  1. Am I the only one who LOVED LP??? I am not condoning what he did off the field, but he is hands down my favorite RB of all time at NU, based on what he did on the field.
  2. Big Red Network call of the Westercatch made Bob and Dan's Homer Call of the Week Playoffs. Davison goes nuts.

And Nebraska wins this week and moves on!!!

  3. I wasn't all that impressed with Biggs' play for Nebraska. He could get into the paint, but couldn't finish because of his lack of size. He also tried to do too much 1 on 1, and was a turnover machine. If he wasn't going to be the type of person Miles wants on and off the court, then he doesn't need to be playing for Nebraska. Miles didn't screw up, Biggs did. We need to remember that.
  4. it's not about giving them a pass. And it's not about saying that Wistrom shoulda been that way. But it is about saying that in many instances this is the case. Not all football players are, but a lot are (not most, not a majority-but a lot) are like this. I've been to a couple football player parties too at measly Hastings College............ A lot of these guys are just a different breed. Cuz in many instances, it takes a different breed to do what they do at the level that they want-or need-to do it. I agree that football players tend to have violent tendencies, because the sport itself is so violent. I know that many football players will get into fights and try to use their size to intimidate people. But, is society supposed to excuse this type of behavior? I just don't understand the thoughts of people saying "we need more people who are willing to get in fights off the football field" because that's what the message seems to be in previous posts.
  5. Look, I don't have an issue with guys "having an edge" on the field. But, they need to understand that it needs to "stay on the field". Giving guys a pass on beating someone up after a few drinks just because he's a football player is parthetic. I have no idea what Alex Lewis did during this incident, and I will let the criminal process play out. But, if he beat the crap out of some guy after having a number of drinks, I think it's pretty pathetic. Grant Wistrom played with a certain edge on the field, but I don't remember anything about him being a punk off the field. There is a difference.
  6. My favorite SI cover has Doug DuBose running all over UCLA. Of course, NU lost the next week at Syracuse.
  7. I think we all can relate to something like this.......I know I've had my fair share I've never gotten bombed and beat the crap out of somebody. I am not 6'5" and 300 lbs either, but "fighting while drunk" is not a great excuse.
  8. Moss's trouble is with the University, not the football team.
  9. Sunday night was a culmination of eating crappy foods and drinking too much alcohol this weekend. I am feeling it today, along with multiple trips to the men's room at work.
  10. Lots of Bronco gear being worn to work today. I don't get the concept of adults wearing football jerseys.

I still do it.... but I think I still look young enough that I can get away with it. My rule is as long as there is at least one player in the NFL older than me, it's okay. I'm turning 37 soon, so I might not have much time.

I don't get why people care so much. It's a great way to support both a team and an individual player.

Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers. I am all for wearing team gear. I just think that jerseys look like crap and are overpriced. JMHO.

  11. A neighbor of mine wants to start doing that this Spring. He even said he just wants to "make the beers" and have people drink them. I told him to count me in.
  12. ???? By far the best SNL commercial ever!!! Bonus points for the Phil Hartman on the voiceover!!!
  13. I agree with you, an ice cold PBR is really good.
  14. Going from DC at a service academy to Nebraska is probably a promotion for most football coaches. As mentioned before, the service academies are almost like FCS schools, so Warren going from AFA as DC to DB coach at NU is a solid promotion. It definitely pays more than what he was getting at the AFA.
  15. I was going to make a similar comment on how I think it would be hard to be a RC at a military academy. You not only have to be able to recruit solid football players, but you have to find young men who are interested in a military education and are able to be accepted by the academy. To me, that is a tougher sales job than being at Alabama and saying "hey, come play for the best program in the country".
  16. "I think the Coastal and Atlantic divisions are a great idea!!!"--The guy who came up with the Legends and Leaders divisions
  17. As Shark mentioned it above, Gerry saw PT at LB early in the year against spread offenses. The LB situation was a complete mess early in the year. It wasn't settled until the conference season started and Michael Rose stepped up to be the MLB (although he struggles in the pass game). Santos is a good fit at Buck LB, and Zaire stepped in at WLB (after struggling with injuries the first half of the year). Totally agree and a multitude of posters have eloquently narrated that..................my question pertains to "now"; and why the coaches haven't yet made the move........ I would say that the season just ended 9 days ago, and they haven't started Spring practice yet. Once the coaches had Gerry at LB for this season, they didn't want to confuse him by moving him back to safety mid-season.
  18. Yeah, because Stanford and Wisconsin are the only teams in the country that lose a game or two every year Standout speed teams though? Might want to look at the Stanford/Oregon results the last two seasons. Nowhere near the national title hunt you say? Stanford finished 7th, 7th and 11th the last three years. That is at least "near" the hunt. Wisconsin was two hail marys away from playing for the title in 2011. That's at least a little close. Geez, every pro-Stanford person throws out the Stanford-Oregon games the past 2 seasons. I have never seen a program get so much credit for winning one big game a year. Yes, I know the Pac 12 is tough, but the only reason NU fans look at Stanford and Wisconsin as teams we want to be like, is because NU has been so average the past decade.
  19. I see Wisconsin football a lot like Stanford. NU fans love them because they play "power football" and they have had great success winning conference titles the past few years. Yes, those conference titles are a lot more than NU has been doing recently. But, each year, Stanford and Wisky lose a game or 2 that make you think "what the hell happened?" and they usually lose games against teams with standout speed and they come nowhere near the national title hunt. I see them a lot like NU teams from the late 80s and 90s where NU was winning conference titles on a regular basis, but Osborne would get smoked by Miami, Florida State, or other "speed teams" and NU fans would constantly bitch about those seasons. The only reason these recent Stanford and Wisky seasons look so great to NU fans is because NU has been so freaking average the past 10 years
  20. I don't know about that. I think Gerry has great straight-ahead speed, but I don't know if he has the hips/quickness to play peso. Yes, he has good size/strength, but he may not have the quickness to handle the slot receivers in spread defenses. To me, he seems best suited for safety where he can come up and support the run, and use his speed to play "center field" on pass plays.
  21. There is nothing wrong with Gerry being moved back to Safety to provide competition and depth to Cooper and Alexander. The one thing with following recruiting so closely nowadays is that we are in such a rush to have these young kids come in and play right away.
  23. He will be moved back to safety. He doesn't have the size to fill the holes from the LB spot. I think he would be a natural safety.
  24. That and if the D is as solid as it SHOULD be, there's not excuse to pass the ball more than 20 times in any game. Play solid basic football. Run it, use playaction, and understand that a punt is not the end of the world. With the talent at RB, there is no reason Beck shouldn't use the offensive philosophy that McKewon mentioned earlier this week. Protect the defense with field position, and protect a young QB.
  25. I was very impressed how Ameer came in and took over the RB position when Rex got hurt in 2012. Ameer ripped off some great runs against UCLA that season, that reminded me of Doug Dubose and Keith Jones. Hopefully, Ameer will have a healthy senior year, and will be a mentor/leader for the young bucks behind him.
