Did anyone watch Jim Rome today talking about the game Sat.

 

Showed a clip of Calli saying that this was just another game. NO WAY this is just another game.

 

Please Calli, show some emotion and get your team ready to run through a brick wall for you. We need a fired up team and some opened up offense. BTW I havent noticed any trick plays this season. Fake field goals ect. I wonder if he is saving these things for SC?

I expect Calli to prove he's a man on saturday and nothing less! I don't care what he tells the media, because it doesn't matter. Coach this game to win it! That's what the team will respond to, that's what the team will respect. We need to go right after them, and that doesn't mean running straight up the gut into an eight man front. It means take chances, stretch the field, go over the top of the defense, make them defend sideline to sideline, and coach like you want and expect to win.

story lines are hard to come by sometimes, but you'd think that this game would have enough of them. i guess since usc has been annointed the champs for this and every year until pete carrol dies, the storyline is "will david beat goliath?" it's the only storyline. and david isn't getting a shot.

 

...this being the only story line, and it getting made irrelevant because of 90% of forecasters picking against the huskers. is it really david vs. goliath when supposedly "one side has tanks and the other has scooters"? gotta look elsewhere for a line, apparently. oh, there's a difference culturally?

 

GUESS WHAT? the culture is different between southern california and northern california. it's irrelevant. it's stupid.

 

the only thing that's important are the teams on the field. the media can hound this all day. and as much as you'd like it to be, unless we pull the upset, the game highlights are gonna be the third or fourth story.

 

this game is so polarizing. i hope we tear them apart. but i can't get over the hype. it gets to me. but, please learn to see through it.

Just b/c Cally is not showing much emotion on interviews does not mean he will get his players fired up. I am pretty sure he will get them ready on Saturday and the players will also do their part to get themselves fired up.

He got the "porn vs. corn" line during his radio show today just before Grant Wistrom's appearance. A caller from Omaha had a really good rip on SoCal fans. I forget exactly what he said, but one of his last lines was something to the effect of "how can fans from Bakersfield rip on Omaha when the biggest industry out there behind meth labs are the porn studios?" Rome loved that call and picked up on it.

 

Whoever that caller from Omaha was, it was a great call.

I have talked to people around me and they have all come to the conclusion that Nebraska's "It's just like any other game" attitude they're giving off is so it doesn't give out any sound bites that will be played over and over where Nebraska has to eat crow let alone add more hype for USC.

Was it back in 1987 when Oklahoma came to Nebraska and they had #1 and #2 rankings? Keith Jones or somebody at Nebraska said, "They aren't going to steal the keys to our house". Oklahoma mopped the floor with us.

I could see the Cornhuskers in closed quarters intensely getting ready for USC, and eating raw meat. It's a great idea to keep a poker face when interviewed by the media. I guess this means that Nebraska will be doing their talking on the field.

 

What's the deal with the "Porn vs Corn" mentality?

All though I guess Mark May likes to "blow his wad" when he talks about USC.

Wish I could find a transcript. Nate's email had some great lines in it..including "Crops vs. Botox" ..."$500/month LEASE on a BMW you spend 3hrs/day in barely moving parking lots" ..or something like that.
