funhusker
I have read a lot of posts complaining about 11am starts; and I agree, they suck for a long list of reasons Huskerboard has already compiled in other threads. But the reasons such as, "Nebraska needs to earn better time slots", "when Nebraska is better, we get better start times", "when we are relevant...", "when Nebraska does this, that, or other, we will be on better times and better channels". Ohio State is ranked #4 and hasn't been beaten in over a year, yet their game AT Purdue next weekend is at 11am on the BTN. OSU is nationally relevant and they have beaten everyone they've played for a long time. My point, our crappy start times aren't because Nebraska sucks and needs to "earn it" it is because the teams the Huskers have played are irrelevant. Instead of Husker fans blaming our own team, maybe we could start to embrace our team and just recognize that not every B1G team is of national interest and it's NOT necessarily the Huskers' fault that the game is not shown to a broader audience.... 1 Quote Link to comment

Blackshirts007
I'm sorry but you are way off base. MSU and Indiana got the espn slot while nebraska vs Illinois got the BTN spot. This year we've been in ONE nationally televised game, not included today, and that was even at 11am. If you looked at the slate of games during the UCLA game there is no way in hell that game should have been 11. And it wasn't because ucla was a weak opponent. It's because nebraska sh#ts the bed in big prime time games. Ucla starts killing us, viewers leave. Sure the opponents that we play have a slight effect on what channel we play on, but if we were nationally prominent, they would make sure to get us national coverage more times than not. OH HSKR FAN
The truth is you are both right. The opponents don't scream must see TV. When we lose we like to do it in glorious fashion. Quote Link to comment
Hayseed
I prefer the 11:00 games against bottom half teams.....night games against teams like that seem like overkill. If I'm the networks I'm featuring rivalries between not-so-great teams over inconsequential games between strangers. I listen to Sirius sports talk and none of the guys on there ,who are supposed to know, think much of the BIG this year....I'm sure that factors into the decision-making process when it comes to playing also-rans vs. heated rivalries. Mavric
Sorry about the block of text. My "enter" button literally doesn't work on this site and I have no idea why. That is why I rarely post longer responses or topics....(advice from mods?) Try clicking the "light switch" button in the far upper left corner. Quote Link to comment

BIGREDIOWAN
Honestly, I'm fine with the 11am slot because I have to work at 4! Quote Link to comment
