  1. how much did Lincoln/Omaha grow from 1994-present? Lancaster County: 223k - 297k Douglas Count: - 431k - 531k So, in 1994 we had 72,700 seats (actually reduced capacity by 1k that year for handicap seating). This year we have 87,000. 14,300 more seats or 19.6% increase from 1994. During that period the two immediate counties grew by 174,000 people, or about 26.6%. What percentage of the population growth has the means or wants to have the means to buy expensive season tickets as opposed to watching it on HDTV with a better view of the action? Also, in the late 80s and early 90s, NU might have a couple games on TV a year. I remember listening to most games on the radio, even in the early 90s. Now, with every game on TV, there is less incentive to go to the games in person.
  2. I bet that Henry Griffitts driver is very similar to today's 3 woods in terms of loft and club head size. Although, the big thing with club manufacturers today is to make their 3-woods provide more distance.
  3. See, I don't see you as one who "doesn't get tickets". You still make it to a few games a season, even if you don't have tickets of your own.
  4. That's a good idea to split the season tickets among 2 other families, but is it hard to figure out which games you all get the tickets for? My brothers and I are going to face an issue with my mom's season tickets. She is getting up there in age, and her health isn't great (yeah, she's your basic blue-hair that everyone complains about). I am not sure how much longer she can realistically make it to most games each season, but we will want to keep her tickets. As long as she's alive, she doesn't have to pay a donation and she has fairly good seats (East Balcony -- old one, not the new one). I think we could keep buying the tickets and figure out ways to split the games up between us. She also gets a tailgate spot in Lot 7, and that's not cheap.
  5. Living in Colorado with 2 kids under the age of 10, it's not feasible for me to get back to Nebraska games on a regular basis. I generally try to get to one game a season, whether it be a home game or a road game (where I can meet high school and college friends). But, even that is hard with current money situations. I am not "poor", but having just bought a house the past year, my money is "tighter". If I lived in Nebraska, I would think I would get to more games each season, or at least down to Lincoln to party with Teach. But, again, with kids and their activities, that could be hard to do on a regular basis. My wife is very understanding of my Husker fan-ship, herself being from Hastings. She's not into the games as much as I am, but she understands that our Saturdays are planned around 1) our kids activities and 2) the Husker game. Once I get older, with the kids out of the house, and more disposable income, I could see myself coming back for a game once a month or so. But, that also may be a pipe dream. HA!!!
  6. Which specific posters are you referring to? Can you tell us their usernames so we can let them know that they are being hypocrites please? Most of them aren't on this board. They are on this other board I used to frequent. That board was full of guys that had never been to a Husker game in their life, but they were these "huge fans". A lot of the guys on that board had super boners for Callahan, and have been very critical of Bo, Osborne, and now Eichorst (for not firing Bo).
  7. I really enjoy checking Husker message boards to see the posters complain about the sellout streak being in jeopardy. It's especially funny when the same posters have never been to a game at Memorial Stadium, and don't plan on doing so any time soon.
  8. From that picture from the Michigan State game, the student section looked pretty full to me. As I commented earlier, most of those empty rows at the top are due to students crowding in lower rows.
  9. I just grubbed on a tasty prime rib french dip sandwich from my work cafeteria. Horseradish sauce is good stuff.

Horseradish sauce is ridiculously easy to make. 1/2 cup sour cream, 2-3 TBSP horseradish, a splash of olive oil & a pinch of white pepper.

I just go to Arby's and ask for a buttload of Horsey Sauce

Look out fella's we got ourselves and internet chef here!

  10. There is really not any room to do this. Well, add it to the list of stadium expansions that need to be done (according to fans). They can do it while they are putting the upper deck on the North end zone and making the field clear, so you can put fans underneath the field and watch the game.
  11. I am sure there are plenty of students that don't show up for the 11 AM kickoffs and may be too drunk or interested in partying to go into the stadium for the night games. I honestly can't blame them too much for that. But, I also think the students get a bad rap when they show a number of rows at the top of the stadium that are completely empty. I can guarantee you that the student section is jam packed in the lower rows. When the lower rows have more students than allotted seats, it's going to create "empty rows" at the top of the stadium. That was one issue when TO moved the students behind the normal seating. The seats were so high up, that the students were forced to pack in super tight in the lower rows.
  12. LOL...My bad. Especially since I live west of GI. My comment was meant as the view point of someone from Lincoln or Omaha. Anyone who lives west of Lincoln is a Western Nebraska Hick!!!
  13. They will be giving away tickets to the FAU game before the game. If you would rather have tickets in hand, I think the University is selling tickets that were sent back from the FAU allotment.
  14. I could be crazy, but that might be a good week for ESPN to go to a less traditional campus. They have made trips to the academies, FCS schools, and other "smaller" schools in recent years. If there isn't a compelling matchup for them to attend, they could end up going that route.
  15. Can we blame the S&C coach for this injury too?
  16. Here is my view of the "simpler" offense. With a veteran QB in Martinez, Beck thought the offense could handle being more complex and more "multiple". When TMart got hurt last year, we saw the offense bog down and the backup QBs struggles with the complexity. I think Beck and Bo went back to the drawing board and said, "let's make sure we can run our best plays the best that we can" and we will go with that. There is no use having a play that you might use 1 or 2 times in a season. It takes away reps from your most successful plays.
  17. If the coaches hadn't said anything about a faster practice tempo, we would have even known. People are making something out of nothing. Injuries happen. Some happen in fall camp. Some happen during the season. Did people get all pissed off at Osborne when Doug DuBose tore his knee in fall camp nearly 30 years ago?
  18. Well, for those wanting Nathan Gerry to start, you guys are getting your wish.
  19. Canes fan, typically most seats in the visitor's section are sold by the visiting University within their allotment. If you are looking for tickets from Nebraska sources (ticket brokers, StubHub, etc.) you will probably not be in the "visitor's section".
  20. TeacherCD coaches junior high school football. You can ask him directly, but he likes to play very conservative on defense. He had some "dad coaches" come in last year and they blitzed every down with no safety help. They either stopped them at the line of scrimmage or let up a 50 yard run. Teach was pretty pissed.
  21. Who's saying Cooper is in any danger of losing his spot? There are a lot of posts in this thread saying they want Gerry and Alexander to start. That would mean that Cooper would be losing his spot. I don't think Cooper is in danger of losing his starting job. The coaches think highly of him, as a leader of the defense.
  22. Sipple commented that Ron Brown was working with the Punt Returners yesterday.
  23. From what I have heard, he's the #1 option at the Peso back.
  24. Would they have green jerseys for a non-contact practice? Just wondering.
  25. I am very optimistic about the secondary. Lots of young talent to mix in with the veterans.
