I don't know how the Big XII rewrote their rules specifically, but this isn't a big deal.

Co-champions is how conferences without championship games have done it since....pretty much forever. We were Co-Big 8 champions a ton of times, The B1G had co-champions in 2004, 2005, 2008, and 2010.

Divisions work the same way. In 2008 we were the North division co-champions with Mizzou, but they won tiebreaker to represent in the ccg. In 2010, it was the other way around, with them being co-champions as well.

I think the point is not whether or not conferences have HAD co-champions in the past. I believe the point is that (at least according to Baylor) it is in the bylaws of the conference that since they no longer have a CCG, the conference is supposed to select a champion and in the case of a tie, the first tie-breaker is head-to-head play.

I agree that this shouldn't be a big deal...except that the Big XII's thing this year was that each team played every other team, so they had "One True Champion". It's just ironic that using that theme to sell their conference (as though it is somehow a better system than a CCG), they now REFUSE to name One True Champion.

This is hard to type, you guys. I suffered third degree burns from these white hot, scorching takes.attachicon.gifimage.jpg

They are all I-N-S-A-N-E-!!!!!!!! To believe that they were left out because they are a christian school is the epitome of ridiculous.

I actually don't think they are insane, I think there is something to it. Especially how DHS calls christians terrorists on their websites nowadays, and how obama's ring that he always wears says "there is no god but allah" We would be very naive to believe that politics dont play into these decisions. I think 90% of it is political to be honest

I'll bet you ten million dollars that they don't declare "Christians" to be terrorists, but identify Christian terror groups who, I don't know, kill doctors in church.

Yep, and the ring thing is bogus too. Somebody listens to too much right wing radio.

Except that their bylaws don't say champion, they say representative to the Sugar Bowl (if it isn't being used for the CFP that year).

:D I just took that for granted but didn't want to engage it because it's akin to arguing about what a third party thinks. One of the central problems with the "secret Muslim" line of reasoning is that it assumes that being Muslim is something that a devout Muslim would be ashamed of. That's a pretty shaky premise that seems more appropriate for the pages of a Chick Tract.

A lot of politics going on here, but back to the Big XII minus two: Everybody in that conference has been saying for months that Baylor's easy schedule would come back to bite them. They gambled on piling up easy wins and that no one would notice, but they lost.

In the end, Florida State had the one true recipe for getting into the playoffs: Win every game. Ugly wins, barely winning games, come from behind wins, anything containing "win" works.

Beating Iowa State 55-3 isn't going to impress anyone when someone else is beating Wisconsin 59-0. Championship games give teams another tough game that those conferences without them get to dodge. Again, Baylor factored that in to their plan. They were content to let the other conferences beat each other up in the championship games while we put a beat down on the Cyclones. Good plan, but it didn't work out.

The Big 12 office is at it again. This time it is blatantly obvious. Baylor should be the outright champions of the conference. They have an identical record as TCU but they have the head to head victory over TCU. By their own written rules Baylor should be the conference representative. But the Big 12 knows that it lessens TCU s shot at the playoff if Baylor is named conference champions. What a mess! This reminds me when we had the head to head victory over mizzou in 2010 yet the big 12 website never once listed Nebraska in front of mizzou in the division standings. Always that we were tied and mizzous name was always on top. Even when we were actually playing in the championship game. Big 12 creates their own mess. This reminds me why I am glad we are out.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Big 12 also award Missouri with a North Division trophy on top of this? I'm glad were not involved in that mess either.

Who cares about the trophy..... Who represented the North in the conference championship??

Nothing to do with the replies... I cant get enough of that block KB got flagged for. That was our B12 moment in the B1G that made me think "seriously????" Awesome gif!!
