We didn't have a FG kicker that could make one that long. Which is wierd to say since we have been spoiled since then by great kickers. They'd lost at home the previous week and had given up a lot of yards doing it. An underperforming senior quarterback got benched and dumped for a raw but highly-prized recruit with a hell of an upside. He did okay, the Huskers won, and the kid never looked back. Sound familiar?
