landonhusker
Got this off of the red sea scrolls. A student talking to Dillard was told by Dillard that it is looking like next year will be as follows Will - Octo Mike - Dillard Sam - McKeon Dont shoot the messenger just relaying It would be great though get ruud out get more speed and better tackling our LB would be 100% improved Quote Link to comment
TrueHuskerFan
That looks like a great line up, but I wouldn't rule out Ruud just yet. Just look at how they stuck with Shanle all year, I think this staff may like experience better than pure talent, whether that's right or wrong, I don't know. And come on, 100% improved? I don't think so. Quote Link to comment
landonhusker
yeah 100% Bradley was the most overrated player on D IMO Mckeon would fill his role much better Dillard is stronger faster and brings way more wood to the Mike than Mckeon Ruud is one of the softest LB in the country, when healthy you know what OCTO can do .................... see Texas game Quote Link to comment
TrueHuskerFan
Yeah I love Octavian. We just have to hope he stays healthy all year. Quote Link to comment
huskerguy
Why does EVERYONE hate on Ruud... He isnt the faster or strongest, but hes the smartest... he also had quite a few strips this year that really changed games. Ruud made so many more "big" plays than any of our LBs this year. Ruud will start with McKeon then Brandenburg, Octavien, or Dillard Quote Link to comment
Atrain15
Hopefully the coaches will get this one right and get the most talent on the field. london husker if Dillard is right, we'll have a fast and aggressive LB crew next year. hopefully it is, Ruud doesnt have the speed like octavian. Anyways, looks like we'll be fine at the Linebacker position next year. Quote Link to comment
MCAT800
Ruud is here because of family traditions, look at other LB's in the Big 12, he doesn't match up at any level. D Quote Link to comment
landonhusker
halleluia thank you someone that can see the forest for the trees Quote Link to comment
HANC
Okay guys.... I was the first to be critical of the fact that Ruud was awarded Big 12 post season honors, but fact is, league coaches must see things that us as FANS don't....I know that doesn't seem possible , but anyone who thinks that Ruud doesn't have a "leg up" on the rest of the LB's is kidding themselves.. Now, I love ALL of these guys, and it will be a great "problem" to have, BUT 1. Dillard has shown "ZERO"...over-matched as a freshman, and showed a little in what small amount he got to play.....again, vs a much lesser opponent, not even close to Big 12 talent or USC 2. Octavian has potential to be an absolute stud.... but remember "The nation's number one wasted resource is potential"...... When and can this guys stay healthy.... I have my doubts 3. Brandenberg can be a stud !!!!! 4. McKeon had a better year as a sophomore than this year, and in a few games, totally got his butt kicked 5. Ruud is soft, and a little slow....but has made more big plays than any of these guys combined !!!!!! All I want you to remember is that all of these guys will compete, but don't automatically discount Ruud. Quote Link to comment
gamecocks
I don't see McKeon moving to strong side. I think it would benefit the defense more if Rudd and Dillard were both moved to strong side and let them battle for the starting spot. Dillard seems more suited for the strong side IMO. And Octo seems more suited for the weak side, thus the move of Rudd over to strong. Rudd may not be the best hitter but he is probally the best coverage linebacker that we have. Quote Link to comment
Always a husker
I just cant see us having a ruud on the team not starting. I love the guy, he may not be the best but he is a true husker and isnt that much of a drpoff from the other LB's. I think he will start because he is a senior and has A LOT more experience. landonhusker
You make my point and you may be right. I have opinions but never say i am right. Just because he is a true husker does not mean he should play. not if you come from my view where winning is more important than playing legacies Quote Link to comment
jarile
i think he brings good expierence to the table. he may not be the strongest or fastest but he is smart. jus look at zac taylor. he doesnt have a strong arm or isnt fast, but he is smart Quote Link to comment
KansasHusker
All I know is that Ruud has done nothing to deserve this endless dissing to his name by the fans of his own team. It's not like he's a screw up on the field or something...now Shanle, he's one that could be picked on... Quote Link to comment
