  1. IMO It's different in that this offense does a lot of pulling on it's run plays moreso than the WCO. I think they are recruiting quicker interior OL that can block in space and are good power run blockers. We are much more aggressive. Under Callahan he looked for OL with big hands and long arms that could pass protect as the primary function. Yes we did run a little but I think it was all zone blocking. I think they do more than zone blocking now. That's my guess.
  2. I wish they would of had it the 20th or 27th. Weather always seems to be better after the 15th of April.
  3. Thanks for posting the link. I see there's a free webcast for the last 4 games.
  4. Good win Huskers! You've exceeded my expectations for the year.
  5. Jon-tom turning mudge into a polar bear.
  6. I agree that this is our best chance to get the 3rd win. I think it could be our last.
  7. Cool I will pencil that in. Gives us another lefty in the lineup. Can't wait for the season. Could be something like this... 1) Pritchard (L) 2) Rich (L) 3) Kelly ® 4) Chad ® 5) Sheffert ® 6) Darby (L) 7) Kash ® 8) lubach (L) 9) Peters ® Sometimes I wonder if they should spread out the lefties at the top of the lineup. Could do this 1) Rich (L) 2) Peters ® 3) Pritch (L) 4) Chad ® 5) Kelly ® 6) Darby (L) 7) Sheffert ® 8) Kash ® 9) Luback (L)
  8. Could be he is not qualified yet from a grade standpoint. (Either his paperwork is still being processes or he has to meet some criteria yet)
  9. I am glad we signed 5 guys and hope we sign 4 next year. It's very important to get Lineman (both ol and dl) in the program early and develop them. Get them stronger & bigger & quicker. Let them mature. Especially o-line as it takes a bit to learn those spots and it's harder to project them. I think it's much easier to find skill players for making an immediate impact at their respective positions because for the most part speed&quickness is easy to spot and it's easier to evaluate and bring those guys in. I think as far as developing good players. I think you can develop lineman, TE, FB's and LB's the easiest. Probably because it takes longer to mature the bigger guys. I think it's harder to develop the skill positions.
  10. Huge opportunity for him to get lots of PT in 2014. He's raw but has good size and talent. Maybe a future nickel?
  11. So it sounds like Kubat,Hander,Hirsch are the initial weekend starters. Pierce, Bummer, DeLeon are weekday starters and possible candidates to slip into the weekend role if there are any issues or we are in a tourney rotation. Vogt is the closer. I am guessing King, Howell, Chestnut are long relievers. Bublitz, Hawkins and Roeder are setup guys. Niederklein will be in there somewhere depending on his recovery. Everyone else redshirts. Catcher is wide open and they probably platoon. My guess - I am going to guess Stringer ends up the main guy over time. Lubach & Fish alternative in depending upon batting lefty vs righty. Anyone have a better guess or more info? SS is really tough to guess. I think it may end up being Peters because of a mention from Erstad but Placzek got a mention from Chad. I was hoping it was Edrington... Gotta go with the senior all things being close to equal? Peters probably has an edge offensively where he can bat 9th and bunt our leadoff hitter over and be a little tougher out in the last spot since he has being exposed to college pitching for 4 years. (Thats my theory) Peters may not have the range or arm of the other two?. (Have no idea..) but he should be a solid glove. Anyone have a better read or insight to the situation? Everything else is pretty much known.
  12. Can GA's being involved in recruiting at all? Wasn't last year kind of an anomaly because of Barney's shoulder surgery, thus allowing Marrow to be on the road for him with an NCAA exemption due to Barney's injury? True as of last year for sure. Ga's couldnt recruit off campus or make calls unless there were special circumstances approved by the NCAA. I believe there are no restrictions at all for Ga's when the recruit is on-campus. They changed the rules this year to remove the limit of coaches that can recruit off campus. I am assuming that's only applicable to full time paid coaches but I don't know for sure.
