AngryHusker88
1 change to the lineup up top that I feel needs to be made is Rex Burkhead at RB. Rex was injured & missed most of the conference games that season. But when healthy he was always reliable and sure handed when called upon. He definitely needs to be added to that team. Ulty
I wonder what type senior season Crick would have had, had he never suffered that concussion I still believe we would have caused fits with him and Stein in the middle and would have had a better rush defense. I thought Crick tore a muscle in his chest? Quote Link to comment

Personally, I'd give it to Rex for his game against Colorado in 2009. But I suppose you're right, I'm just going to leave the list alone. Quote Link to comment
AFhusker
Oh and to the OP, there is no way I would even consider NU being top 10. Callahan alone ruins this, then to add the debacle we had against Colorado and Miami in back to back games. I dunno about that. I agree that NU is not in the top ten for the 00-09 decade. But I wouldn't blame it all on Callahan. Sure, he couldn't put a winning team on the field. But he could recruit. The guy pulled in talent. Just look at the NU players he sent to the NFL. Frank on the other hand was not a great recruiter. Not at all. So he could recruit great talent, couldn't put it on the field, but its not his fault? Sorry NUance, I am going to have to disagree with you on this. Callahan and his assistants couldn't turn great/good players into elite players. Solich, Osborne, Pelini have made almost every player on the field better than they were when they were recruited. Callahan's recruits under Bo is a perfect example of what simple coaching can do. What proof do you have of this? Bo did get more out of Bill's recrutis, but nither Frank or Bo can recruit like Bill could. Frank was by far the worst recruiter of the three, and you saw that when all of Tom's players graduated after his fourth season. Quote Link to comment
AFhusker
Ok this took a while...Here is my Nebraska Cornhuskers All-Decade (2000s) Team. Coaching Staff Head Coach - Bo Pelini Offensive Coordinator - Frank Solich Defensive Coordinator - Craig Bohl Only thing I would change on your list. I would also put Marlon Lucky in at the RB position lol Angryhusker must love Fullback/Quarterback trap plays because Frank is the most unimaginative playcaller I have ever seen. He was so bad that Barney was seen as an improvement in the OC position. I think that speaks volumes of how bad Frank was a calling plays. Quote Link to comment

That Pelini has made these kids play harder and at a better level than they were recruited or ever expected? 2012 with a 10 win season with a lack of talent on defense. Sean Fisher, Will Compton, Alonzo Whaley, Spencer Long, Stanley Jean Baptiste (UNRANKED RECRUIT converted WR) just to name a few. I also never said anything about Frank or Bo recruiting like Bill could, so I guess I don't understand your argument there. I will underline the part of my conversation where I stated that they coached players they recruited into better players than they arrived or were originally recruited as. Osborne didn't really recruit "elite" talent either, he found players who fit his system and wanted to come here and win. Players who would rip someone's head off for looking at their QB the wrong way. Quote Link to comment
husker07
Interesting idea. I would think NU would be top 10 for sure. Great players at most every position. I would say USC, Miami, and Texas would be the top 3 in whatever order. Quote Link to comment

Hujan
Oklahoma 110-24 82%, 6 Conference Championships, 8 BCS Bowl Appearances (3 won), 1 MNC, 2 Heisman winners, 8 Divisional Champs USC 103-24 81%, 7 Conference Championships, 7 Divisional Champs, 7 BCS Appearances (6 of them won), 2 MNCs, 3 Heisman winners. Pretty comparable for these two programs if you ask me. The only part that puts my favor in Oklahoma's court, is the fact we can say they did it without paying players or their families. Clean program over a dirty one any day. Oh and to the OP, there is no way I would even consider NU being top 10. Callahan alone ruins this, then to add the debacle we had against Colorado and Miami in back to back games. After a 6 year investigation, the only thing the NCAA found was a wannabe agent who gave Bush a car and let his family live in a modest house rent free. There was absolutely no evidence USC paid any players and extremely tenuous evidence that anyone at USC even knew of the prospective agent's dealings with Bush. Literally the ONLY other incident the NCAA found was that Matt Leinart's dad was not charging enough rent to Matt and his roommate, Dwayne Jarrett, which apparently constituted an "extra benefit" to Jarrett. The "USC pays players" stuff is blown way out of proportion and is unjustified. USC has more than enough means to attract quality players to the program without having to pay them. Blackshirt96
I am not saying Nebraska is top 5 in terms of being successful...I am saying if you take all our best players at all the positions throughout the decade, our talent would be top 5 IMO. Nebraska would possibly have the best DLine in the country with Kyle Vanden Bosch, Adam Carricker, Ndamukong Suh & Jared Crick. LBers would be solid with Carlos Polk, Demorrio Williams, Barrett Ruud. Keyuo Craver & Josh Bullocks give us 2 All-Americans in the secondary so the defense looks solid top to bottom; with arguably the best DLine in the country. Then add an offense led by Heisman trophy winner Eric Crouch & 3 All-Americans on the OLine (Russ Hochstein, Dominic Raiola, Tonui Fonoti). IMO our defense would be straight up nasty & that alone makes us a top 10 team. A top 10-15 offense led by a game changer like Eric Crouch (say what you want about Crouch but the dude won games by himself) makes us a top 5 team IMO, or at least real close. Add Alex Henery & DeJaun Groce for special teams. Quote Link to comment
