Lots of bench clearing too. Plus the fouls were out of control. The new handcheck rule is going to be worse than the targeting penalties because it will affect every single game.

We will struggle defensively this year, and the new way of officiating is going to kill us.

Attacking the rim will almost always result in a blocking call, so we better be prepared for it.

 

Just happy that we have more than one 3 point threat this year so driving and dishing gives us some options besides only Ray.

"It requires fouls to be called when such action occurs against the player with the ball," Hyland said.

 

These rules include:

• Keeping hand or forearm on an opponent.

• Putting two hands on an opponent.

• Continually jabbing an opponent by extending an arm or placing a hand or forearm on the opponent.

• Using an arm bar to impede the progress of a dribbler.

 

NCAA director of officials John Adams told ESPN.com that it will take time for coaches, players and officials to adjust. The changes could well result in an increase of fouls early in the season and also could force star players to the bench with foul trouble.

 

"The best way to increase scoring and make the game better is to create situations to get more shots," Kansas coach Bill Self said. "More free throws doesn't make the game better."

 

Adams is aware that the early portion of the season could feature an excess of whistles and lengthier games. But he is optimistic that by midseason an improvement in overall play will be noticeable.

 

"Touching a dribbler is not a foul," Adams said. "Keeping a hand on them is a foul, putting two hands on them is a foul, constantly jabbing at them is a foul."

Basically if you touch them you're getting a whistle. It's dumb, and will take several years before it begins to get any better. Coaches at younger levels have to teach defense with feet even more now. They are trying to create higher scoring games like the NBA, but I think it's going to take at least 5 years before that starts to show at the college level. It's completely changing what players have grown into and made habit.

So now I see that the Haymarket Parking (which was $5 for Monday nights game) is $10 for Friday night's game.

 

Probably not going to break anyone, but seems like a heavy-handed way to penalize the fans who are already paying seat licenses, paying for season tickets; paying inflated concession prices and still get a brisk and lengthy walk to the PBA.

 

Does it ALWAYS have to be................how much can we gouge the people who are supporting this program?
