Husker fans are the worst???

I know some Husker fans haven't been on their best behavior lately, but I sure wouldn't call us the worst fans in college football.

If some of the things claimed here ARE happening, it's no wonder why the fans and players of other programs hate us.

 

Someone going to the Nebraska sideline, and yelling profanities at Bowman, Purify, etc.? If I ever saw that I would likely be in jail for the night...that person would not walk away unscathed.

 

I do see some merit in criticism of SOME of our players...I really do...however, of all people...Purify and Bowman? Those are two of the few that I actually believe are giving 100%. Can you imagine what the other players might be hearing?

 

Request to Nebraska fans: If you EVER see any fan getting in the face of players or coaches (yes, even the coaches...I mean, this is REAL life here)...please step in. Stop it.

 

I know that it won't happen under my watch.

I feel sorry for the sicko's that were doing it...it may have been more than just losing a game...they may have been losing to their bookie too which leads to frustration.

 

That's why I never bet on a Nebraska game. Too close to the heart and it clouds good judgement.

 

So thanks knuckleheads for giving the good fans a black eye.

Of the games I have gone to this year and due to the bad seats I get I end up standing on the sidelines, I haven't seen anything close to that. What I do see is players hanging their heads, nobody talking, oh and a very silent crowd. Not that it doesn't happen, but it may be that they have more of an ability to read minds. But if most think like myself than they would say, do you guys try to lose, other than you suck. Isn't it funny if someone wouldv'e said those things to.. say Jason Peter, he may of kicked the fans a@#, instead of crying to the paper.

This guy is a hypocrite. All his anger toward the fans amounts to him taking it out on the players. He is certainly better than the fans making verbal insults to the players, but he is no better than the fans leaving early. Perhaps he's even worst. At least most of the fans leaving early will come back. So shame on him for hurting the players.

All teams have bad fans. It was said last night on Sports Nightly how out of the 85,000 or so fans at the game, probably less than 500 of them were yelling at the players. Also, it rubs me the wrong way for Purify of all players to say a friggin word when he had one dumb a$$ attack after another in the offseason. In some programs, he would have been kicked completely off the team. What really concerns me is the fact that instead of using this as motivation they are whining about it. When we play away games, these players get heckled and booed and whatever by the opposing team's fans. If they're this thin skinned, they've got a lot to learn about life!

I think of all the idiodic threads on this board, this one might be the dumbest. This is exactly like wife who is beat by her husband blaming herself. Only dumber. How in the living f#*k do you expect to control the drunken emotion of 85,000+ people in a single stadium when their worthless team is getting their asses kicked and is powerless to stop it thanks to an even less-coordinated coaching staff?

EVERY SPORTING EVENT HAS HECKLERS! One or two people coming up and saying some bullsh#t like that to the players is by no means indicitive of the character of our fan base. And I for one am so sick to death of simple-minded jokers like DaveH using a select few idiots on the sidelines as an excuse to tarnish our reputation. How may other colleges applaud an average team that whips our team in our own house? No answer? How many other message boards do you suppose routinely get posts from random Aggie fans expressing how much they enjoyed their time in Lincoln? How many other teams chant "Heisman" for an opposing superstar?

 

Enough is enough. Our situation has as much to do with our fanbase as terrorism does with President Bush. That is to say, none. Our PROBLEM is a useless coaching staff not preparing, training, or developing talented but uninspired players who go out on the field and bear their deficiencies for all the world to see. It's frustrating, yes, and some fans take things too far (and like the booze has nothing to do with that, either), but all in all I feel that we've not demeaned ourselves one iota by expressing our intolerance for this ridiculous charade of a football season.

First off the guy that wrote that is an idiot!! I have more choice words for him but we will leave it at him being an idiot.. For the content of this post, give me a break, some of these players are getting a full ride to school to play football for a great school.. No one needs to be whinning about the fans the fans are paying hard earned money to watch these babys play half a$$, and yes most are playing half a$$ imo... Players need to shut your mouths an play football dont worry what people say. if you play your heart out no fan or anyone else will talk crap to you.. I am sooo sick of the players complaining... I have family that goes to every Husker home game and most of the aways. They said at the OSU game it was bad, lots of booing, Pedey had to have a police escort, and lots of name calling for the people that were still there. A&M though was alot better, they said still a little booing but the cheering drowned out the booers, which I thought was great and they thought was great. They said there were people yelling things but security took care of it.

Don't worry about what people say about you? When you were 21 years old, how would you have felt if an entire STATE was telling you that you sucked (whether it was in person, on message boards, or on sports talk shows)?

 

If this were a professional football team, I would agree with you...shut up and do your job and let the fans say what they're going to say. But give me a break. These are kids who are playing football, getting an education, and not getting paid for it. Yeah, they get a full ride scholarship, but that doesn't mean that they have to be perfect! If you think that these players are just "coasting" and taking it easy then you have never been around a collegete athlete for any amount of time. It is not a glamourous lifestyle, especially when people who don't know what they're talking about are criticizing them every day.

 

Do people who don't work with you tell you daily at your job that you're terrible, working half-@$$ed, and should leave? I didn't think so...

 

You wanna blame the coaching staff? Fine. They are paid millions of dollars to coach these players, make them better, and produce results. These guys obviously aren't doing that. But don't blame the infantry when its the General who's really the problem...
