  1. I hope the 'plan' would be to be a full-time at one sport for at least 2 years, master it then go participate in the 2nd sport.
  2. I think we should play B. Thompson or Moore at TE sometimes in this game, get extra good blockers/size on the field, or go unbalanced.
  3. ESPN definitely slants towards SEC because they have a vested interest. SEC is 'best' right now because they have all the talent due to oversigning and other 'things'.
  4. I would say he's a bit like Eric Martin. Could be a RE or MLB
  5. I really don't think there's a national consensus that Nebraska's OL sucks, and we keep sending them to the pros. Yeah, I don't understand all this Cotton hate. We had a Top 15 rushing offense this year, with one running back and a duel-threat QB who was never fully "unleashed". You can't run the ball without a decent O-line. I don't understand it either. I think the OL is making progress and looks to be one of the stronger units on the team in terms of depth & talent as compared to other positions on the team.
  6. +1. Typically when doing 5 wide teams run draw or throw short routes, so I agree with you. I think we will play it pretty straight up and just try and match up to their personnel packages with our packages. Play a lot of zone. No blitzing to speak of. Play assignment football. Controlled pass rush to collapse pocket evenly and guard against run lanes, which we have been lousy at this year. get their hands up to tip balls. Not much twisting. Maybe slant the line sometimes. I think Nebraska needs to run right between the tackles or right at the RE's with their toss sweeps to negate their speed. Don't bounce outside. I don't think the speed option is a good play for this game. I don't want to see Taylor rolling the pocket or scrambling outside the pocket. I want to see him step up in the pocket or rush vertically. Too many times he has scrambled to the outside when the pocket was good. And these RE's will chase him down. I want to see some screens this game!!! Trap those hard rushers. Shuttle pass might be a good play. Would like to see the old wingback reverse. Use one of those freshmen for that. Fullback trap would be unique to them I think. Run inside zone plays.
  7. Long at center? If he has the footwork to do it that would be great! Need to have experience at that spot and that would give us a pretty experienced lineup. And if Klatcho has trouble making checks then maybe slide him to guard Moore, Sirles, Sterup Choi,Thompson,Klatcho Long, Pensick, Reeves, Pelini Arod,Cotton Sirles,Qvale,Moudy
  8. I think weather is definitely a factor for some kids. Some kids from down south and the west coast just don't realize how fun it is to play in snow!!!! My vibes from articles and interviews tell me that this kid will stay on the West Coast. I am not holding my breathe on this one.
  9. I don't think Fuller is fast as some think. He's very quick though and is a playmaker. (I based this suggestion on level of competition and testing scores.) He is a good player that I would like to see as a husker. They don't show too many highlights of him throwing different types of passes so it's hard to guess how he will be in the passing game. I say give him a shot at QB and if he doesn't thrive there he has quick hips and could play WR or DB, whatever the team would need. How ever it ends up the kid is a good football player and will get on the field. I think Armstrong is more complete QB at this time and plays a higher level of competition. I think he has had an opportunity to play with other great players and how to manage that. I think he has the edge.
  10. You know a lot of people laud Hayden Fry's coaching tree, but in a way it's good and bad. Fry & his coaches had good success at Iowa but not great success. I think that's in part because he kept having to replace coaches. Not saying that's the case here but just saying that finding some guys that view Nebraska as a destination job has a lot of merit with me. Hope whoever backfills views Nebraska as a destination job. Maybe I'm just old and out of touch.
  11. Agree that center is the key to next years line. LT - T Moore, Sirles, Sterup LG - Arod or Choi, Thorsen C - Pensick or Reeves or Klachko, Pelini RG - Long, thompson Cotton RT - Sirles, Qvale, Moudy
  12. I think they plan on filling this pretty fast otherwise, they would have petitioned the NCAA to add Jamrog as a temporary fill in. Just a thought.
  13. Another two are Nabity a LB from Elkhorn; and Reilly, a DB from Lincoln SW. We get a few of these guys and we'll end up with a great walk-on class this year. Excellent.
  14. I think we have to run between the tackles and runs traps on their RE's. Could be some big plays on the zone read up the middle.
  15. Love the way this guy plays. Hope he commits to the Huskers.
  16. I think they need to drop the 'sponser' bowl names and go with how the Rose Bowl does it.... Rose Bowl presented by Visio. Sounds better than Meineke Care Care Bowl of Texas. I don't like rematches in college football. I would rather they play new teams. I agree B1G needs to win the SEC matchups. That helps recruiting
  17. Cool didn't know about these. In my warped b1g view I am thinking B1G can win 6 of the 10.
  18. He's got alot to prove to me. His defensive line looked below average at best, and the kickoff and punt coverages were atrocious. I can certainly understand that thought.
  19. Not real fast but put him in the middle and he will give you a good bull rush up the middle and plug up the interior. Would be a good fit in the B1G and Pelini's D. He really does well when he keeps a low pad level and uses his hands. Once he consistently does that he will be really effective. Physical player packs a punch when he hits. Must be naturally strong. Shows some good recognition on screens and pursues down field. Plays to the whistle. I like him.
  20. I think B1G is going to do a little better this year in the bowl games but that's not saying much compared to last year. I think the b12-2-1+1-1+1 is not going to do well in bowl games for some reason.
  21. I wouldn't be surprised if JP got elevated to Co-DC. He'd do all the game planning and be the eye in the sky. Bo would be on the sidelines making calls per JP's input. Then after 3-4 years JP would be a full DC. Sound familiar? If JP were to do that then I think they would shift Special Teams to Els and bring in a Recruiting specialist & Dline coach. Just a guess. I do like the Zook rumors but agree he would want to be a full time leave me the hell alone DC.
  22. I see that we have 2 superstaters in Foster (long snapper) and Foltz (punter) that area considering Nebraska as walk-ons. Would love to see that.
  23. This bites. I want Rios, Seisay, Afalava, Alexander, T. Johnson, Peat, Moore, Goodman, Iese and Beaver to commit and I will feel better
