  1. Trust me, I know. I doubt they both do though, so this is a nice get.
  2. Huge for depth. Seems worthy of a scholarship.
  3. Mertz has a bright future and looks really good. Now that I got that out of the way, that Wisconsin run game just doesn't have the pop it had last year so far. Their receivers won't scare and elite back 7. Wisconsin's pass rush doesn't look as good as last year. Lastly, Illinois is a bad team. Hope we show up better next week.
  4. I think if either come its has to be a situation where they both come. Question is would Texas fall in line with the Big Ten everyone is equal(on paper model), especially having their own network(Albeit underperforming). I also don't think OU would come without Texas as they've hitched their wagon to them, and they have everything they need by being affiliated with UT. They'd follow Texas to Uzbekistan if they chose that's the place for them.
  5. Considering many of their fans feel QB is a big reason that they haven't, I play along....even though there are a few more areas they need an influx of top end talent in.
  6. No surprise. They are pinning a lot of hope on him....even though their receiver group won't scare a good secondary. I do think he's their best shot a CFP appearance, so again, the clock has started.
  7. Foot injuries can be tricky so I'd lean toward him not being available for their game with us. Yes, Mertz hasn't played much and did have several offers from top programs. While he played very well in San Antonio, he will not have the relative talent at WR at this level of competition he had then. They have very high high hopes for him.
  8. I'd be interested in that as well. He's not getting a lot of opportunities, but at the same time I don't feel he's their best receiver at all.
  9. 653 in '12 and 503 in '13
  10. I feel every team that beat Wisconsin last season either had fewer mistakes on special teams or didn't give anything away at all. I don't feel Illinois game Wisconsin any cheap KORs nor great starting field position. Ohio State generslly did the same the 1st time and had some game altering ST plays in Indy. Oregon gave up a TD but also capitalized on a mistake by WI's punter, but that was after the game had wore on and it was evident Wisconsin was in a fight and wasn't going to bully them. Its imperative Nebraska is at least solid on ST where they aren't giving away chippies to teams such as Iowa and Wisconsin that like to play risk management style football.
  11. In the Wisconsin game, there was a 4th and 3 that would've been a 4th and 1 had Mazour not fumbled the play before, but we couldn't even attempt a 43 yard FG, which could've given us a 3 point lead after giving up a KOR for a TD. Had we not given up a TD immediately following our 1st score, we potentially could've had a 10 point lead on Bucky.
  12. I think we'll see Ty at his best if the staff can find adequate snaps behind Daniels so he can play DE when we are in an odd front.
  13. Very much agree but I hate how that sounds. No disrespect to you.
  14. I do too but I also think the coaches like Riley though. If he can spell Daniels adequately we should be good there.
  15. It was pathetic. Barry, Davis and Miller had an awful game. The DBs got drug got multiple yards once the RB made contact. Yep the OL was bad and was made by Minnesota's front 7 where they have to replace nearly all of it.
  16. Truth of the matter is whether he comes back or not, he wasn't what killed us last season. It was our back 7's inability to properly run fit and tackle.
  17. My guess is they may take 3 if Sevea is a part of the equation, with Buckley and Tobin. My personal reach for the sky is Sevea, Toia and one of Buckley/Tobin.
  18. Interested yes, fascinated nope...because it's their bread and butter(Can put LB there as well). I also think talent evaluators have given Wisconsin kids more respect lately and you're seeing it in their in state talent. I just feel it's less about out working Wisconsin but rather maximizing what we have/get. Yes they've been better at developing players but can you honestly say we got any in notable amounts at any time in the B1G from Pelini or Riley(Frost is still TBD). Any program with strong development program would've outshined Nebraska. We've been one of the most unstable programs in the conference. Where they are now recruiting wise, though I think they still have a ways to go(yes we do too), has been the result of 10-2(Division title) - Undefeated Regular season (Division title) and 10-2(Division title). I'd debate with anyone if Nebraska had success like that, we'd be firmly in the top 15 flirting with the top 10, and we'd have OSUs attention. I can tell you right now, OSU is hardly batting an eye at what they are doing. Nebraska's biggest hurdle has always been Nebraska imho.
  19. Looks like he's getting ready for a pool party on Saturday....somewhere in Dade county FL.
  20. I do too but when you look at Leonhard's defense they are the epitome of keeping everything in front and not allowing the big play. Look at their games against OSU. When the Buckeyes have made their moves against their defense they have been explosive, quick strikes plays.
  21. I really like the work Austin is doing, but it will go unnoticed as his kids aren't high in recruiting rankings, with the exception of a few. People will notice once things come to fruition, but they have to actually do, but I'm confident. You're right we don't need to over power Wisconsin, it's a losing battle if you try, and it's exactly what they want. You build a defense that is stout enough up front with DL that can disrupt their blocking schemes and alter the LOS. With fast LBs and DB to make tackles. Conversely, your offense needs to be efficient with the ability to snap off chunk plays so that the Bagders have keep pace on offense and not shorten the game.
  22. Great get for them. Didn't hurt they are one of the best in developing OL, but even more that he has a brother already on campus so he knew everything he needed to know(PSU would've had NR had they taken his brother). Their class is perfectly situated to deal with COVID, and couldn' t have gone any smoother. They have pre existing relationships with many of their top commits (Or they are in state or close by), where the reliance on visits does not impact them like other places. I'll even say their class likely doesn't look much different if everything was business as usual. On paper this is a massive get, for us it would be massive on paper and in actuality. They routinely take 3 and 4* kids and make them good to great OL in 4-5 years. With Rucci they adding a naturally, immensely talented OL that may only be there 3-4 years instead of 4-5. Nebraska just needs to focus on adding girth up front and speed in the back 7. Just my .01
