Martinez is not faster than Crouch in a 100M race. Martinez has the ability to go from 0-60 faster than Crouch, but overall top speed goes to Eric. Martinez has quick feet, great burst, great balance, and 4.5 speed. Crouch ran a 10.4 100M dash in High School and at the NFL combine ran a 4.47 40yd. and 1.55 10yd. Both are tough runners, but people forget Crouch trucking that Iowa safety on the way to the endzone. Taylor is quicker and has better feet, Crouch is faster and is a stronger runner to this point.

I don't see how you can truly judge Martinez's speed when all we have seen is Martinez run against our own vanilla spring game defense and a severely outmanned WKU defense.

On the other hand, we've got four years of video on Crouch.

Perhaps we should temper our observations for a little while.

You are really off, Crouch ran a 4.4 and Taylor is just as fast if not faster Not saying that he is a better runner then crouch but there is no way that Taylor runs a 4.5,scott frost was a good runner too and ran a 4.5 and Taylor is way faster looking.

Speed isn't the best indicator of a player's potential anyway. It really doesn't matter if Crouch or Martinez is faster, what matters is their elusiveness compared to the defenses we face.

Comparing a RFreshman to a seasoned four-year QB - who won the Heisman no less - is a wasted exercise. There's nothing to go on right now that would help us make a decision.

Martinez is 6'1" and Frost was 6'3". Short guys usually look faster than taller ones, at least in my observations.

That said, everybody should temper their expectations in comparison to Crouch. We have seen two performances for Martinez: in a spring game against a vanilla practice defense and against a severely outmanned WKU squad. What exactly are we supposed to gain from this?

On the other hand, we have four years of footage on Crouch and his playmaking ability against all kinds of competition. Let's hold off on this for awhile.

The height observation is spot on. Look at Terrelle Pryor at Ohio St. That dude is 6'5" and blows by people with his deceptively long strides. I guarantee is he is just as fast as Martinez

Lord also looked that way too. He just glided past people. While I still think Crouch looks faster at the QB position than Martinez so far, I also think Martinez will be a far more dangerous passing threat.

i know one thing, Taylor is slippery. Even when he was 'tackled,' on that long run on the sideline, he never hit the ground. I think thats what amazed me more than his speed. Guys just slid off of him throughout the game.

Crouch 40-time

Martinez Scout Profile

At the Scout Combine as a junior in high school Taylor ran an electronic timed 4.5 40yd dash. His Rivals/Scout profile also lists a 4.47, which was an unofficial handheld time his senior year in high school. You sir are really off....

"Football speed" is not clocked sprinter speed. That's two totally different animals.

Crouch had a truly amazing initial 10 yard burst. So does Tmart. But quicker than Crouch? Maybe not but if so he's easily the 2nd quickest NU player I've ever seen. Another part is vision. That's why Crouch could find a seam and exlode through it like greased lightning where an average rb would get stuffed. Tmart has that too.

Then there is agility. Crouch was great but appears Tmart is starting a new standard.

Oh boy, we're gonna have fun!

ohh wow 4.47 is so far off from 4.5 *sarcasm*He is probally faster then that electronic time now anyways,he has been in the system for over a year now also we dont know how many times he was tested for the 40.

T-Magic runs a 3.99 in the 40. I know because I held the stopwatch myself. Dude is like Ussain Bolt fast, and slippery as an eel. He's a combination of Dan Marino, Barry Sanders and Lawrence Taylor, only a better passer, more elusive runner and more intense.

T-Magic once saved a boat full of drowning orphan puppies by walking on the water to get to the boat, only he changed the water to wine first because the water reminded him too much of sweat, and T-Magic never sweats.

T-Magic doesn't run to the end zone, he quantum shifts there, and he does it faster than the speed of light. Bo told him to slow down because if he gets there any faster he'll be there before the ball is snapped, and we'll get a penalty for having 12 men on the field.
