Blackshirtsguru
Whiskey is going to SMASH US next week! That and the fact that Martinez CANNOT pass. All Wisconsin has to do is shut down our run and force Taylor to pass. Our defense...well I have no idea what is going on there. Especially the secondary. Once again, our secondary looked lost and the middle passing lanes were open all game long. It's going to be an ugly game next Saturday night unless something happens between now and then. Husker_x
Don't climb too high swandiving on the panic button. You never know. Bo Pelini might just have some idea what he's doing. 1 Quote Link to comment

I sure hope he has something up his sleeve with this defense because they don't look good as of now. Quote Link to comment

HuskerDens
I'm praying we've got a magic plan like we did against Mizzou last year. Quote Link to comment
flatwaterfan
It was a strange combination of players tonight. I can't hardly believe that those are the DB's that will play next week. I gotta believe your going to see Evans and Dennard at CB with Stafford playing nickel. For some reason our Dline aren't getting their hands up this year to impede some of those slants. On defense Whisky likes to blitz a lot. I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of option & bubble/slip screens next week maybe some fullback trap. Some diamond formation. Would like to see a lot of the power wing formation. They sure looked vulnerable on the edges that one game, although they may have that fixed by now. On offense our safeties have to play well and not get sucked in or we will be in trouble. Whisky likes the play action pass game. Would say we should play base 4-3 but I don't think that's our best group of players at this time. Quote Link to comment
HUSKERCR
If our defensive coaching staff doesn't learn to make adjustments during the game, it will be a long season. Inexperience is one thing, having players out of position even after timeouts is another. Quote Link to comment
zoogs
We know Taylor is bad at passing. But did he make any poor decisions today? It didn't look like it to me in the second half, didn't watch the first. I suspect that his decision making probably grades out pretty highly tonight and that's something encouraging to build on. We throw a lot of low percentage balls when we do go into the air, so I am not *too* worried about his completion % yet because of all those shots we take. I am just worried about Taylor killing drives or committing turnovers when we are needing solid yardage or safe plays. I didn't see that tonight which is good. Quote Link to comment

If he's smart, he'll continue with the vanilla defense and save the good stuff for the conf championship game. (Subtle stab at the playoff mongers) Quote Link to comment
HuskerInLostWages
We might be in for a long weekend when we head into Camp Randal. If our defense continues to not get any pressure, the missed tackles galore and the piss poor secondary, we're going to leaving there with a loss. We cannot continue to give up the tackles behind the line or the extra 5-6 yards due to 4 and 5 missed tackles. The tackling situation is really starting to remind me of Cosgrove coached defenses and it's becoming quite mind boggling that Pelini hasn't fixed it in 3 weeks. Quote Link to comment
Count 'Bility
He missed those 3 consecutive throws at one point. The first two, one was a slant and the other was a post and either one completed in stride woulda been a score. yes, he missed those throws. Encouraging part, he had it read that he knew where to go before the ball was snapped. He's getting the mental part down. Quote Link to comment

Martinez continues to put the ball on the ground. Had yet another fumble tonight. The thing that bothers me about our QB is the fact that he NEVER hits the open man in stride. Every time we run a streak our WR or TE has to stop and come back for the ball. I lost count at how many times this year that if he would have hit the receiver in stride, it would have went for an easy six. Quote Link to comment
HuskerCarter
The truth is, if we don't fix our defense its going to be a shoot out in every game until it finally clicks. Quote Link to comment

Never have very well under Bo. He prefers to burn em early to fix problems he might see, especially on the defensive end of things, rather than save them for the end of the game should we need them. For some odd reason, it doesn't really seem like it has bitten us in the ass too badly yet. Quote Link to comment
