In the Deed the Glory
http://www.azcentral...bowl-berth.html Mo Purify doing very well in Arena league Good for him! If Sam Keller wasn't so infatuated with getting his coke buddies the ball and threw it to, who I believed to be, our most talented receiver that season Mo would probably be in the league. It's a shame it took Ganz coming in and not playing favorites for Mo to shine. Quote Link to comment
Foppa
What's an arena league? Oh...just googled it. The definition of something no one cares about, but people might pay attention if the only alternative was the WNBA. Go Mo! Quote Link to comment

Count me as a guy who found Purify to be overcelebrated by most Husker fans. I was never that impressed with him. He was an ok WR (especially by Nebraska's standards). Quote Link to comment

He also had a virtual assault on the Nebraska Football record books in 2 seasons. That was my point. With our lack of "excellence" at the WR position in the past, he kind of sticks out as a standout receiver. However, if he played for a program like USC, where they churn out top notch WR's all the time, he wouldn't even be remembered by most of their fanbase. I liked the guy, he was a nice receiver, but he gets a bit to much credit in my opinion, because of our lack of historical relevance at the position. Is it really that hard for a receiver have a "virtual assault" on the WR record books at NU? Taylor Martinez has/will put a "virtual assault" on the QB record books as well, but half of Nebraska wants to run him outta town.... Quote Link to comment

My fault on the WR standards comment, should have asked before going off on a tangent. I would argue much of Nebraska, the half that wants to run Martinez out of town, are unaware of how good he is. He will be NU's all time leader in total offense when he's done. Passing Tommie Frazier and Eric Crouch. Is he better than those players? Not right now, but he might be as good as they were going into their junior year. Quote Link to comment

Those salary numbers are from the Arena league that existed a few years back, today's AFL is waaaaay different as they went a year with no season (2009) and the league is barely able to stay around each year. Players today make anywhere from $400 to $1000 per game, so we talking maybe $16,000 for the whole season, plus living expenses or apartments. The players are not happy and threatened to strike at the start of the season and a few teams walked out, but in the end, they played but for these very low salaries. Here in AZ, the Rattlers used to command 12,000-18,0000 people per game and were the talk of the town, this season they were lucky to get 8000 to their games and they just won the Arena League Title (3rd time) and no one cares here, barely made the newspaper. So times have changed unfortunately. Quote Link to comment
HuskerMoon
Edited for lack of concentration. I don't know where my head was, confusing a great receiver like Purify to someone like Niles Paul. Quote Link to comment
