huskerfan333157
He arrived at Oregon state in 94. From 1962 to 1994 oregon state went 17 seasons where they had 2 wins or less and never won more than 4 games in that span. He made oregon state respectable and coached Steven jackson, ochocinco, Jacquezz Rodgers and many more 1 Quote Link to comment
NUance
In the past 8 years Riley has beaten: #3 USC, #2 Cal, #1 USC, #9 Zona, #20 USC, #13 Wisconsin, and #6 ASU. I'd take half of those wins in that time frame. —(from Darkhorse's status) Here's a stat I like! He's good in the big games. Quote Link to comment
Bigred_inSD
Has any found an Oregon state message board that you can read without paying for or signing up? How are they reacting? Quote Link to comment

junior4949
He's been pretty comparable at Oregon State to Bill Snyder at KState. He did quite a bit with little. I'm excited to see what he can do with a considerable upgrade in facilities and such. 1 Quote Link to comment

Unlike Bielema, there's no way Riley isn't going to get a warm reception from Nebraska folks. Quote Link to comment

The guy was just announced a couple of hours ago, and you would have thought we just hired Faux Pelini's cat. 1 Quote Link to comment
74Hunter
Another interesting stat, he's never come close to playing for a championship. Probably never will. Quote Link to comment
Blackshirtsguru
I am being very optimistic about this hire. The guy comes with a ton of head coaching experience, player development and knowledge. I am VERY interested on who he is going to select for his coaching staff. Quote Link to comment

Unless it was whomever they had already decided in their heads, some people were just wanting to be mad. Actually, some people have just wanted to be mad for a while - regardless. That much is clear. -shrug- Quote Link to comment

The 'skers need better player development at more positions than D-line and in the secondary and this could be the "shocking!" hire someone mentioned in the sock post. 1 Quote Link to comment
huskerfan333157
Yes, hunter, I'm sure it's so easy winning a championship with oregon state. I mean, they put soooo much money in their football budget. I mean, they were such a powerhouse before he got there! Damn him! 1 Quote Link to comment
junior4949
I don't understand where people are coming from saying he isn't a great recruiter. Considering the facilities and such he had to recruit to at Oregon State, I'd say he did a pretty admirable job. If he'd have been hired five years ago, a lot of the butthurt fans would be singing a different tune. 1 Quote Link to comment
