South Carolina's D-line will provide tall challenge for NU

By BRIAN CHRISTOPHERSON / Lincoln Journal Star

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Remember now. Yoshi Hardrick comes from Mississippi. SEC country. So friends back home are in the know about South Carolina's menacing defensive line. And those friends have been calling Nebraska's left tackle this month. "You're going against No. 6," they tell him.

No. 6? That'd be consensus All-America defensive end Melvin Ingram, who has eight sacks and 13 1/2 tackles for loss. Coming to your TV screens on Sundays in the not-so-distant future. "By far the best player on film," Hardrick said. "I'm looking forward to it. Him and No. 7 are great. The best man will win."

Maybe the biggest challenge Yoshi has faced. It'll be a battle of the Titans.

Listened to Steve Taylor on Sports Nightly last night and he seemed to indicate that the raw speed and athleticism of the SEC defenses is always kind of a shock when you first see it, but it can be adjusted to and overcome with some changes in how you attack (e.g. counters, traps) so that the speed/athleticism is turned on itself. Pretty interesting to hear for a fan like me who loves the game but never really gets into the weeds with the why and what for. Anyway, this should be an exciting match-up to watch.
