Omaha-Husker
Great battle! Take set 1. Quote Link to comment
knapplc
Just noticed that Jordan's official Olympic photo looks like a mugshot. Also, they list her hometown as Fremont, NE. Fremont is the armpit of Nebraska. She probably isn't too pleased they put that as her hometown, even if it is the largest town near Hooper, and Hooper likely doesn't appear on any maps over in Britain. Also, USA wins the first set, 26-24. Take that, Commies. Quote Link to comment
VA Husker Fan
US pulls out the first set 26-24. Logan Tom uncharacteristically pretty much whiffed receiving 2 serves late in the set. Hooker was on fire at the end. Quote Link to comment

Hooper is no exception since the 4-lane bypasses the town now and there's no traffic through there. I still go there to visit Don's Barber shop though for my 7 dollar haircut and to view the most recent copy of the "Farm Journal" Quote Link to comment
GM_Tood
That was a really good (edit..to watch) first set. Quote Link to comment
beanman
If you look at medal counts over the past couple decades, the Chinese really have some momentum going. It's scary. Quote Link to comment
Omaha-Husker
If you look at medal counts over the past couple decades, the Chinese really have some momentum going. It's scary. They have triple the US population and stick many of their kids in sport specific schools from day one. Quote Link to comment
knapplc
If you look at medal counts over the past couple decades, the Chinese really have some momentum going. It's scary. They have basically an Olympic Medal Mill set up. They take these kids at young ages away from their families and all they do is train for the Olympics. I'd rather do what we do than have that kind of system - although I think we could fork over some more dough on our end for our facilities and training. Score: 8-5 China in the second set. knapplc
12-12, second set. EDIT - here's a good read on China's training methods. Quote Link to comment
Omaha-Husker
USA is pretty deep in their rotation right now. Hodge is stepping up. Quote Link to comment

GSG
NBC aired a bare breast this morning during women's water polo. The pic is on deadspin if you're interested. It's not a great pic lol Quote Link to comment
knapplc
Destinee Hooker...is cute!! She is. And yeah, not only do we have a fantastic starting lineup, we're deep, too. When you can bench Jordan Larson and replace her with Megan Hodge.... that's almost unfair. America now up 17-13 in the second set. Quote Link to comment
HuskerfaninOkieland
The US team is putting together a real nice scoring run. Quote Link to comment
beanman
So I take it Larson was ineffective thus far? Quote Link to comment
