NU41SB
I didn't see this posted yet, if it has been please remove, and you have my apologies. http://espn.go.com/blog/bigten/post/_/id/35608/six-b1g-players-are-midseason-all-americans Sort of surprised that David didn't make the list. Foppa
I'm not 'sort of surprised' that David didn't make it..I'm appalled. He is the heart and soul of a pretty bad defense. The guy has played great. If it isn't for him, NU is 0-2 in the Big 12. He is playing just as hard as he was last year, and maybe it says more about his abilities this year since he isn't getting much help. These lists are stupid. Quote Link to comment
308_Husker
I'm pretty sure David even leads the B1G in tackles with 58 and has two sacks, one interception, and one forced fumble. Through six games, I would say that's pretty good. Quote Link to comment
krc1995
This isn't a short list, is it? I mean David can still be added? I think we all new that Ameer was special, but this is great. Quote Link to comment
HuskerShark
No Andrew Green?!?! WTF!!! Quote Link to comment
Foppa
No Andrew Green?!?! WTF!!! He was announced 'next to be picked' right behind Cassidy. Quote Link to comment
knapplc
I think David's exclusion is unfair, and if I had to guess I'd say it has more to do with last year than this year. He's having a fine season, but judging by what he did last year, he's "off the pace." Quote Link to comment
1_NUFAN
Kudos to Ameer, that kids is electric with the ball. Like the Hester of the NCAA. Won't be long and we'll see a lot of squib kicks. Baffled that David is not on the list. Quote Link to comment
Foppa
I think David's exclusion is unfair, and if I had to guess I'd say it has more to do with last year than this year. He's having a fine season, but judging by what he did last year, he's "off the pace." And by that same argument is why these lists are horrendous. Look at the Heisman Trophy. They 'claim' that it is a season award, but really? I can't really be persuaded to think that the voters don't look at past seasons. Why are they excluding him? Because he isn't on pace for 300 tackles? I love what Abdullah has done this year. But I think the outcome of the Wiscy game is probably what cost David's chance on this list, and that isn't right. Maybe, or they'll kick it to Marlowe. Which brings up a good point - Nebraska has the #1/#2 (depending on the week) Kickoff Returner in the country. The kid has already taken one to the house and has another over 60 yards, and who-knows-how-many over 30 yards. So why are people still kicking to him? Why not kick it to Marlowe? Not complaining, just kind of scratching my head. Of course, Marlowe has speed to burn anyone as well, so if they don't have good coverage he's gone, too. Apparently people just want to see if the Freshman will screw up. He muffed the first kickoff of the year, and one punt, but otherwise he's been stellar. Quote Link to comment
huskernumerouno
Could be a lot of people did not even think to look at Husker defenders considering where they are rated. Fair hell no but it is a possibility. David is a beast and will be there in the end. Quote Link to comment
BIGREDFAN_in_OMAHA
I'm pretty sure David even leads the B1G in tackles with 58 and has two sacks, one interception, and one forced fumble. Through six games, I would say that's pretty good. He does but Christian Kirksey and James Morris of Iowa are averaging more tackles per game through 5 games. Morris has 52 for a 10.4 average and Kirksey has 49 for a 9.8 average. David 58 for a 9.67 still ranks 25th for all positions which is still impressive. Kuechly has been a tackling machine for Boston College with 99 including 58 solos. I think Upshaw and Thomas are debatable. If David builds on his awesome OSU performance and even picks up the pace I think he can overtake either of those last two. Kudos to Abdullah!! It helps so much to have such an explosive weapon on special teams!!! Quote Link to comment
Hammerhead
Abdullah's going to have a great tenure as a Husker, for sure as a kick return specialist if not as a running back as well. How many times has he given our offense great field position? That's going to be huge once our defense gets everything sorted out. Totally agree about David, though. David has been solid as a rock so far this season, even when the rest of the defense hasn't. Quote Link to comment
GMoose
Who'da thought with Crick, David, and Dennard that the lowest rated of the three incoming freshman Ibacks would be the only mid-season All-American... Quote Link to comment
redout22
Agreed.. Amazes me that David isn't on the list.. He has been a stud Quote Link to comment
