Occupy Wall Street

And the phrasing in questions like "how can we decide how wealthy our neighbors will be" is rather disingenuous. A healthy economy is one that, among many other things, does not allow for the extreme concentration of wealth. Extreme concentration of wealth is essentially plutocracy, because a tiny percentage of the population wield all the power as a side effect of them having all the money. We've had laws and policies to prevent this from happening in the "America" that everyone pines for. It's simply smart economic policy.

When the 99% are shouldering the burden of a recession, while the extreme top gets even richer, there's something wrong. There's no rising tide lifting everyone's boat, the water is being pumped out of our lake and into an exclusive member's only one. If anyone wants to talk about class warfare, that's where it is.

What were those laws?

Who is preventing you from gaining wealth? How are you being held down, or to use your phrase, how is water being pumped out of your lake? This is the kind of unhelpful hyperbole that gets people riled up but doesn't address reality. Nobody is preventing you from becoming an entrepreneur, developing your business, acquiring wealth and living the life you want. No water is being pumped from your lake, you're just not taking advantage of the system as it is.

More on the victim of the second attack...

Did you even watch the video? That dude is drunk or on something. He slurring and seems to be a little slow. He appears to be the only person that is standing up to a police line. That being said, he probably isn't listening to what he is being told to do. I can't speak for the severity of a spleen injury, but I can imagine if you're resisting arrest it isn't that unthinkable. I had a teammate in high school that ruptured a spleen while blocking someone.

Logically, straight out of KETV 7 playbook, they find a friend that tells you how great of a guy he is. KETV always finds the friend/family of a young gangbanger/dope slinger that was just on the verge of turning his life around before he got blasted. I'm not comparing a war vet to a drug dealer, so don't make this something it isn't.

I wish people would stop throwing around the war veteran card like it somehow gives you the right to act like an ass. (http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/55262-1-marine-vs-30-cops/)

Also . . . I think this might factor into why there were no prominently covered rapes at Tea Party rallies.

Average Rape Victim Age:

This could also play a role:

I always find it funny how progressives talk about how mean conservatives are and then post this crap. The tea party members were well behaved and that drives the progressives crazy because they align with these knuckleheads that are burning and deficating on police cars, you know showing their class as it were!! :sarcasm

I find it ironic that I have seen several outlets reporting Bank of America's decision to drop a new fee as a victory for the 'Occupy Wall Street' group. In my opinion, it is nothing short of Capitalism.

I actually think it's a great example of how capitalism should work.

Pretty much the same thing... I'll go with Bernie Sanders' take on it:

If you believe a self proclaimed socialist then you have more problems then I thought!!

What about the Democratic party leaving the Democratic party of Sam Nunn, Scoop Jackson, JFK, Truman and even HHH or even Bill Clinton.

The branch of the Democrat Party you are talking about is the Blue Dogs... who are basically socially liberal conservative Republicans.

Talk about extreme - we have leftist extremists running that party now.

Serious question... please name the "leftist extremists" who are running that party.

Note: Even one will do!

Bernie Sanders :P

I don't not support these people. But I don't see that their movement is going to do anything to make things better. Maybe if they get a more cohesive message I'll understand what they're trying to do better. But Capitalism inevitably breeds 1 percenters. Short of tearing down our societal foundations, they're not going to change much.

By the nature of statistics there will always be one percenters.

The question is... how much of the nations wealth will/should they control?

And what percentage of the population is suffering due to losses of home and other basic services, and will the rest of the 99% care about their plight?

In a free market society it is not your call how much anyone should make unless they are doing it illegally. You start with a flawed premise!!

But you know and I know reporters and anchor men are supposed to give you the unbiased news. If you are under the premise that these guys ar ejsut giving you facts then you have a certain amount of trust that they will do the right thing. If you see an analyst like Hannity or Maddow you know their program is going to have THEIR OPINION, big difference.

It's human nature... they will all include bias.

And I'll take Maddow's opinions, they are based in reality and backed by facts.

yeah right you keep thinking that, WOW!! I have watched her and Oberman and they slant the little bit of truth they uncover so much that it is like a propaganda show for the liberal progressives!!:wacko:

It is truly a great day for this site!! Yos has come back into the fold. Your nemesis is already trembling in fear. And the progressives who don't know you will soon see your wrath!! :restore2

How can we, in a Capitalist society, have any say in how much wealth our neighbors own? Do I get to decide how wealthy you can be?

Our government (with the consent of the people) can set the groundwork for an economic system that can go from the top 1% owning nearly 100% of the wealth (Fascist capitalism) to owning about 1% of the wealth (communistic socialism).

It is the role of the people to pick a government that will lay the groundwork for a government that creates a groundwork for the right economic mix of capitalism and socialism, while avoiding fascism and communism.

In my opinion and per the opinions of most OWS demonstrators, we have to much capitalism that is starting to overlap with facsism, and not enough socialism (for the people) in the mix. With the bank bailouts, there is plenty of socialism for the banks that were deemed too big to fail.

We can agree on something. We should not bail out any corp. they should stand or fall on their own merits!! :throwdabones1:
