Prosecutors asked for less, but a judge Monday set Andy Christensen’s bond at half a million dollars.

Charges have not been filed yet against the senior Nebraska offensive lineman, who is set to return to court Tuesday afternoon.

But Coach Bo Pelini suspended Christensen from the team indefinitely this weekend, after Lincoln police arrested him on suspicion of sexual assault and resisting arrest at a downtown bar early Saturday.

According to court records, a 23-year-old University of Nebraska–Lincoln student alleges Christensen came up to her at the Brass Rail, 1436 O St. She turned away from him and he reached up under her skirt and assaulted her.

When she turned back toward him in reaction, she says he pulled his hand away and went to another part of the bar.

Police were called to the bar at 12:32 a.m. on the alleged assault and arrested Christensen outside the Brass Rail.

They say he “aggressively resisted” efforts to handcuff him and put him in a police Tahoe, allegedly kicking at officers and the vehicle and leaving a dent in the SUV.

At the jail, Christensen had to be put in a security chair to control his “agitated behavior.”

He was quiet Monday, escorted into a Lancaster County Courtroom in blue jail clothes, with chains around his ankles.

This is why the dude is getting what he deserves.

I know some people will say he deserves a second chance. To me, you are a grown man, getting a pass on someones else dime and you basically flip the bird to all of that.

Call me an a-hole, but Andy deserves to spend some time in jail. Hopefully he will get the help he obviously needs so when he does get out, it never happens again.

i agree, no one should get a second chance after that. ive been quite drunk but i still know not to sexually assault someone. it doesnt matter how it affects the team, a man should never assault a woman in any way and i say kick him off the team permanently.

Not calling you an a-hole by the way, simply agreeing with what you said regarding Andy. He blew it.

Must be more to the story. You don't get bail set at a half mil for grabbing some girls butt

I'd like to know where people are thinking he just touched a girls butt.

It isn't hard to figure out what he did to garner a possible felony against him when they said he "reached up the girls skirt."

They don't just charge you half a million bucks to get out of jail if you just grope someone, they are talking about charging him with 1st degree sexual assault, so he must have been inside her. There is totally no excuse for that, and he deserves what ever they bring down on him.

If he plays his cards right and gets a good lawyer, they may agree to plea to a lesser charge, but I will guarentee that he will be seeing some jail time over this one, especially after damaging the police vehicle and resisting arrest.

If it was 1st degree, he is real lucky to get bail at all...and probably did because of who he is, and having never been in trouble before? I have no sympathy for him at this point, though I know he isn't convicted yet. I have 3 daughters, and I would not want anyone to do something like this to them, and if they did, I am not so sure I wouldn't end up locked up if he got out, because I would probably do a little prairie justice. :nutz
