Prince Amukamara is the top-rated Senior

Nebraska corner Prince Amukamara is the top-rated senior heading into the season, a worthy successor to Suh.

According to this article, Prince, Paul and Crick could all go in the 1st round. (actually Crick isn't mentioned but should've been) Not too shabby since they weren't 5 star recruits when they agreed to come here. Says a lot about the coaching staff and trainers at NU. I was thinking Crick and Prince as 1st rounders but Paul is getting some serious publicity right now too. I thought he would be more of a 2nd or 3rd rounder since he has PR and KR potential too. With the defense and offense playing well all year, this will only bolster their draft status. Love to see Crick stay another year, but as a 1st round pick, it is hard to pass up the opportunity. Maybe the chance to win a national championship will make him want to stay or the chance to play one year in the Big 10 will be something he will always be able to look back on.

This topic is getting, well...off topic fast. And this post isn't going to help. But I saw an interesting article (I don't remember where  ) about the best receivers in this class. It compared the stats of Julio Jones, A.J. Green, and Niles Paul. They all had very similar total yards, Green had the most at 808. But Niles averaged 19.9 ypc, and Green and Jones had 15.2 and 13.9 respectively. Considering the styles of offenses (and how run heavy we got in the second half of the season), this certainly makes Niles look like an elite receiver on paper. However, I think he's gotten a bad wrap from 1.) Husker fans, because some bone-headed mistakes, and from 2.)The media, public, and outsiders, because he hasn't put up 1000+ yards, and plays in the Big12 where receivers need big numbers to get noticed I suppose.

Paul beat Prince like a drum in the Spring Game. As we all know, the Spring Game is a direct correlation to the regular season, so either Prince will be terrible or he'll be good and Niles will light up the scoreboard like the loosest slots in Vegas.

Think about it. ;)

Doesn't Vegas have us around third right now for title odds? :koolaid2:

But I thought the only player we had on defense was Suh and because he is gone our defense will now be reminiscant of 2007. Also I am concerned that our offense that was young and injured all last year will not improve at all, in fact it will take a step back. Meanwhile everyone else's O's will improve due to one more year together. :sarcasm

Niles was tied at 14th NATIONALLY, and ESPN's Urbnut had him where in his BIG 12 top 25?

Eh. Ubben also had some Texas CB (I think . . .) rated as better than Amukamara.

Edit:

Yeah. He had Aaron Williams #7 with the following said: "2009 numbers: Intercepted three passes. Made 34 tackles, including two sacks and 4.5 for tackles for loss." (Also said to not worry about his pedestrian numbers.)link

He had Amukamara #13 with the following: "2009 numbers: Tied for fourth in the Big 12 in interceptions (5). Ranked fourth in the Big 12 in passes defended (16). Also made 64 tackles. link

It looks eerily similar to the "ignore the statistics guys . . . McCoy is a better DT than Suh" argument.
