Judoka
Its getting kind of old that everyone continues to rip this kid! Move on! yes he had a bad game but at the end of the day he is a HUSKER. If you you feel the need to keep bashing this guy find another team because he is a HUSKER! With all of the things that went wrong its sad that people spend their time treating this guy like garbage. Im a huge bo supporter but we have to be honest mack brown had the better prepared coaching staff and team. We had too many mental errors and costly mistakes but to continually single this guy out is trash! Everyone loves to brag that we have the best fans, i think its time to act like it and stop kicking this guy while he is down. Why did we get rid of the 'Minus' button again? 1 Quote Link to comment
TXHSKR
If players see the comments made by posters on this board, I hope they take anything negative as a challenge to improve. A loss always brings out negatives on the Board, however we still have positives and still are hopeful to move on supporting every player and Coach on the Team. I think lessons are learned by players, coaches, and even fans each week and we encourage the members of the Board to keep up their support. GBR! Quote Link to comment
HuskerfaninOkieland
you would be surprised how many husker players do look at the forum.. cuz they care what the fans think.. for what you know i may be a husker player And I could be Coach Bob Stoops incensed with Husker Football, hating his life in Norman. What does that have to do with the price of tea in China? Quote Link to comment
ADS
I guess you guys didn't see the Missouri game last year. He gets a pass as far as i'm concerned can we please talk about okie lite now? jeebus Missouri and Arizona are two bright spots in 2 years, consistency is important. Quote Link to comment
knapplc
Does that have nothing to do with us fans? I'm a taxpayer and a booster and an ex-student of UNL. I've gone to more than fifty games and I have bought entirely too much Husker merchandise over the years. A lot of my money goes into that football program – far more than I can afford, really. Doesn't that kind of support grant me some rights to feedback for the coaches and players? I think it does. The whole of Husker Football is a symbiotic relationship. Without the team there are no fans. Without the fans there are no Huskers. Without each other, we're nothing. I think we most definitely have a say in the program, even if that say is from way, way, WAY off the sidelines. disagree.. so your saying cuz you a buy a husker shirt.. you have the right to talk about the players personal life? i guess we have different morals, but thats fine.. i can't sway you and change you.. definitely and interesting outlook Actually, I do want to respond to this directly. In no way have I advocated talking about a players personal life, at least the part of it that does not directly involve the team. Fair game for a player is anything that directly involves his play on the field, or his representation of the jersey he wears. If a player gets a DUI, that is most definitely fair game – they represent the team in everything they do. Their behavior at 2am on the streets of Lincoln makes national news when lines are crossed, and it is entirely unrealistic to expect that they won't take flak for that here or at the coffee shop or at the water cooler. What is not fair game is his familial relationships, his personal relationships, his religious beliefs (if he intends them to remain private), etc. We do not need to know what brand of boxers a player wears, nor should we care. We do not need to know whether he likes blonds or brunettes, guys or girls. Such things are irrelevant, and I would (and have) shut down such conversations if they were brought to my attention. But if a player gets involved in a dispute with his girlfriend and it makes the paper, it's fair game here, too. Even then there are lines not to cross. Recently a former player was convicted of a crime and sentenced to life in prison. His situation was discussed here and he was thrown some grief for his actions – justifiable grief, and the same kind of grief we would toss at a private citizen (and have, if you look at threads in the Shed). To insinuate that I (or anyone else here) have crossed the line with a player and feel justified doing so because I bought a t-shirt is a gross oversimplification of the situation, and completely misrepresents what I've been saying. Your straw man does not represent my morals. Quote Link to comment
TheCheshireCat
It's not the loss alone that upsets us. We didn't get beat, we beat ourselves. There is nothing worse than watching sloppy, uninspired play. That's a big difference between giving your best and coming up short. Quote Link to comment

knapplc
Why did we get rid of the 'Minus' button again? It was abused. Besides, there's no reason to -1 the guy when you can make mincemeat of his post with a solidly-worded retort. Exercise your writing skills and show him the error of his ways - and do it nicely. That's the art of the message board, which you/we do pretty well around here. Quote Link to comment

Magic Man
Hey guys new to the board but here are my thoughts on niles....he does not have great hands obviously and he thinks he is much better than he actually is...nothing against the guy but he is frusturating he is best on the reverse or so open that he doesnt have to fight for the ball...Last comment on niles here is im sorry but he is no longer a playmaker returning kicks he doesnt have the quick lateral movement the elite returners have straightline speed he can run with the best but its faded i hope he comes up huge the rest of this season we need him MAGIC MAN Quote Link to comment
UGAHusker
I think this argument goes both ways and players, although they don't deserve personal threats, need to take the bad with the good. Think about how the majority of D-1 players get gushed over during the entire recruiting process, get hyped, chased after, get paid visits to schools, escorts, parties, etc. 2000 of us are on Huskerboard waiting for Owa to sign and talking him up like he is the Messiah. Well, he didn't sign wih us, but I guarantee he will be criticized his entire career at UCLA. Had he just gone D 2, D 3 or not played college football, he wouldn't ever have to worry about the criticism, but he and all of the others who do, did choose to play at the highest level, thus opening themselves up for criticism. The point is, things go both ways. When these guys play great, or are great prospects, they are treated like kings....when they don't perform, they are criticized. I know that they're all young men, but if that's your argument for why we should take it easy on them, then an argument needs to be made that they are too young and immature to handle the opposite extreme of the practices of the current football recruiting processes. If you want them to be treated like kids, treat them like kids, in ALL phases of college football. Quote Link to comment
knapplc
I also refuse to believe that the grief we give players here is even 10% of the amount of grief Bo gives them. If they can handle Bo in the meeting rooms, at halftime and in practice after a game like this, they ought to be able to handle some hand-wringing by guys on a message board. Quote Link to comment

He's called "the period." This is what's so frustrating about Niles - you're wrong that he's not a playmaker. He most certainly is. He can put the ball in the end zone every single play - or he can fumble it for a defensive touchdown. It's about a coin flip which we'll get on any given play, which is why you have to keep the guy out there. I love Niles Paul to death. But sometimes... I think he's going to be the death of me. Magic Man
At this point in THIS season he has not shown the ability to be a playmaker whatsoever. I know he is and was such as late last year returning almost every kick with some excitement or his performance in the bowl but his inconsistency makes me cringe seeing the ball near him. Yes he can be exciting but yes he makes me wanna break my TV or the guys face next to me at games...patience is a virtue so ill wait for him Quote Link to comment
