Dan_F_30
All times ET 6:20 p.m., from Peter Gammons • The Tigers have won the Miguel Cabrera sweepstakes. Detroit will get Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis for six players -- Cameron Maybin, Andrew Miller, catcher Mike Rabelo and three minor league prospects. They gave up a lot for him and Willis. I'm not too happy about this trade cuz it brings them into the AL Central where my Twins have to deal with them now....But with the young studs the Twins have it could be a competitive year! HSKRNOKC
That is two very good players. To give up six players seems like giving up the farm system to win now. Hope it works out. Quote Link to comment
huskerfan500
This puts the Marlins payroll under 8 million, that is what A-rod makes every four days Quote Link to comment
NUpolo8
In related news the Dodgers are paying Andruw Jones 30+ to hit 220 in a pitcher's park. Good times. Quote Link to comment
admo
That's HUGE for the Tigers. Although changing leagues doesnt always go smoothly for players, i.e., learning new pitchers, hitters, strike zone, etc. NUpolo, are you saying the Dodgers got Andruw Jones? For 30 mil? That's crazy. He's a bit overrated IMO. Quote Link to comment

NUpolo8
Of course they overpaid. Ned Colletti falls over and dies for guys like that. That would be over 60 million Dodger bucks to to horrid CF"s in Juan Pierre and Jones. I guess all the propetcs we have get dealt for bad pitchers now. Fun. Quote Link to comment
HSKRNOKC
Andruw Jones deal is one very expensive risk IMO. In his prime , ya . But in his twilight. NO WAY IMO. Quote Link to comment

He is beginning to get old, has declining numbers, and will now play in a ballpark that is notoriously hard to hit for power in. Makes ZERO sense even without mentioning that there is already a CF on the roster making too much money, and have two bona fide outfield prospects that don't make 18 mil a year. Quote Link to comment

BIGREDIOWAN
Big gets for the Tigers. Going back to the A-Rod thing as a Yankee fan he better pan out because he is making a huge amount of money and considering he sucks come October he better get out of that slump. Quote Link to comment
