How will Nebraska fare next year.

Recommended Posts

umm, 12 regular season games, 1 conf champ game and 1 bowl game....... thats 14 games. How couldnt that be possible?

We wouldn't be playing an SEC team in the Rose Bowl, unless we made it to the MNC ;)

So if we lose three regular season games and the bowl game, that means we would have won the CCG.

True, wasnt thinking about opponents, just the number of games. BUT..... Texas played USC in the rose bowl...... so its possible, just highly unlikely :P

For some outside perspective.............(since the inhabitants of this board are all pretty frustrated right now with the lingering images of the bowl game still fresh)...............

I heard today on the Zone (haven't checked it out, but THEY were saying...........) that Vegas has us at 30-1 to win the Mythical National Championship.............which is second only to Michigan in the B!G.......!!

Now I'm not running out to bet the mortgage on it, but obviously outsiders (who may have more of an objective view than we do)............think we will be pretty decent.....

Nebraska could have done a heck of a lot better this year and next year will depend on if your coaches make them a disciplined team. To many penalties and mental errors is where you let the games get away from you. Without those, that unit could be quite deadly, otherwise there will be some disappointment.

I think we lose 1 to 2 games next year....I was correct about our losses this year (I predicted 3 to 4 losses) before the season started. Next year's team will go to the BIG10 championship game or will slide into a BCS bowl game bid.....count on it!

this team lost 3 REALLY GOOD players on defense........no way do we improve......i predicted 4 losses this season, i expect 5 losses next season, especially after listening to Corey Raymond's comments.......

10 or more wins, competing with Michigan to go to the Big Ten CCG. Whichever makes it wins the conference and goes to the Rose Bowl.

Pretty much this. I think we'll finish second in the division. Michigan will be the clear favorite to win the conference.

I'll have what you're smoking.

Is predicting a 2nd place finish in the division really that outlandish? No, no it's not. Go away already.

It's hard to say, but as Joe Cocker said, "You feeling alright? I'm not feeling too good myself, no."

Southern Miss - So Miss finished 12-2, with wins against Houston (C-USA Championship) and Nevada (Hawaii Bowl) - this one will be tougher than some of you think...could be the upset of the weekend.

@ UCLA - Should be a W

Arkansas State - W

Wisconsin - possibly a W

@ Ohio State - L

@ Northwestern - possibly a W

Michigan - L (yet again, another loss at Memorial Stadium)

@ Michigan State - possibly a L

Penn State - possibly a W

Minnesota - W

@ Iowa - possibly a L

So....anywhere between a 9-2 (best case) or 3-8 (worst case). I see a 6-5 season, not including a meaningless bowl game.

Why? Just curious :)

Agreed, the only team that worries me in our division is Michigan

I agree with you that we are losing 3 good players. I'm assuming (and I could be wrong) that you are talking about Crick/Dennard and David. Who was there before them? Suh/Cortney Grixby/Zach Bowman/Armando Murillo/Phillip Dillard. I'll bet if we looked back a couple of years ago, people were probably saying how we wouldn't win another game without them. But we have. Why not wait until we see who steps up next year to fill those positions. We may be surprised. A lot can happen between now and next Spring. GO BIG RED!!

10-2 regular season:

Southern Miss-W

UCLA-W

Arkansas Statte-W

TBA- no idea who its gonna be, but its a W anyways ;)

Wisconsin-W

Ohio State-L

Northwestern-W

Michigan-L

Michigan State-W

Penn State-W

Minnesota-W

Iowa-W

Michigan plays for the B1G CG, we get a at-large birth for a BCS game :woo

I'm curious as to why many think we're going to lose to Ohio State next year? Is it because they will retain their quarterback? Is it because people are convinced that Urban Meyer will go in, wave his magic wand and Ohio State will be #1 immediately? Just curious to understand the criterion that folks are using to secure this loss for us.

Probably for all of the reasons you stated though I get the feeling you don't really buy them all. I'm not sure I do either, they'll certainly be a better team and will compete...that said, hypothetically speaking...even if they were able to win the Big Ten next year I don't think they'd be a shoe in or anything. Definitely in a year or so though.

I don't see any guaranteed losses on NU's schedule and that includes OSU and Michigan. OSU's probably 50-50 and Michigan probably a 60-65% chance of a loss but they can beat every team on that slate....they won't....but they're able.

They said K-State was 25 to 1...better odds than us...fail.
