BIGREDFAN_in_OMAHA
I was just caught a little off guard by this: has anyone heard that Coach Ron Brown might retire? That announcement could come when the coaching changes are announced. Link to comment
papersun87
I've heard the rumor and later heard it wasn't true. Link to comment
308_Husker
Hope it's not true. One of my favorite coaches on the staff. 1 Link to comment

bsbch
I read on another board that it was due to his 2 neck surgeries. Hope that's not the case. He's a good coach and a good role model. Link to comment
bhamHusker
I wouldn't see his departure as a terribly big deal. He's a good position coach, but I could do without all the other (jesusy) baggage. As a tight ends coach, he wouldn't be difficult to replace. 1 Link to comment

zoogs
And you guys thought I was kidding when I said Tim Beck would be the only coach we have left after this is all over. No but seriously, this would stink. I'll add that I don't really see it happening though. Link to comment

You might do without it, but I guarantee that that "Jesusy baggage" is a HUGE selling point to many recruits and their families. Aaron Green I remember mentioned that his faith was a huge part in his decision and he knew he'd grow in that respect by coming to Nebraska. And how about all those Southern boys and their families? If you don't think that's an advantage in getting some of those kids here you're out of your mind. 1 Link to comment

lilred
I understand that Ron Brown has been on the staff for a long time but I don't see him as very hard to replace. He is definitely a good recruiter for religious kids, but for every one of them there are a few for whom his message is a turn off. I know I would definitely be turned off by it. 1 Link to comment
HSKRNOKC
That would be a tough one.. He has great relationships with players.. 2 Link to comment
