Greetings From A Hornfan...

Nice board Huskers. Myself and a few of my friends are going to be making the trip from Texas next weekend and I was hoping some of you could help us out.

We're coming in an RV and have a few questions.

1.) What lot do we need to go to for RV tailgating? Is a map available?

2.) How early can we get there to park? We'll be arriving on Friday morning.

3.) Assuming we can't get tickets, where's the best place to watch the game?

4.) Win or lose, we plan to have a few cold ones somewhere after the game (since ABC stuck us with an 11AM kickoff). Where can we go in Lincoln to get some good food, watch the rest of the games that day, and have a good time?

5.) Any laws against open containers? (The only reason I ask is because there were at Ohio State last year. Now I want to make sure we know beforehand)

I'm sure I'll have some more questions in the near future, but any help is extremely appreciated. I'm looking forward to talking some good natured smack over the next week, and am extremely excited to finally be making the trip to Lincoln. I'll save my football talk for another thread though. Your reputation as fans and the tradition of your team promises to make this a great trip.

Thanks in advance for the help and good luck against KSU.

The Alley is still a very nice place to go.

As far as your RV, contact the University, I've never done it. I always thought those passes were sold way early in the year.

There is an open container law when crossing streets. But where there is booster parking on campus and the such, as long as your not getting way out of control, cops don't care. Just be smart, put it in a cup, have trash bags.

Thanks Eric. I just assumed there would be places for RV's to tailgate there. I'll give the school a call.

After some more browsing on the site, it looks like the Alley might be a stop we need to make.... especially if the BlackSkirts are going to be there. There is no shortage of good looking women in Texas, but that's some serious talent you've got up there.

Welcome C-West, you sound like a very level-headed and respectful fan, so we're happy to have you around for some good discussion & friendly fire.

I dont have a lot of time to get into details, so I'll provided general answers now.

1.) What lot do we need to go to for RV tailgating? Is a map available?

Lot 7 -- Heres a map: http://www.huskersnside.com//pdf6/38614.pd...p;DB_OEM_ID=100

Heres some other good info:

http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SP...amp;ATCLID=2657

it addresses your question 5, but like anywhere there are unwritten rules.

more good stuff here: http://www.huskers.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB...&SPSID=3047

2.) How early can we get there to park? We'll be arriving on Friday morning.

I would reco calling the ath office to verify - you may need to reserve a spot. try this # 800-8BIGRED

3.) Assuming we can't get tickets, where's the best place to watch the game?

A place called Sidetracks is a classic spot, definitely hit this place b4 or after the game - you wont get treated better in "enemy territory" anywhere else in the country. Barrys is also a good place to watch the game - wide open, huge projection tvs. And of course 'they alley' is the official board hangout - details coming about our tailgate party which you'll be invited to.

4.) Win or lose, we plan to have a few cold ones somewhere after the game (since ABC stuck us with an 11AM kickoff). Where can we go in Lincoln to get some good food, watch the rest of the games that day, and have a good time?

see above, and others can give you ideas for other places around O St.

5.) Any laws against open containers? (The only reason I ask is because there were at Ohio State last year. Now I want to make sure we know beforehand)

As long as youre not acting like a j-hole, you'll be fine with any beverage as long as you keep it in a discreet looking cup.

Enjoy your trip to Lincoln!

C-West, welcome to the board. What is your take on the game? It will be wild in the stadium, as most Husker fans have been looking forward to the game with the Horns for a while. If the Huskers can hang with Texas early, I think you'll see the crowd being a factor as the game goes on.

What was Huskerfaninokie talking about with Bevo? Did I miss something?

Also, if the comment from Siouxperman about Mussberger went past you, I'll fill you in.Last year after a game he did in Lincoln, he was arrested for an open beer, while in a vehicle after the game.Since there is no love loss between BM and most Huskerfans, most found it very amusing. In fact, I'd have bought the arresting officer a beer, it he'd let me! Mussberger pleaded no contest, and paid the fine. LOL

If you get parked, and want to walk around to a few tailgates, there will be plenty of freindly fans around. Most the tailgateing happens west or north of the stadium.

Hank,

My take on the game is that it can definitely go either way. I plan on starting a thread this week to try to get the Huskers on this board to give me their take on it. At the begining of the season, I chalked tOSU, OU, Nebraska and Tech up as possible losses. We took care of OU, but I still feel like we'll have to bring our A game to the other games on the schedule.

I have to admit that I haven't been able to catch any Nebraska games this year besides the USC one. I checked out your stats against Iowa State since they're our only common opponent, and they're pretty close to ours both offensively and defensively. Then again, stats can be misleading.

Without getting into much detail, our Defense is very good. Our backfield has given up some big plays this year, and that's been one concern, but they look to be improving.

On offense, we're still questionable. Don't let the stats fool you. This Texas offense isn't anything like we were with Vince. Colt has been efficient and has played as well as we could have asked him to so far this season, but we've really only played against two decent defenses, and I'm still not even sold on OU's defense being "decent".

Our two runningbacks are both studs and our O-Line might be the strength of the team. I guess after I hear more about your Huskers over the next week, I might be able to formulate a better opinion.

If you asked me right now though, I wouldn't touch this game with a ten foot pole on my sportsbook account. I'm just looking forward to talking some good football, drinking beer and seeing what the "Husker Tradition" is all about.

Classy fan. I hope you have a hell of a time, and i hope you are able to track down some good seats. This could be a great game, if we step up and keep our offense on the field. Unfortunately, because our stadium isn't surrounded by parking lots it can be hard to find a big gathering to park your RV in and get rowdy before the game. I hope you find what you are looking for, and keep coming back to voice your opinions.

GBR.

Jarred,

I'd really like to make the game. Are ticket's going to be next to impossible to scalp at this game? I'm wondering on whether I should try to find them beforehand or if I'd have luck there.

HuskerHank,

Bevo XIII died Monday of heart failure. He was 22 years old. Here's a link on ESPN

C-West,

Good assessment of your team. I watched you guys play against Ohio St and you guys looked pretty decent. Not as well as what would have been expected last year of course. Your RB's are studs. Very impressive and very big. McCoy-it's really to early IMO to tell how good he is. He seems to have jumped in with both feet and has played way better than I would have expected. He's definitely going to be a big playmaker for UT in years to come.
