ssfranny
This is directly related to football revenue. Top 10 schools in football revenue for 2008 1. Texas $87.6 million 2. Ohio State $68.1 million 3. Florida $66.15 million 4. Georgia $65.2 million 5. Alabama $64.6 million 6. LSU $61.9 million 7. Penn State $61.7 million 8. Auburn $58.6 million 9. South Carolina $57.1 million 10. Notre Dame $56.9 million Nebraska is #2 in the Big 12 at $55.2 million. Oklahoma is at $42.6 million. Texas is so far ahead of everyone else it is ridiculous. Yes, the salaries are insane but unlike the NFL they are not handing out multi-million dollar contracts to players so this is where the arms race lies in college football. Until people stop buying tickets, they will price them as high as they can. It sucks but fans don't seem to be speaking with their pocketbooks so this is the result. I wonder how much of that salary increase is going to the refs for getting him in the BCS Championship. That utterly ridiculous for a college coach to make that kind of $$$ Quote Link to comment
T_O_Bull
Considering how valuable the Huskers are to the City of Lincoln, perhaps the Chamber of Commerce and the business community of Lincoln should kick in some bucks. You all should remember every dollar that is spent on a Husker Football weekend or for that matter when ever a Husker athletic event draws fans to Lincoln, turns over several times and means profits, salaries and jobs for lots and lots of people. CENTEXHUSKER
Wonder if Mack gets the raise if the second doesn't go back on the clock? Quote Link to comment
Twodocs
You really think Bo is all about the money? He strikes me as the type that likes to finish the job. ND would pay him big bucks he is Catholic and could take all the defense coaches and leave TO with the Big 12 and the Offensive coaches. How would you like to do a coaching search in this marketplace?.....just sayin Bo is better than Mack or Stoops or Weiss or the head coaches at LSU or Alabama and he is paid like Colorado just saying he should look around for a 5 million dollar pay package while he is hot. Before he gets fired for no offense and doing a Mangino! just sain we have a comp problem and a oc problem.... Quote Link to comment
Igetbored216
Awesome that he got a raise after one of the dumbest decisions I have ever seen. I guess he lucked out and his dumb decision got covered up by the "Texas Screwjob" Quote Link to comment
NoKoolAidForME
The next time someone tells me that cheaters never prosper I'm gonna pop em right in the mouth. Very nice On a side note: When Mack Brown started at Texas football revenues was $21.3 million in 1997. This last year football revenues was $87.5 million. They have increased revenue every year and on track to do it again this year. UT Athletics has completed more than $250 million in construction and renovation projects to Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium and other football facilities. Stadium seating capacity has increased from 75,512 in 1997 to the current 96,119. They have had 3 games this season over 100K in attendance. Money raised by football goes to pay for all of UT's 20 intercollegiate men's and women's sports and support programs. This is pretty interesting considering Texas has two athletic departments. After paying for UT Athletics the department has also contributed more than $6.6 million back to The University. Lastly, Defensive Coordinator Will Muschamp has signed his agreement from last year officially making him football's head coach designate. Quote Link to comment

drmathprog
I wonder if the UT administration will feel the same about Brown if they suffer a 2005 Oklahoma Orange Bowl or a 2007 Ohio State BCS Championship Game loss. Quote Link to comment
