Shout out to the GOOD Iowa fans

Recommended Posts

I was at a professional workshop last Friday and our speaker was from Michigan. She was commenting on things Michigan and Nebraska had in common. I called out, 'We're both in the B1G now! She wasn't a football person so that just went right over her head BUT! There were a group of women from Iowa behind me and they said, 'We're really glad you're in our conference now. It's going to be fun!'

I think that Iowa will be our new 'Missouri'. We'll beat them alot and they may beat us once in a great while but we'll always look forward to playing each other. I think Wisconsin will be our new 'Oklahoma' because of the 'Nebraska connection' (Barry Alverez-Wisconsin AD)

Anyway, not all Iowa fans are bad. Many of them are really looking forward to playing us and having us be part of the B1G.

I hope they are the "new Missouri". I hate Mizzou with a passion, I have not met a "nice" Mizzou fan in my travels. they all hate Nebraska now because they now have a decent 9-4 team every year and have legitmate shot at beating Nebraska every couple of years. Last year when Martinez got hurt an old guy sitting next to me found something to cheer about. Seriously this guy stood up and starting yelling, then said how about that MFers. This is right up Iowa fans alley. Im sure the hatred will surface on 'black friday'

Is it a felony to behead an actual hawkeye and then "cook" the bird.

On the MIzzou front, what happened with the Gabbert brothers, weren't they both looking to go to Nebraska? Are any of you wondering what could have been if you had a passer like Gabbert? Especially with last years Nebraska team? Or did you guys get a better QB recruit at the time?

Wait, since when did we ever look forward to playing Mizzou? Never cared for them and never actually cared if we played them. I hope Iowa isn't like our old step brother.

Also I know I might hurt my rep here, but my entire mom's side of the family are Hawkeye fans and they are all, for the most part, great fans. When I last went to Iowa I got nothing but positive comments from Hawkeye fans. In fact many said they didn't even consider Nebraska the new rival. Now granted, this is east Iowa and some of the people I talked to were just casual fans, but I don’t see the horrid fans some of you see. Now I have like two or three of my family members who have a small Nebraska bias, but nothing major. I think the nasty Hawkeye-Husker rivalry will be more of a east Nebraska vs. west iowa thing.

Character before anything else, imo, and in Bo's as well. They didn't commit to Nebraska, they committed to Shawn Watson and Bill Callahan (in the case of the elder brother), and we aren't interested in kids that aren't interested in being here. Blaine Gabbert could have been incredible at Nebraska, redshirting his freshman year behind Keller and Ganz (what an idiot move by Pinkel to waste a year of his prize quarterback's eligibility), but we're glad we didn't have him, because we have other quarterbacks that are willing to do anything to play for our university.

Coulda been part of the deal why he went to Missouri. If Bubba stays at UNL he also won't be redshirted.

Is Ladyhawke a Husker fan or a Hawkeye fan? I always assumed that she is a Hawkeye fan because of her username.

EEEEEEEEEEEEE! WRONG! But thank you for playing! I'm as Husker Red as you are. ;) 'ladyhawke' comes from the movie of the same name Ladyhawke. I went to college with kids from Iowa. We called them 'Hogeyes' instead of Hawkeyes. I thought it was cool that there were a few (and maybe those girls were the only ones-who knows!) folks from Iowa that are glad we're coming to the B1G.
