SkullandBones
I agree with the Mark May sentiments. Can't stand to listen to that guy. Quote Link to comment
Guy Chamberlin
ESPN always extolled the virtues of Nebraska when we were on top. And just like every college football powerhouse, it becomes a story when the program falters. These guys like college football, it's their job to report it, and Nebraska has been treated with as much respect - if not more - than other college programs. Also, the ESPN staff picked two Nebraska teams ('95 and '71) in their all-time Top Five, merely switching the order and dropping one team a single notch from the viewer rankings. Herbstreit thinking 2001 Miami could have beaten the '71 Huskers is a pretty sane argument from anyone in the other 49 states. Husker fans tend to be pretty savvy football fans, but bleating about East Coast Bias is idiotic. And what's not to like about Tim Tebow? If you like college football, there's no reason not to like this NC matchup. btw....here in California some folks honestly believe USC doesn't get its props from the press. Quote Link to comment
CheeseHusker
It isn't half as bad as the fetishism they had for Michael Vick back when he was in college. I even remember a hilarious website somebody had made up called VSPN. ESPN finds one player every year that they put on a ridiculously high pedestal. Usually the best quarterback in the SEC. funhusker
Huskers might get more respect than a lot of people might think it deserves. ABC/ESPN televised the VT, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Colarado games. Not counting the Big 12 Championshiop, does anyone know how many games Oklahama, Texas, TT were on ABC/ESPN? Quote Link to comment

I would have to agree with them. After they laid an egg against Oregon State, they became an after thought in the hunt for the NC even though Florida laid an egg at home against Ole Miss. Even before the SEC title game, the analysts man-love for Florida was running rampant. Few to none even though Bama stood a chance. IMO, Bama will overtake Florida as the new media darling within the next couple of seasons. Next year though probably belongs to Texass. Quote Link to comment

Who on earth did they have upcoming that would they wouldn't destroy or that might make a difference in the BCS? Oregon? C'mon. Notre Dame? Laughable. Florida still had to run through the SEC toward a predicted matchup with Alabama and had significant implications within the BCS. Once USC lost to Oregon St, pretty much everyone realized they weren't going to be the 1-loss team to make the national championship given their awful schedule. Quote Link to comment
junior4949
The Pac 10 isn't as stout as the SEC, but lets compare the teams USC and Florida lost to. Ole Miss is 8-4. Oregon State is 8-4. Ole Miss is ranked 20th in the AP. Oregon State is ranked 24th in the AP. The teams they lost to are very similar. However, the biggest differenc is USC lost on the road while Florida got beat in their own back yard. It's not like USC didn't beat anyone. They destroyed Ohio State. They beat Oregon who is ranked 17th in the BCS 44-10. Unfortunately, we will never know how they could stack up against OU, Florida, Alabama, Texas, etc. Considering their stout defense, I think they could hang with any of them. It's kind of funny how the SEC gets all the kudos for being this great conference when they have just 4 teams ranked while the Big 12 has 3 in the top 10 alone. Quote Link to comment

Im not defending the Pac 10 but, I do think USC kinda got shafted on the NC game this year. They have far & away the best defense in the country. It is an east coast bias. period. People are getting sick of USC winning all the time. & w/the same record as Florida, its a pretty easy decision for the "powers that be" The only thing us teams not on the east coast can do is beat all the teams on the east coast. We'll start w Clemson Im not sure I really care about what espn says about us. Its fine w me not getting talked about. That way I dont have to hear Lou Holtz talk about The Univerthity of Nebrathka Quote Link to comment
BigRedMan
If you go to ESPN Recruit tracker(teams) and pick Nebraska. At the top of the screen it has our record, and it has our stadium listed as Autzen Stadium. Autzen Stadium? isnt that where oregon plays? Quote Link to comment

What do they do, throw dark beers at the opponent? Quote Link to comment
