HuskermanMike
We will see this week who BYU is suspending for the game. An article says that around ten players are going to be suspended and it may or may not have an impact on the game. Less than a week away till Gameday in Lincoln!!!!!!!!! Quote Link to comment

Whether that brawl will determine in game suspensions we shall see as well Quote Link to comment

Riley did not name the suspended players because BYU hasn't either so that evens the playing field a bit. We will know soon in the coming days though which Cougars will not play. IvoryTorpedo
Word is, there's Nacua (starting safety), Takitaki (starting OLB and one of our 2 best rushers), and Dye (young depth) who are suspended for the full game. Takitaki is suspended for on-campus theft, not for the brawl. Another starting LB, Langi, is suspended for a half, not for the brawl, but for breaking team rules related to the bowl. Memphis has not named any players. They just said a number of players will be suspended. I imagine some of those punishments are cumulative as this was Memphis'second bench clearing incident if the season. Also, the idea that Riley hasn't revealed names because Bronco hasn't is cute. You guys are a funny bunch. The fact of the matter, nobody would know about any Nebraska suspensions if Riley hadn't misspoke in front of a reporter from Oregon. Riley isn't above the gamesmanship. It's standard operating procedure for coaches. The only time this stuff generally comes out early is when it is a matter of public record, like an arrest. But in-house issues are kept there for as long as possible. Quote Link to comment
Saunders
Last time I checked, nobody knew about the Nebraska suspensions because they weren't involved in a brawl on national television. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 4 Quote Link to comment

Everyone assumes automatic suspensions. Why? Quote Link to comment

Everyone assumes automatic suspensions. Why? Because it was an ugly brawl that tarnished the brand of a school that prides itself on doing things the right way. The Miami Hurricanes suspended 13 players in the aftermath of their 2006 brawl with FIU, a fight which was nearly identical to the one BYU engaged in. BYU prides itself on its morals, being better than the next guy, and upholding their stringent Honor Code. But all of that means nothing if actual punishments aren't involved. Suspending one player, Nacau, for that fight would be a joke. It would say to college football that BYU's self-policing policies are less stringent than a school that pridefully calls itself "Thug U." 4 Quote Link to comment

You can get kicked out of school for sleeping with a co-ed. But if you get in a brawl on national TV, no big deal. Just do some extra running over the summer. 1 Quote Link to comment
knapplc
Just make the guys in the fight do some up/downs and call it a day. #Sark I've heard that sentiment from BYU Fan over the past month. Engage in an ugly brawl, throw haymakers on national TV, do some calisthenics & call it good. Except, if that's your ceiling punishment, where's your basement? Lose three fumbles in a game, you have to write on the chalkboard 10 times? False start three times, you have to look at the stadium steps & think about what running them would be like? Violate team rules, you get a stern glance from an Athletic Trainer? BYU Fan thinking this can be swept under the rug by running some laps is delusional. But, to listen to them talk about this fight, they think their guys were all the victims, that none of them actually participated in the brawl. Quote Link to comment
