Afalava is going to be a beast. Has some awesome closing speed. Looked David'esque on Saturday.

 

That one play where he just ran right through the gap and stopped their running back for a loss was a thing of beauty. It was especially so considering he just got burned the two plays before that.

 

Just after those two mistakes, Bo called a TO and talked to him almost exclusively. Next play, he blows it up in the backfield.

Beck says the more focused offensive practices/gameplan are not just a function of playing new qb's but something they want to continue doing no matter who the qb is. I'm liking that. Leads to better execution than the "jack of all trades" approach. Also liking the de-emphasis on the horizontal passing game, it works better when used in moderation and the D is respecting the vertical game. Beck can still be maddening at times but he has a good mind and shows signs of growth.
