NUance
That play was illegal anyway. The NFL (No Fun League) has rules that you can loiter near the sideline and pretend you're subbing out. http://deadspin.com/that-awesome-trick-play-to-johnny-manziel-was-illegal-1637562400 The league office, referred to page 64 of the rule book, which states unsportsmanlike conduct is "Using entering substitutes, legally returning players, substitutes on sidelines, or withdrawn players to confuse opponents, including lingering by players leaving the field after being replaced by a substitute and an offensive player lining up or going in motion less than five yards from the sideline in front of his team's designated bench area. However, an offensive player is permitted to line up less than five yards from the sidelines on the same side as his team's player bench, provided he is not in front of the designated bench area." Seems like a play you'd see in a Pop Warner game. Not surprised it's illegal. Quote Link to comment

That's just the NFL taking something out of the game because they're control freaks Quote Link to comment

StPaulHusker
They should have done it Peyton Manning style. He used to pull off that direct snap to the RB by walking toward the sideline like he was disgusted with the play. If the Browns would have done it right, they would have had Manziel just walk toward the sideline like he was in motion as a WR. Quote Link to comment
