I haven't looked through what Kenny Bell said, and I don't know the entire extent of his financial situation. However, looking through this thread, I am not a big fan of what is being posted in here. Yes, everyone has the right to share their opinions, but here is what is bothering me with these comments. 1. I wonder if those who aren't a fan of KB anymore, will you guys honestly not cheer or be excited when he scores a TD this season? Are you gonna sit on your hands and not be happy at all? 2. For those who are saying KB is "embarrassing the University", how many of you actually attended and graduated UNL? 3. How many of us did stupid things while we were in college? I know I did. There were weeks when I would win some money gambling on football games, spend that money on something I "wanted", and then might have had trouble a few weeks later to pay certain bills. 4. I also get annoyed when people say "Kenny doesn't even need a scholarship, because his parents are rich." That is the lamest argument ever. Maybe Kenny Bell's parents told him "you better get a college scholarship, because we aren't paying for your college education". Maybe Kenny Bell's dad doesn't have much money left from his NFL days. It's like those who complain about Barney Cotton's kids getting scholarships for the football team, because he should be able to pay for their education. 5. If Kenny gets asked a question, he isn't supposed to answer it? Going to college provides an opportunity to people to get to know themselves and express themselves? College football players aren't supposed to have opinions because they have an "easier life" than I did at that age?
  11. Why do you love that? It's a figure of speech. It's a weird one since it's pretty common sense that too little and too much of one thing are both equally bad. Yeah, but who says what is the "magic" number? I was just commenting that people just like to bitch about things, no matter what they are. Position depth can change in the blink of an eye. A position that has "too many" scholarship players can go to a "thin" position with an injury or transfer. If the interweb message boards were alive in 1994, I am sure the people would have been freaking out when Osborne was "stupid to not have enough scholarship QB's" when little walk-on Matt Turman had to start against Kansas State after Frazier and Berringer were injured.
  12. Gotcha. I figured once you started fall camp you were done. What's the cut-off date. Is it when you officially start a class? The timing of transferring to another school is basically the start of classes. The football player will want to leave their former school before classes start, so he can start his "transfer" clock of sitting out one academic year. UNL starts classes for Fall 2014 next Monday, August 25th. That player will also want to transfer to his new school before their academic year starts, so he can take part in their fall practices. For schools that use semesters (like NU) that Fall semester will begin this week or next week. Some schools will use "quarters" for their academic year, and their Fall quarter won't start until mid-to-late September. I remember when Richie Incognito was kicked off NU late in Fall Camp, his transfer options were limited because school had started for most colleges. He decided to transfer to Oregon, since their Fall Quarter started in late September. Of course, Richie didn't last long when he got to Eugene.
  13. I am not saying anything bad about, Rex and I am sure he will be great at whatever he ends up doing. I just get tired of the posts that are always "Player X was great at NU, it would be great if he was able to come back as coach."
  14. Why do you love that? It's a figure of speech.
  15. I think it's ideal to have 1 QB on scholly for each year of eligibility. Traditionally, Bo has recruited 1 QB per class, then went to 2 QBs last year when Darlington had concussion issues.
  16. When Rex graduated he said he planned on going back to the Dallas area to teach or go into coaching. Yeah plans can change and he could get hired by any company in Nebraska, but those were his plans after football.
  17. I love it when people complain when there aren't enough scholarship QBs on the roster (like when TMart was a junior and Kellogg was his backup) and now there are comments/complaints about having too many QBs on the roster.
  18. Rex was on the 53 man roster, but only put on the game roster for a few weeks in 2013.
  19. I can see the Bengals putting him on the PUP list for 6 weeks and then seeing how healthy he is after that. Then he could be put on IR if he's not healthy. I think he would get paid his full salary if he was on IR for the year, which wouldn't be a terrible deal.
  20. Although the whole ice bucket challenge is a funny trend, it does raise awareness and get people talking about ALS. While people may be get out of donating money to ALS research by doing the ice bucket, as long as people are thinking and talking about the disease, it's an effective campaign.
  21. It's important to stretch after exercising.

  22. The University will never tear out the bleachers. Putting in seats will reduce the capacity way too much, and cost the athletic program too much money. Also, the school gets big $ from the club seating area which includes actual seats.
  23. FYI, in 1993 student tickets cost $7 per game with 8 home games for $56. I remember the prices went up for 1994 because of the near-miss of the national title, but I don't remember the exact numbers. In 1993, there were only 7 home games, so the average rate was $8 per game. Season tickets for students now cost $189, also for 7 home games. That is an average of $27 per game. That is about a 6.3% inflation rate per year. Yes, that is pretty high, but it seems in line with the average cost of a college education the past 20 years.