  13. +1 Agree. I think electronic he's probably in the 4.6 to 4.65 range (electronic). Just my guess. Where he would test well is in the 10 yard split, vertical. He's got explosion & quickness. He's a very good all around back. He will be a steal. Bet Dallas or Texans are the teams with the most interest. I find that pro teams often draft local or home talent. I actually think that if your not 5th round or better, it's probably better to be a free agent so it's not the end of the world for the non-combine invites.
  14. Hate it. The little red 'N' on a white helmet is well recognized. It's a brand established over a number of years. Don't mess with it.
  15. He would be replacing Marrow so he's a grad assistant. It could very well be that he will coach the TE's like Marrow or at least help coach them. Since he played the position that sounds reasonable. A quality control coach does a little bit of everything. Scout, film work, may assist position coaches in coaching on the field. etc) (I read it on the internet) Whatever he does I imagine it will be on the offensive side of the ball.
  16. I can understand where they put us because it's all about pitching and ours don't blow people away. Having said that if they pitch per the philosophy we should do well. I may be doing him a disservice but I see Kendall Rogers did the review and I don't think he's been all that kind to Nebraska through the years. He's from Texas I believe and was an aggie alum I believe.
  17. I think Santos could end up auditioning at any spot. I think it's wide open. Els has said he is going to ask his LB's to learn all the positions and will take it from there. I am not a huge fan of that approach but we shall see. They have tried similar approach with the OL in the past to get the best athletes on the field. Not sure how well that has worked. I would think it's hard enough to learn one spot for a young player, why make it any harder? Just my opinion. Guess it gets back to Bo's philosophy of understanding the principals vs learning plays.
  18. Agree. I think some of the $ were higher this year because we had 25 to give this year vs last year. That means a bigger pool to sort through and visit. I think the coaches did more group visits with recruits. Local talent pool forces us to fly more. Seemed like we had to do extra visits to keep players verbals solid this year for some reason. Lots of waffling and commits & decommits. Winning & looking good would solve some of these issues.....We beat UCLA and we might of got a few more commits early. We don't suffer through OSU and Wisky blowouts and finish top 10 that helps etc...
  19. We will run if we can rebound. Need dominant rebounders to do that though. I think we will be a mid-scoring type team next year. (70's) Kurkowski will be scout team if we sign some more post players. He will always be on the team unless he chooses not to be..... If pitchford can get good position, I think we will be a much better rebounding team next year. We will be lengthy and Miles will GATA if they dont attack the boards. I'm telling you, this Pitchford kid will amaze you. Him and who I believe might have been a track athlete, maybe basketball, never seen him before though....anyways, they were having an insane dunk contest. Pitchford was trying to see how far above the rim he could get his chin. Yikes! Really good to hear about the hop! Hope he doesn't have a close shave!
  20. Miller Gregory Mixon may play if Ankrah moves inside. Taylor Kondolo Finnin Collins Love has a shot as he is here for spring ball. Singleton Gerry Hart (This list is not saying who the best guys are rather it's the guys that I think are already physically mature and are at positions that are thin. There are guys who may redshirt who I think have really high upside but just need more time to mature. IMHO Taylor, Natter, Suttles Knevel etc...
  21. He's a real good rebounder and athlete. Has good nice skills and a high ceiling. Would love to see him visit.
  22. He's going to be good! I am thinking a Mo Purify type player or another Enunwa...
  23. I thought he performed well in the Internation bowl. Has some big thighs. You know there is some power & speed with that build. Looks like a good all-around player. TV said that when they asked the coaches and players who stood out in practice. They said Newby did and that he was special. Really had a nice kick off return. After that they short kicked it.....
  24. Pretty good rundown. It will be interesting to see where Mixon ends up. Agree on the CB's. CB's have to be next years priority and I think they need to take 4. Take 4 OL and 2-3 Wr's making sure we get the slot spot covered. Then take 1 of everything else. That should put us around 17-18 which is what we should have next year.
