which uniforms came first?

Who copied who? Or did we just both kinda come up w with uniforms that look the same. I guess I'm asking how do our uniforms look so similar? Is it because Alvarez used the husker model, did Adidas do this, or God forbid did we somehow copy Wisconsin's uniforms along time ago?

 

If any fan/historians could provide an answer and maybe even picture comparisons that'd b awesome!

2nd.

 

Oklahoma has the same style. Its very basic, but classic. Both modern teams are just going with a similar classic look. nobody "copied" anyone else.

 

That said. We've won more trophies and more games- so its OURS!

 

 

EDIT: actually this thread made me curious when we adopted the striped pants and the striped (on the side) sleeves.

Pants-- as far as I can tell go back to '66. You can see it a little in this picture.

Although I must admit, I have often wondered why our uniforms styles are so similar. It's really going to suck when those games come up as far as differentiating between fans.

haha this post reminds me of my Senior year. We got different uniforms except we couldn't afford the helmets, so the OWH voted our uniforms the ugliest int he state. We had some pretty rugged socks though, too.

 

On a side note, it will be a little overly red when we play Wisconsin. Although, It reminds me of a time after I graduated my HS played the other HS, the colors and the fight song were the same- very entertaining.

One time I was helping coach 9th grade and both teams showed up wearing white jerseys.

 

The two head coaches were joking with each other about it. I walked up and said, "Um, excuse me, but if each of you thought you were visitors, who hired the officials?" **** Awkward silence **** followed by panicked phoning.
